I am interested in moving to Vancouver, and I'm looking to live in a place that is a reasonably good area, not looking for anything spectacular, but I also don't want to live in the slums, I heard Gastown and Hastings and Main are bad, lol

if I make $1300 per month, can I really afford to live in a reasonably good area in Vancouver? if so, what are some places that are good?

@1981z28camaro eep i don't know about that salary man, BC is the highest cost of living in Canada or something . let alone Vancouver! But my mom makes around 4-5 thousand monthly and we still struggle (we don't even live in Van, (we live in another neighbouring city), but maybe thats just cause she supports us, her kids.... ANYWAY! maybe if you live alone :) good luck though!

Hey everyone, I'll be moving to Canada next year but I've been trying to decide WHERE in Canada I would like to live...I've been checking Toronto out but Vancouver seems to probably have more jobs for my field (graphic designer)...

Is vancouver expensive to live? does it have good public transportation (I do not plan on getting a car for a long time)?

Does winter last longer than normal like in many provinces in Canada? how cold is it during that time?

Visited Vancouver, Victoria,Chamanus,PrinceRupert­,Skeena train to Prince George,Smithers ,Jasper,Banff,Kanloop,Kalowna,­Merritt,Hope,back to Vanvouver then Rocky Moutaineer to Whistler.

ALL Amazing and the People are very warm and freindly. Ramada Hotel in Vancouver was Great but was in Downtown which was a little seedy with a lot of Tramps But was only there for 2 nights.

All cities have a bad side compared to London, Vancouver was no sweat.

It doesn't help that it is mostly immigrants who don't even bother learning the local language anymore. Vancouver is legit... I havent been to many other cities (seattle, orlando, LA, edmonton), but it is the best one IMO, but its bias cause i live there. Victoria is really really cool too though... love going there it seems like it has alot more heritage than van city.

There are pros and cons everywhere in the world,but for Canada,this is the place to be. Especially in the summer. Sure! when were these pictures taken, when the clouds parted. Show Vancouver the way it looks on a more typical day. 300 days a years clouds dominate the sky and the chance of precipation is mention on at least 265 days a year. Nine months of the year you'd never know we had mountains boardering the city unless your lucky. It's always damp here, metal gets rusty fast and moss grows on many a rooftop. We do have the nicest flowering weeds here in Lotusland too!!

dayvone1, I love being Cdn and I was born and lived my life in Vancouver and suburbs. Sorry to say but what steak212 said is very much true. I had my home broken in 2 times, truck stolen, car broken into, drunk drive in my house, drive by shooting and men stop me because they thought I was a hooker.
