  • Let me tell you... I switched to this keyboard many years ago and I would never go back. I love this thing!!!!!!!!! t takes just a little getting used to, but once you do, you'll hate regular keyboards. I also tried learning Dvorak... man, that was really hard... I quit, unfortunately. But for this KB... LOVE IT!!!!!!

  • Ridiculous, honestly.

  • Moi je l’ai acheté et j’en suis content. Je l’ai choisi complètement vierge et je le fais marcher en bépo.

  • why don't they use better keys for that keyboard??

  • some good points and good ideas -- but can a square grid be the answer if the lower arms are in an "upside-down V" shape when you reach in front of you? The individual keys should have a similar "upside-down V" offset so the fingers can follow the columns better..

I'd prefer to have two Keyboard halves like the Kinesis Freestyle!

  • @thetilo check out the truly ergonomic keyboard, very similar but v-shaped

  • some good points and good ideas -- but can a square grid be the answer if the lower arms are in an "upside-down V" shape when you reach in front of you? The individual keys should have a similar "upside-down V" offset so the fingers can follow the columns better..

  • wish I could have my laptop set up like this.

Oh well, I'm still buying it.

  • started using TypeMatrix keyboards 5 years ago and never looked back.

  • THIS IS RIPPING PPLS MONEY. I CAN TURN THE KEYBOARD UPSIDE DOWN AND SELL IT.

  • @delkhairio LOL... maybe you could... but this kb rocks.

  • How is putting your eight fingers in a short, horizontal line comfortable? The TypeMatrix is pretty nice, but I don't want my keyboard to be a straight plank. I use an ergonomic (split) keyboard, because I have a right hand and a left hand. The people at TypeMatrix overlooked the fact those hands are very different...

  • @MarijnvdZaag: simply because staggered keyboards need the hands to type in an asymmetrical fashion. Split keyboards just accommodate the main problem by rotating complete blocks of the keyboard while keeping the reason for the problems, staggered keys, intact. Contrary to intuition the matrix layout solves the problems at once because the asymmetrical staggering between left and right hand is eliminated.

  • yeah take a keyboard, change the place of all the characters so you need to learn them all over again, great for boring vacations!

  • @TotaleVerkankering: You get used to new layouts pretty fast.

  • The little finger can stretch further than the "strong finger"

  • @NikkyyyHD: Yes, but it is more prone to suffer from too much strain, which is what the new layout is about.

  • @albedoshader Yes well I don't press the Backspace key with my little finger anyway and my hand isn't in the same position while i'm typing

  • @albedoshader: Me neither. I’m using the NEO2 keyboard layout, specialized for German and programming.

  • fuck off ass hole.. OMG! sorry for the bad words, i thought it says hello everyone.. still new to my Dvorak..

  • Hmm.. Actually this makes sense. Very great concept in my opinion.

  • The comparisons of Enter and Shift aren't really fair, since you don't actually hit the center of the keys, you hit the edges. So the reach isn't as far as the video makes you think.

    Otherwise, I agree.

  • If you manage to change 50% of people who use the old keyboard to yours, I'll buy it.

  • @SWBF2Reviews The change always begin from a minority of people...

  • @SWBF2Reviews this is the most ridiculous thing i've ever heard. This is just a other idea, an invention, if you find it works for you then you want the same for your friends, family and the world.

  • @SWBF2Reviews You don't do it because everyone else is. Just like the old world of owning slaves, you don't say convince 50% of the people to freed their slaves then I would too. If a tool works for you, you are the one who benefit from. When the world recognizes the tool works for them too and so they'll take advantage of it. I just disagreed with your way of thinking.

  • @ChuBeTiXiu

calm down it was just fucking comment. its not like it carries any importance

  • When I saw the dvorak-labeled one, I woke up :-D

I think I'll take one of these, please!

  • that would be hard to get used to.

  • @markwitter123 Not at all, because it is more logical for the brain and the hands...

