  • Do ya'll understand how dope the word play is on this track???

  • It is so fucking refreshing to hear some real hip hop for once.

  • begining sounds like an mf doom song

  • I love this song

  • Born in 94.. it seems like the only songs i like are from 1985-1995

    it's a beautiful curse.

  • was this a dilla beat????/

  • @GANSTAGANSTER Q-Tip made this beat... he was considered an inspiration to Dilla

  • I miss the Golden Era of Hiphop

  • this joint bonkers still in 2011

  • While i love the singles from this album i think this has got to be one of their best ever tracks, so mesmerizing!

  • @azjass10 yeah, you get me .....lol. Exactly! Busta said the same thing I was feeling in the documentary...when this song comes on in the cd, you get the feeling that hip hop just oozed through you like a bowl of holocaust gruel, but you STILL want more....I got the feeling that Q tip was like " Oh! You niggys thought I was done rhyming?"...

  • From Minnie Ripperton's "Inside My Love"... Love em both!

  • listen to orginal song and you know the sample is longer than what it is it more than than two notes

  • The track to this song is mezmerising.

  • What a classic, makes me wish I lived in the early 90s and 80s. Such a chill track. That one note sound in the background kinda gives a headache though. It's kinda like the whiny synthesizer in g-funk, it's pain in the ears but at the same time you just love it.

  • @fleshnbone187 - QTip took a sample from Minnie Ripperton hitting a high note and he extended it. Crazy as heck! All these years I thought the same about that sound until I seen the documentary where he talks about that sample. Genius Tip is!

  • @fleshnbone187 That note holding in the background is actually the voice of Minnie Ripperton from the song Inside My Love, the note she hits is ridiculously high... She had an amazing voice and the original is great. R.I.P.

  • sick...

  • The KINGS of mainstream UNDER APPRECIATION. Right? Timeless album by the way.

  • THIS IZ MI SONG!!!!!

  • The best song from the best album from the golden era of hip hop. That makes this the best song from the golden era of hip hop!!!!!

  • @broochlihart1 Couldn'nt have said it better money!

  • "Don't worry 'bout gettin' gas, I push the pedal to the medal" Whaaaaat?!?!

  • I bought this cd and Wu Tang "enter da Wu Tang" on the same day when I was in 10th grade......the best day in music in my life....... 92-96 was the best era for hip hop

  • @wesmanchild On Tape? You used to be able to get high on the smell of those tapes.

  • @wesmanchild no to knock down your comment or anything but you have to include the 80's of hip hop being part of the best years in the genre. peace

  • @wesmanchild Damn I am right there with you. Those were truly great times.

  • @wesmanchild more like '88-'93...but I feel you...the golden age of hip-hop

  • R.I.P. Minnie Ripperton....Love Tribe Called Quest

  • True tribe fan's favorite song has to be this one. I start trippin just by listening to this song!

  • My zone out song.

  • I want to sit in on a session with Q tip and watch him work his magic on the MPC...long live Minnie's vibrato !! Can ANYONE tell me where the loop starts and ends for her sample?....I think Tip hid it behind a drum kick

that book has crazy number of real, classic MCs giving advice-in it, i bought-mine off-of Amazon for only 10 bucks....

  • Speak the truth.

  • Yo love this shit 90's flavor for ever. Best decade for music really punk and metal hybridized into grunge, rap getting really good productions values high AND it was still about something, rave flowering techno, hippie shit going strong, even bluegrass, drum and bass, jungle, it didnt matter what you were into you really couldnt go wrong. I always loved that funeral parlor organ sound everybody diggin then MILES DAVIS IN A SILENT WAY-ITS ABOUT THAT TIME the whole blueprint. peace respect love

  • man this use to be my weed out zone song like a mofo... i use to just have this song looping and my mind would zone.... love this track....rip to Minnie Ripperton for the sample

  • its sad that lyrics dont matter anymore :(

  • What a timeless cut with the perfect vibe for any situation... late night chillin, parties, drivin around.... I remember hearin this Minnie Riperton cut years before I even knew who ATCQ were and my favorite part was always that Rhodes interlude towards the end. Once I heard this cut you can imagine how stoked I was that they used that same loop for this cut! Respect!!!

  • i know this sounds cliche as fuck.. atcq is the best bud music.. jus sayin

  • the illuminati controls you.

  • @mvembathegriot : and when people say they love pizza, they reallly mean they love aziago cheese, flour, tomatoes, yeast, and green peppers. You wanna rep old school cool i'm a fan, But give credit where it's due.

  • @KravenMorehead your analogy is flawed. The analogy assumes that classic hip hop uses original concepts (or ingredients), which it DOES NOT; it uses someone else's original concepts. Classic hip-hop is more like me taking Domino's Pizza, Pizza Hut's breadsticks and Papa John's dipping sauce, adding new seasonings, then calling them "Mvemba's world famous pizza & breadsticks" LOL

  • Damn Im lucky to have had Tribe and other groups like Pharcyde to get down to back in the day. Still great hip hop always!!!!!!!

