Chelation is working for us! My son is slightly mercury poisoned, but more so lead, Tin, Aluminum, and Cadmium. If this is the case for some children, maybe they are being misdiagnosed because the symptoms of heavy metal poisoning are the same as the symptoms of autism. My son is 5 yrs old, has been in ABA speech, occupational, developmental therapies etc. for 3 yrs with only regression, for the last 6 months he has been recovering all thanks to chelation.
@AnnieTigerChucky Then to me this suggests there are many causes of autism. I don't know much about higher functioning autism, but it seems that they are good candidates for ABA and the "regular" treatments for autism. I am just explaining what has helped my son with the hopes someone with a child like mine will read it.
Autism Speaks? don't waste your time. that organization has all kinds of problems, both philosophical and ethical. (they're in danger of losing 501 C-3 status because of financial irregularities.)
they claim to be an autism advocacy group, but they include no one on the spectrum in any kind of decision-making role.
"They are required by law to calibrate there equipment to standards that won't be dangerous to you ears" not like the rock concerts we went to is it...made me deaf..lol That's what I'm talking about garbage video... Put some of the video's that show some good doctors from neurology and chemistry etc.. that prove it not safe to take thermisol or mercury in any form...

Just like Schools and speach therapiests popping up big business like she said while she was smiling thinking about all the money she is making off of Autism...Keep smiling to the Bank..
so she loves Autism.... she is making money off of it.. don't try to fix the problem... it might work...Just send them to me.. what does she charge for her services for the month probably what chelation costs...
There is no fast fix, We spent 36,000 dollars the first year of diagnosis and none of the therapies did much. Then I realized we must heal the insides first then and only then will children REALLY benefit from all these therapies available. If the body is in danger the brain will not focus on learning. Gentle detox,nutrition comes first then therapies. I do not believe mercury is the ONLY cause. Its much more than that.
Scary thought to know that you have a Ph.D. It won't be long before the truth is uncovered about our babies being injected with the additive thimerosal through their vaccines the 2nd most toxic element on the planet.The thimerosal (mercury) is the one and only cause for this epidemic(autism).You say the chelation therapy is dangerous well it wouldn't be necessary for us parents to have our children put on chelation therapy if they were never poisoned with these toxic metals in the first place.
I remember there was this guy who told me about how he takes his son to drama classes to help him socialise and I think that is a great idea. Drama is a great way of understanding different characters, the way that they act or hold themselves and how to intereact with them. So if you can't affor speech and language therapy (which is very successful), go to drama classes (normally your school provides that anyways).
it won't work because autism isn't caused by mercury poisoning. it's a complex system---so many neurological differences. two gene alleles have been isolated in re: to autism. it may just be another neuro-type.
why not accept that there are strengths as well as challenges? (see Dr. Temple Grandin, ex.) the strengths can be encouraged, the challenges addressed in a realistic fashion.

In other words, don't do anything. Just accept what the so called professionals say because "there is no proof". "And learn to live with it."