My first matrix keyboard is a Data desk Smart board and I have this feeling the first time I type on it...

  • lol , any 1 , what i type for get the ~ symbol

  • I wish someone could give this to me for free in my neccessary game i need i soft keyboard which they don't sell here in my country ughhh! (=.+)

  • I love more the music than the keyboard, anyway to get this music?

  • if you're in the business of sitting at a computer 8 hours a day at work or something, then you can get used to it very easily i would think, however i would still prefer the 'traditional' layout - with practice your little-finger gets stronger. you're only pressing a key, not hammering in a nail - if you play guitar, violin, piano or something, you're taught to use all available fingers anyway

  • @Magnemitey

Well technology evolves and changes, and that makes things better and better everyday, so what's wrong with improving the keyboard. We all are afraid to change, even to better things, just because of what we're used to. I don't know if this keyboard is more comfortable or not (due to the straight layout), but trying to change things should be encouraged. Moving the Backspace key was already done by Microsoft. Maybe moving other keys is good too. Time will tell.

  • @viencafe this keyboard is amazing... I use it with a french dvorak...

The straight layout is fantastic... but you know what ? the society will not change and you will still have that stupid qwerty and these idiotic stagered keys in 50 years... i'am sick of it...

sorry for the bad english. ;-)

  • @Magnemitey If you mean Dvorak, yes, it takes time, but I switched years ago and have been happier ever since. If you mean the straight columns, that hardly takes any time to get used to, and it's so much better.

In either case, new generations of kids are learning to type every day! They should start with something better.

  • @SpikedSkull I agree with this. I type on the Colemak layout and I've purchased the 2030, waiting for it to come and can't wait. In regards to kids starting to learn an alternate layout, I do agree with you, but after a long debate with one of my programming friends, he convinced me that even if there are better alternatives out there, kids should still learn QWERTY because it's what is in the mainstream. After they learn QWERTY, they can decide if they want to switch away.

  • @Magnemitey Speak for yourself. Efficiency wins out in the end. I love the placement of backspace and enter keys in the middle.

  • @Magnemitey I think one month max of getting used to a new layout is hardly going to kill you. On the other hand, the most illogical layout QWERTY being the de facto standard for so long does inure your hands, reduce efficacy and productiveness and comfort.

It's like saying DST (Daylight Saving Time) is such a hassle but in the end it does serve its purpose.

  • @1felagund: According to a study women need about 2-3 weeks and men one to two weeks longer to get accustomed to this keyboard. You can download the PDF with details on the study from their website.

  • my littlefinger is fucking made out of PURE POWER!!!

  • @knarkis90 hahaha

  • qwerty is best

  • @MrPlaystationboy

I'am sorry but qwerty is the most stupid random layout ever... thank you by the way, because we, the french use a mutated Qwerty call the Azerty... :-(

Dvorak us is better for writting in english, french, spanish etc etc...

  • i would really need to get use to and i don't like how the placed the shift cuz in truth your stretching more on the right and i don't like using left shift for right typing...

  • Omg I would buy this keyboard for the Free USB Adapter already :D

  • What's the music? Reminds me of an old demo or mod...

  • wow so ,amy problems and its really ok right now someone just wanted to invent something

  • Get a mac...

  • see the problem is though, if you have a job that only allows you to use the job's keyboard instead of you bringing in your own, you'd have to remember how to type normally and like this one

  • Big problem indeed...

May be you can lie and pretend medical reasons xD

    «My hands are killing me Doctor ! » ^_^

  • Except the letters cross over the numbers on the number pad.... which is bad if you have to use both constantly and while left right separation is a good typing method many people who can type extremely fast use a crossover method where the hand closest to the key based on previous finger placement is used which means that now people with that typing method have to move further. I would have instead narrowed the space bar a little and put the delete and enter functions there instead

  • Google Typematrix 2020. ^_^

  • Best keyboard ever ! I will make a video for youtube and dailymotion.

