@mcleanartists Did I ever say Johnathan was a scoring machine or a great goalscorer? There's one thing for sure, we know Johnathan could kick Nilan's ass anytime he wanted to. Both men played role of protecting the real talent on each team. Johnathan definately could do a better job...SO EAT THAT!
Its funny . I met Chris Nilan a couple years ago and he told me that he grew up a Bruins fan of course and loved Stan and Wayne Cashman . If you look at Nilan's style you will find Jonathan's influence in there . Stan was certainly one of the best in NHL 's history along with John Furgesson and Bob Probert.
@BoSoxnation1972 Well I watched it again and me and all the teletubbies gave this one to Nilan,,,not by much though, Jonathan did land more on Nilans arms though, take off your Boston Vision Glasses and you'll see better,,,BTW not a Canadian or Bruins fan, I got no horse in this race
@Hbon56 Every hockey fight website gives this to Jonathan or call it a draw. Nilan is FROM Boston, and Jonathan played for them. I liked both guys, so you could say I had 2 horses in this race. But Jonathan always got the better of Chris.
90% of Boston Bruins fans were saddened by the fact that Chris Nilan became a Bruin.
Chris may live here (native of West Roxbury), but he isn't exactly highly regarded as a Bruin ... or as a person for that matter. Jay Miller, on the other hand -- a Boston native -- is loved here.
@KarmicOmen "90% of Bruin fans were saddened when Chris became a Bruin" LOL Listen, assclown, I did details at the Garden when Chris came here, and he was welcomed with open arms. He was definitely past his prime, but nobody was "sad" that Chris came back home you fucking idiot. Was Jay more beloved in Boston? SURE! Because Jay never played for our arch rival, plus Jay was a better fighter. And of course Nilan wasn't highly regarded as a "Bruin" because the VAST majority of his career, he wasnt!
LMAo pussy I was in the Marines from 1990-1994 and was in the first Gul War jackass, ya fucking turd burgler. LMFAO

I guess you never say Terry O'Reilly kick his ass TWICE badly! They were pretty even because Gillies won his share against Terry as well, but neither was the best ever.
Venus -- dumbass comment even for Youtube. Jonathan 'never a hockey player'? Then please explain how he led the NHL in shooting percentage one year! You must hate Stan because he beat the bejeezus out of several of your heroes.
Jonathan won this fight with Nilan, too. Nilan was a cheap, dirty, marginal player who hung on for dear life in most of his fights. Not in Jonathan's class in any way.
I agree. I played against Stan in the IHL back in 1976 and he was a very tough fighter for his size We had a guy on my team Rick Dorman who played a few games with the flyers and this guy had something like 525PIM
During this era some of the baddest hombres were buried in the low minors. Guys in their 30s who played and brawled for tiny paychecks strictly for the love of the game. In the day, the IHL was haven for legendary brawlers like Willy Trognitz, Dave Birch, Lynn Margarite and Gordie Lane, to merely scratch the surface. Jonathan made his IHL scrapping rep by going toe to toe at center ice with many of these legends, never backing down despite giving up pounds and inches. Live forever Stan J.....
Too bad Jonathan was as stupid as they come out there and frankly was never a hockey player. (He only got 20 because Cherry played him on the power play for half a freaking season to get that 20 for him.) Gillies and Semenko exposed this punk and the rest of the wannabees in Boston.
He had 27 and 21 goal seasons, Semenko couldn't come close to that with friggin Gretzky. Jonathan could play the game and I doubt you've ever actually watched him if you'd make that statement.
Semenko never came close to 30, except 1 year in the juniors back in 77 where he had 27. I doubt he even got 30 shots on goal in a season while in NHL.
LB for LB the best were Stan Johnathon, Terry Ruskowski, Curt Fraser, Garry Howatt, Brian Suter, & Bob McGill. Fraser & McGill were 6:00ft max & no heavier than 190. The others, much smaller. Oh, I forgot Tie Domi.
Please dont ever put a top "pound for pound" list again without mentioning George McPhee. Next to Stan the man Jonathan, he was the next toughest pound for pound.
Jonathon was very tough, but always thought he was kind of cheap when he would scoop the opposing player up by the pants and try to body slam dump him a lot. Very risky move for injury
howatt fought jonathan...from the clip I saw looked like howatt wanted to duke and jonathan less so and wrestle instead---not that that's bad but hardly shows joanthan could beat howatt!!!
I'll trade you some sticks, pucks, tape , and some used jock straps for JOE THORNTON. Duh, ok......lolololol..ahahahahahahaha. The Bruins are hopeless. 1972 and counting. GO HABS GO.
I think they traded Stan in 1981 to Pittsburgh.

That and Jonathan did jack shit after Cherry left.

You're thinking of somebody else because Semenko never scored 30 at any level of hockey anywhere.
Jonathan's 21 goal season was after Cherry left. The guy had a short career because he was only 5-8 and took on anybody.