  • To everyone posting in this (& all "classic" hip hop vids, for that matter), you love this Hip Hop because of the SAMPLED music. What you really love about ATCQ is their JAZZ foundation, & Minnie Riperton inside this song..LOL. You also love James Brown, soul, funk, rock & blues, that shaped PE, NWA, Notorious BIG, LL Cool J, Run DMC, & basically every other "classic" hip hop act. So if you going to say you love anyone, love the REAL music that is the foundation of "classic" hip hop.

  • @mvembathegriot the original music would not be able to touch new GENERATIONS without HIPHOP. so we hope you recognize that too. one love <3 :)))

  • 14 people have no lyrics and have nowhere to go

  • @ehit88 I adore this comment.

  • CLASSIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS TAKES ME BACK

  • nothing gets much better than this!

  • 2:17 "YES DREAD!!" ...lol, big up the West Indies influence!

  • i always wished they would have made a video for this song

  • Forever and Always real hip-hop!

  • LOVE IT!

  • classic beat powerful lyrics smooth flow CLASSIC HIP HOP

  • classic beat powerful lyrics smooth flow CLASSIC HIP HOP

  • this a classic

  • Can I click a youtube vid and not see motherfuckers saying this is real hip-hop we all know!

  • Nostalgia has enveloped my being...

  • This is my favorite Tribe song.

  • Phyfe and Q-Tip tear it up as usual.

  • 14 people hit the dislike button by accident

  • is that jay z at the bottom left at 3.54?? haha

  • @domeshizzni no thats DJ Red Alert lol

  • Incredible.....

  • lil wayne is actually gay... he sucked drakes dick as a deal for a contract xD this is a badass song by the way..

  • @prime15able So what if he IS (he ISN'T)?

The same people hating on gays are the same IGNORAMUSES who were hatin' on black Americans in the fifties and sixties, you imbecile. And it's the man screaming "FAG" the loudest that secretly desires a man's embrace. Are your insecurities that overwhelming that you feel the desire to ramble on about men sucking each other off?

You are average (IF). You offer nothing new or unique to the world. You are inconsequential at best...Herb.

  • @djfakt okay it was just a joke no reason to get all butt hurt and make a whole speech about it. I don't care i'll call someone gay if I want and if they are they have no reason to get mad because they are gay, gay men shouldn't be afraid that they are gay like that kid that killed himself.

  • I wonder how Li'l Wayne feels when he goes on YouTube to check out some old school and all of the highest rated comments from every video are posted by users dissing the shit out of him. Tomorrow is Nervous Thursday.

  • why does every hip hop song on you tube have people talking about lil wayne get over it just don't listen to him , none of the artists songs you are commenting on have anything to do with that half assed rapper

  • @jasonrobbins100 i agree with u too its getting anoying

  • @jasonrobbins100 you took the words from my mouth

  • @jasonrobbins100 i feel that. but you know, i used to hate that dude until he actually showed his skills. problem with wayne is his style really doesn't got direction, but for someone without direction, he may be the best. the dude went in on 6 foot 7 foot, but still lacks that direction.

  • word

  • @jasonrobbins100 you realize that you just talked about him right?

  • @jasonrobbins100 i defeintly agree with you but you just opened a whole discussion abut him so how is that possible

  • @jasonrobbins100 You realize that by saying that, you're doing that very thing

  • this is that shit sun.........

  • Beats were made by a producers crew calle "the Ummah" or something lke that... sorry for my english

  • Classic Classic Classic ALBUM!

  • Classic ATCQ!!!!!!!!

  • @051290ma Q-Tip made it. He made most of ATCQ beats, above all the ones from the early years.

  • HOW THE FUCK DID PEOPLE MISS THE LIKE BUTTON

  • This is one of those albums you simply didn't let anyone borrow.....

  • @LegendaryFLA Word!! especially when we used to rock tapes back then lol

  • I feel bad for the 13 people that clearly don't know a fucking jam if it smacked them in the face.

  • @jkeasey79 They don't know what real hip-hop music is.

  • For those that don't know:

    Musician: A Tribe Called Quest

    Song: Lyrics To Go

    Album: Midnight Marauders

    Year: 1993 AD

  • When I speak of Nation don't make the deviation...Tip is a Rap smith.

  • What happened to these days of hip hop, when niggas still knew the meaning of hip hop? HIP= the state of being "in-the-know" HOP= constant movement/ progression of knowledge gained from being in the state of "in-the-know". These faggots from young money, among MANY other money hungry sell outs RUINED the youth with empty ass, candy ass rhymes that don't EDUCATE. any REAL hip hop enthusiast will know that hip hop's purpose is to spread knowledge to the MASSES, not make stupid rhymes for money...

  • I don't think this beat has been reintroduced since this shit dropped. Please don't take this one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • hip hop is 95% dead, all these dudes doing nowadays is rappin
