The Republican right wing has done nothing for 3 years BUT make up lies about President Obama....e.g., he's a Muslim born in Africa. What Michael Moore did to Bush seems tame by comparison. But it IS interesting how perisistent the Michael Moore lie has become. Otherwise thoughtful people to this day are bitter at Bush for the statement, and have no idea that it was lifted out of context and misrepresented. As bad as Bush was, Moore made him seem worse. God bless Michael Moore.
Didn't the West Wing have enough money in the wardrobe budget to properly dress the actors for the Al Smith Dinner? The Dinner is a full dress (white tie and tails) affair, NOT black tie.
I remember the first time I saw a segment of the Al Smith Dinner. It was Bush talking about himself, and Michael Moore tried to make it look as if he was joking not about himself, but about the poor, and as if this was a dinner for evil corporate republican cronies. Hillary Clinton and Al Gore were in the room, and it was a catholic charity dinner. Gore and Bush both tried to appear arrogant just for laughs, with each of them cleverly joking about himself.
@TomerMMHA It's absolutely true that Michael Moore did a number on Bush by taking his Al Smith Dinner comments out of context. On the other hand, an arrogant a***ole like Bush richly deserves all the abuse we can heap on him.
@CarlLafong01 So if a documentarian, whose responsibility is to tell the truth as he understands it, believes Obama is arrogant, you'd support this guy KNOWINGLY making up false stories about Obama, and let millions of people believe them? If Obama, in the minds of some people, is arrogant, is it okay to make up false stories about things he did or didn't support, and connect him with people he had nothing to do with?
Whether any president is arrogant or not, documentarians shouldn't lie to you
