I am a lurker. I just watch. Today, I smirked when you said you wished to paint all day. You are lucky you have this time off. I have been an artist a long time. I have to pay my bills. I have been a poor bohemian artist and I have been a middle class teaching artist. There are pros and cons of both. Maybe you will find a way before the pigs start a-flying. Oh the blue roses reference reminded me of the "Glass Menagerie". Do you know of it? Blue roses = Pleurosis? :-)
Love the new painting Olivia. I know what you mean about "out with the old and in with the new". I'm feeling it too and loving every minute of it! and hey, pigs will fly someday for ya! =)
Man, you HAVE been busy;) Its amazing to see how full of energy/passion you are when immersed in painting and your drive and focus... quite impressive, too. I'm inspired just watching this! You seem to have "blossomed" into another place = coolio:) Love that you can create on canvas what you experience in your mind/being when you listen to music. This piece is a delight to watch unfold. Thank you for sharing.
If only in a world where we could just do art all day *sighs fingers crossed. Love the current piece you're working on, I'm excited to see how it will come together.
JP again: And I must say, I know you love them Beatles songs, but...my favorite song of all time is Evansblue's "Over." I wonder what you see when you listen to that song, just search for it on YT. :D
JP here: Hehe, I noticed your eyeshadow kinda matches your shirt. Why I noticed that first...I don't know, but it scares me. :(
I love, love, LOVE when artists (regardless of which art) talk about their own art, especially when it's during the process. :D You seem very in control, knowing what you want, you're such a professional!
Ugh... I posted a comment here but it didn't show up.
That energy thing reminds me of my songwriting. If I don't write the whole song all at once, I rarely ever get it done afterwards because the feeling I was writing about is gone.
I know what you mean by "jotting" ideas down. it really doesn't have to be great, but just to get it down so you don't forget about that unique idea you had.
I think what you said towards the end about becoming more inspired when you get rid of old things in your life.. I think that's probably what I need. It makes total sense.
Well thanks for talking about your work :) you're a great artist.
The get-it-done-while-there's-energy thing sounds like how I am when I'm writing lyrics. If I don't write the whole song while I have the feeling I'm writing about, I very, very rarely finish the song. I have about 30 finished lyrics, and probably anywhere from 500 to 1,000 lryics in various states of completion.
I totally feel you on losing the energy of the idea when you over do it. I used to have that problem and it ruined a lot of concepts. I love the painting by the way.
blue roses exist in Speed Racer the movie . JV

i've been meaning to ask you about the "circles and spirals" in your work... is it just an aesthetic choice or something else perhaps?

I'm the same way with my sketches. :) I agree that you can lose the momentum if you put too much into the sketch before starting the painting.
