I don't think Ireland will become Europes answer to Saudi Arabia if oil and gas is discovered the only people who will benefit are those wearing suits working for faceless corporations such as RoyalDutch, as seen recently in County Mayo. The Irish Government has made such a huge catalog of mistakes, The Irish Government had the chance to truly improve the country with improved infrastructure such as roads, schools, irrigation and so fourth. Who's making a comparison? Economically, all three nations have a trade deficit and are up to the nose in debt. There is nothing wrong with having those items. The Brits had Ireland for long enough and all they did was rape it for resources. We are still feeding you bastards to this day. At least we still have our country, cities like London, Birmingham and Leicester are now owned by people from 3rd world nations. I voted against the lisbon treaty, twice. Cities like London and Birmingham provided work for millions of Irish when their own country couldn't provide any work for its own citizens back in the 1950's. The education system in Ireland decades ago mainly consisted of Catholicism and Irish, what good is that? And now it seems Ireland is going back to that era again. It's had its day, get ready for a never ending decline. Irelands main industry-construction is well and truly finished.The UK has a fully developed economy, Ireland does not.

I'm all for controlled immigration but opening the doors and letting everyone in is clearly going to cause problems. Ireland was one of only two other EU nations that didn't impose limits on the amount of Eastern Europeans it allowed in. Now it's truly paying the price, sadly so are the Irish people.

Actually, almost all the Slavs have gone home now. The immigrants we have now are mainly, S. American, Asian and African. I'm all for controlled immigration as well. Demographically, the population change in Ireland is mirroring that of England in the 70s. This is a disaster, so is the housing bubble caused by government intervention ie grants and low interest rates. As for the EU grants, don't forget if we were given proper fishing rights that income been higher than the EU grants by now.

Its really frustrating, because I know what needs to be done. Smaller government fucking things up. We need to invest heavily on new energy research, especially zero point and LENR as well as investing in solar, wind and wave. We have the biggest waves in Europe in Bundorran bay. We have decades of gas off the west coast and possibly decades of undiscovered oil. With the smart grid Ireland can prosper from selling energy alone.

Of course investing in new energy will be done half arsed because governments are limited in imagination and that is why I say the US, UK and Ireland are all fucked economically. All the wealth is shifting east. The Yuan will be new world reserve currency for most of the 21st century and lets hope its a gold and/or silver standard. I'm investing in silver right now, the price is suppressed so much is laughable.
