SGU is terrible, the first episode(s) came out and its absolutely terrible, theres no plot and the characters are as thin as their acting, just overall fail

There us a plot and I personally think the characters are relatively deep, for the number of episodes they have been given. Better than what SG-1 achieved in their first six episodes I think.

It's more of a drama show than sci-fi adventure, but it's a drama show with all previous Stargate plots and threads and concepts added to it which I think is a win (or not fail).

Yea, but to Sci-Fi fan, thats the bad part. They turned a kick-ass Sci-Fi show into a drama, throwing in some ideas from the original Sci-Fi show to get viewers. I mean, theres no enemies, and that swarm of bug-things from water doesn't count. They can't possibly 'upgrade', in the sense that how in SG-1 and SGA as the show progressed they came further in their fight against their enemy(s). Stargate SG-1 started with guns and gate travel, but ended in huge space battles! SGU can't do that!

Well not exactly. The still have the whole Stargate universe (universe as in franchise) at their disposal in SGU. If they felt the need they could eventually introduce old enemies back to the fold or new ones to fill that niche.

Also you're right in that SGU can't "upgrade", but that's because they already have spaceships and such in their continuity.

The space battles and explosions before weren't even THAT good. I think taking out some of that and putting in characters is not a bad choice.

I think its the longest-running TV Sci-Fi series, 15 seasons total including Atlantis, and 2 movies, not including what its based off of. It's really good, like a modern Star-Trek, except more realistic and the effects are sweet, in the later seasons.

Actually it isnt more realistic at all. The physics are still as much gibberish. Carter sounds alot like Data. Also the effects in star trek TNG and TOS were ground breaking for there time

Compared to Startrek, and most other Sci Fi shows, like Eureka, it is MORE realistic; I didn't say there was NO technobable in Stargate. I mean, Star Trek practically INVENTED technobable! It is true though that a longer running TV show does not necessarily mean better, I mean look at Buffy! Personally, 2 of my favourites (You can watch at Hulu for free) are John Doe, and Surface, both of which had 21 and 15 episodes, respectively.

I would disagree with you on the more realistic aspect of SG1 vs Star Trek. While both are guilty of technobable, I think If you were to put together a team of Physicists, Astronomers and Biologists they would find that StarGate was more unrealistic. I point to the use of crystals, universal use of English, and intergalactic travel through wormholes without time dilation.
