  • Great machine. Spent a good 15 years using several A810's and A80's at LBC in the 80's and 90's and stil hold great affection for them. Guess nifty software has rather made them redundant these days.

Still missing lining up the A-827 :-)

  • If C37 is the best valve recorder, is this the best analogue solid-state recorder?

  • Thats a good question, on some reports I have seen, the Sony APR-5000/3 is one of the best stereo machines which a nice flat responce, many people like the Studer A80's, me, I hope that the Studer A820 (WTB) is the best but I have had many people say the 3M machine is the best and the most prone to break down and wear out the tapes first due to the tape loop design, multi track? no idea.

  • How much could i expect to pay for one of these (3 track or four track)

  • Which mahine, the A810 or the APR-5003? I do have both of them coming up for sale. Thank you.

  • Nice. I have a Scully 280-8.

  • Hi Seblington,

Many thanks for posting these wonderful videos on your collection. Great stuff ! I am looking to purchase a Studer this year and these videos are just what I need to get the inside scoop. Thank you again.

  • Hello, it's a shame you are so far away as this one will be up for sale this year.

  • Good morning,

Yes the shipping charges would be sky high. It is a beautiful deck.

Let me ask you : which is your favorite, the A810 or the A80 ? I have been doing some reading on the ML-5 which was the one gone over by Mark Levinson.

    Thanks.

  • this is one big recorder!you're perfectly right, studers resemble telefunkens!

  • Then one to it's left is bigger, check out the BTR-2, massive!

  • Do you know the "Mechlabor" Tape Recorders ?

We have 2 (STM 610) in our Studio. its the Hungarian Lizenz Version.

ok .. a A810 was for long Time the "Mastering Mother"

    (sorry for my poor english)

    greets

  • I have seen pictures of it but not used one, it looks an impressive recorder.

  • Always enjoy your vids! Great work, keep posting!

  • Cheers! wonder which machine next?

  • Well, if you happen to have an Otari MX5050, I wouldn't mind seeing what you've got to say about that particular machine. I've got one that I use very frequently. ;)

  • Sadly, no, I had one with a overhead bridge like my A810 but I sold it some time ago, the only Otari I have is the MX-55

  • Well, show us that one then. :) An Otari M90 would be awesome to see too. There are a couple short vids on youtube, but nothing as in-depth as you'd do.

  • Well the MX-55 shows a short time in one of my clips of some of the recorders I have, its packed away until after Christmas but I will do a video of it next year.

  • Nice machine! I always loved magnetophones :)

  • Cheers! that Magnetophones though? thought that was the AEG/Telefunken branding though I know there is some link between studer and Telefunken.