  • nothing special.

  • It should be more ergonomic.

  • You mean compare to a splitted keyboard ?

No the typematrix 2030 is far more superior and believe me I use natural keyboard since 2000 and own the three major different version... (Classic, multimedia and the 4000)

Theses keyboards are great but still staggered...

unlike the Datadesk smartboard (splitted keyboard with aligned keys)

But firstly I was thinking like you...

  • Just got it ! it's a really amazing keyboard ! I love it !

  • Meh, I don't really like it. To different to what I grew up with

  • DAVORAK!!!

  • DVORAK aint it?

  • yeah... keyboard not the composer, lol. My bad.

  • Who dumb shits though that it is a problem you use your pinky on the backspave and enter button?

  • From the typos in your comment, I'd say you probably aren't using the backspace key enough.

  • I'm not from America or Brittain so...

  • ʎɐqǝ uo pɹɐoqʎǝʞ ɐ ʎnq oʇ ƃuıoƃ ɯɐ ı ǝɯıʇ ʇsɐן ǝɥʇ sı sıɥʇ

  • how did you do that.

  • @cainisme lol that made me lagh so hard xD

  • @cainisme Be that as it me, why go to the trouble of typing this upside down?

  • @cainisme how tha hel did you turn the leters up side down

  • ale kurwa gowno.... hahha ktos ma ladnie najebane zeby takie cos wymyslac ehh

  • This is a retarded idea ... because 4/5 people know how to type fast and accurate... soo ... only 1/5 people in the world would use this keyboard the key's are made like that for a reason..

  • Staggered keys and Qwerty Layout are very and retarded creation...

The reason is the human stupidity the most powerful force on earth :D

Anyway use Dvorak and ergonomic keyboard keyboard and mouse ! save your hands...

  • "are very and retarded creation"

wow.. human stupidity in the world IS powerful!

I just love it when people who attempt to mock someone fail.

  • ̉Haha, Sorry but english isn't my natural langage...

I forgot to type some words (even in french) and if I don't read, It can be awful...

  • bad grammar and punctuation and splelingh

  • splelingh ? bad keyboard I presume ? ;-)

Anyway I will receive this Typematrix 2030 tomorrow... I think I will make a vid to promote this excellent US creation...

  • COOL

  • you dont need it

  • Looks great, but man I'd get so disoriented going from this to a regular keyboard.

  • Like you can speak several langage, you can use different keyboard and/or Layout (Dvorak/ Qwerty)

I use a great Natural Keyboard 4000 with a french Dvorak but I can use too my nice Keytronic straight keyboard with a Qwerty layout ;-)

    I don't feel lost (20 years of Qwerty O_ô )

But this only my opinion, you must try if you really want to know ^_^

  • Das Keyboard Ultimate...

Stop arguing... just buy a Das Keyboard...

  • The Typematrix 2030 is available with blank key...

The only thing better on the Das Keyboard is the mechanical keys...

But the Typematrix have really good keys...

  • wouldnt you be worried that youd accidently hit the enter or the backspace buttons........ i mean there right in the center of the key board

  • Combine the Typematrix 2030 and the Kinesis Freestyle (with Dvorak Layout of course) and you have one of the greatest keyboard ever ! xD

  • yep, I wished this keyboard was a split keyboard.

    an Wireless! (both modules)

  • At list splitted ^_^ but for a 'small' production a wireless will increase too much the price...

  • Its difficult to find a keyboard that is as well thought out as this one. I used to use the UNIX layout (the IBM layout was a step in the wrong direction) which you can get with keyboards like the Sun Type 7 or Happy Hacking Keyboard. Nice to finally have one that compares.

  • If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

  • Theyve created something that need to be be created. lol

  • I would never be able to use this as effectively as I do a standard keyboard. And I have no reason to do so, either. Why mess with what works?

  • that would screw me up so bad does anyone know the keyboard were theres like a laser that projects a keyboard on ur desk lol i want that one rofl

  • Yea..

