the stuff you come up with is always pretty wild. do you write exclusively in front of a board or do you have to sometimes figure out how to play what you wrote?
Hey what mallets do you use? I've been looking for some good one's for a while and i was wondering if anyone can recommend any. Great work (as are all of yours). My personal favorite of yours is Pius Cheung's E minor etude because it looks so hard to play haha
By the way, what do you think would be a good four mallet piece at a high school level audition? Right now I have Musser's Etude in C major. It's supposed to be something that shows off ability but isn't too difficult or excessively simple. I feel like it's kind of easy though...
@Highwind67 dude i played etude in c for 8th grade that shit is a pain in the ass but dude play it but for an addition play somthing that shows all tecnics like yellow after the rain or fire dance
hey casey im working on this piece and im just wondering what mallets are best for this one.....thanks for the great inspiration man!!! p.s. NAGLFAR rules!!!
hmmm...something very articulate in the top and something soft but punchy in the bass. I used Mycka's line in the video -I like the sound, they're just really heavy. Thanks to you too! Ha ha go Naglfar!!
Hey, thanks so much. I do give lessons, in fact I've just been appointed at Concord University in WV. Message me, maybe we can work something out. Maybe I can even come visit your school. Later
I really like this piece! What mallets are u using?

Your marimba writing is amazing. When your writing do you write while at the marimba? or do you compose then learn your own solo?

I hope I can play this by the time I'm a grad student...

hm...I like the Musser etudes, but maybe some Abe if they're easy for you. Michi, Prisim, Cherry...

Nice. I dig Abe, and my band director has Frogs and Dreams of Cherry Blossoms. Which one?
(Sorry I hog up your great performances with my dumb questions)
Highwind67 2 years ago
hmm..Cherry is certainly the better piece, but much much harder. Check em both out. :)