    I've heard of those keyboards..

    I want it so badly..

Dad's been to japan and he saw it..

but the projector is just to expensive

  • i had one of these, very comfortable to type on.

  • Hey ! there is no vids from a lucky owner on youtube may be you can do one \o/ no ? xD

    ok anyone else ? ;-)

  • I learnt the "Blind typing" and I can say that the backspace in NOT the weakest "link".

The buttons was designed for hands,

The new designe made for robots.

It must be someones best idea, but this someone never typed with "Blind typing".

    Anyway, thx for the video.

  • this is Fuckre

  • Hmm, interesting concept. I like how they combine they include the numpad into the keyboard and shrink it in size. Putting the return and backspace key in the middle is also a very good idea. The only thing I'm not sure about, is the grid align of the keyboard. When I put my hands on an ordinary keyboard, my fingers automatically lie over some keys, which wouldnt work an a grid layout IMO.

  • I like this because of the dvorak skins- Very nice...

  • i think the delete key should be left where it is because it encourages people not to make as many mistakes... the enter key and they shift keys are not that hard to reach..... imo

  • ok this is cool, but it can't change what has become a standard for over 30 years.

  • id love to use that

  • this is stupid...

  • i prefer traditional keyboard. That's a good cocept, but is wierd :S

  • its a good idea. but people are so used to the normal setting of their keyboards. this is ana amazing keyboard, but it will not be sucessful in the actual market. there have been lots of re designed keyboard companies who all went bank rupt.

  • This is an awesome idea and it's great that it comes in Dvorak.

  • LOL why does anyone want a new keyboarrd layout, you would have to learn to type AGAIN...

and if ur scroll. caps and num lock come on... just press the caps or scroll lock buttons to turn them off...???

  • technacly your not going to learn to type again... your just going to learn to, type a bit differently... the keys arnt staggered, and they are sepreated down the middle.... idk.... just pointing that out....

  • well, people with problems in their hands might want a redesigned keyboard, and some programmers use keyboards like that... just because its more comfortable to type on for 5 or so hours without stopping

  • no one wants to re acclimatize to a new keyboard, it was a stupid idea

  • i agree, i saw this and thought it was funny.

  • someone help me plz my computer key board is messed when i either turn on my computer or plug in my key board the caps num and scroll lock lights light up can anyone help ?

  • i love this keyboard but im gonna invent a better one before 2030

  • robots will create a better one than you by 2030 because they'll be smarter than us already

  • where do u get this?

  • I want the Dvorak version

  • Using this keyboard would probably make me sick to my stomach. lol "weakest finger". Ya my keys are insanely hard to press, good thing I have strong fingers.

  • Still your first finger is stronger than your pinky..

  • lol. You're right. I can't argue with that. =)

  • Actually your pinky is the source of 80% of your hands grip. Weakest I DONT THINK SO.

( Just try to make a fist holding your pinky straight up it is a much weaker grip )

  • Yes, that's hard, but that has more to do with coupling between the little finger and ring finger; you can't move them independently. That's perfectly consistent with the pinky being the weakest finger.

  • Pretty cool. Ugly colour though. But I don't think I've had much trouble with the normal keyboards either...

  • This would not improve typing and would result in much wrist strain. Modern keyboards have kept this staggered layout to follow the natural inward/outward stroke of fingers. Completely vertical movements are not natural when the hands ore in typing position.

  • i agree

  • really?

    well try to press "v".

the shortest and most natural way is from "f" to a inbetween of "c" and "v"

also in this case you move your finger only, without moving your writst

    try it on your keyboard!

  • This is a good idea, but it is still a QWERTY keyboard. It would be much better if it were Dvorak.

  • I like the thought you put into it but if you haven't noticed, all keyboards have a universal setup and changing that is almost impossible considering the hundreds of millions (guessed) of people who have computers are used the the normal setup. Kinda neat idea though.

  • Wow; with this keyboard, I'll have to force my wrists to align closer to a 90 degree angle more than ever before!

For those of you with standard size keyboards, get a taste of this keyboard with the Del, End, Page Down, and the 7,8,9,+ keys of your numpad.

  • that'll take some getting used to

  • I want that keyboard! I'ts sooo cool.....

  • were can u get that?

  • I'm typing this comment out on that keyboard right this instant. Bought it last year.

  • sta tutto ammucchiato, non si capisce niente

  • With such an unconventional design, if the idea was as mediocre as the clueless sheep here love to fantasize, the company would have gone bankrupt long ago.

I'm certainly willing to give it a try.

  • ...è come mettere il pedale della frizione al opsto del freno e l'acceleratoe al posto della frizione!!! Mah! Mi sembra inutile.

  • I learned touch-typing in two weeks with this baby. Never managed to do it with the old qwerty. Oh, just remember to get the Dvorak one. It's excellent for gaming also.

  • No thanks, I don't feel like re-learning how to type. I perfer my layout.

  • I would normally comment a huge reason for the likes/dislikes on something like this, but this has got to be THE dumbest thing I have come across...so many things to pick apart that there's just not enough time and there's a word limit on youtube, so I just say it's retarded, and good for nothing.

  • Sabriath said:

'I just say it's retarded, and good for nothing.'

Wow, that's a pretty retarded comment. You haven't even tried it, or mentioned why you think it's bad. There are a lot of weird alternative keyboard out there, but this keyboard really makes a lot of sense.

  • The reason for the original design was not ONLY because of typewriter specs as stated by the film, it was also created because our fingers actually lay diagonally inward. The motion needed on a square keyboard places stress on the outside of your wrist. For someone who can type, the backspace key is hardly used and does not need to be THAT close to the primary finger, etc. etc...it's like making a piano with all the octaves above each other, sometimes an idea is just crappy, this is one of them.

  • "The reason for the original design was not ONLY because of typewriter specs as stated by the film, it was also created because our fingers actually lay diagonally inward."

That doesn't make sense. If that's true, why are ALL of the keys on a typewriter slanted the same way? Shouldn't the left half be slanted the opposite direction, or vice-versa?

  • I agree, a standard keyboard is terrible for the left hand.

And in response to sabriaths comparison with a piano: Have you ever seen a button accordion? It doesn't get much more effective than that (yes it's slanted, but it's for ONE hand (on each side)). Unlike most of you I actually did some research. I would actually like to have a proper discussion about keyboard effectiveness, but I guess the comment field on youtube isn't really the place.

  • yeah, that guy you just talked about is a moron, he doesn't know between an egg and a rock.

  • 'For all you fucking idiots who think that 2030 or 3000 even reffers to an actual year then no doubt your fucking americans. This keyboard is already out and shit. Use your own common sense, did you even think numbers always reffer to dates and shit? Thickheads I tell you.'

    a. im english

    b. i was being sarcastic, we have that in england

    c. why swear all the time? not enough intellience to express yourself in a intellectual manner?

  • geezz super nerds, i prefer staggered keyboard because thats most common qand 1 ive been using for 15 years now.

  • peeprox1991 is exactly right weve had this for 100 years and its been no problem it dont matter that your pinky is the weakest finger cus theyr not exactly hard to push are they... and if you have the return and backspace button in the middle your gunna get messages like "heya hunny you ok had to g" from miss typing and hitting return early and anyway who that doesnt work in accounts touch types? i hit the keys with my middle fingers...

  • For all you fucking idiots who think that 2030 or 3000 even reffers to an actual year then no doubt your fucking americans. This keyboard is already out and shit. Use your own common sense, did you even think numbers always reffer to dates and shit? Thickheads I tell you.

  • so in 23 years we'll have learnt how to put keyboards with parallel keys. wow.

oh and a free usb adaptor!

  • It doesn't have to be the number of a year, it could be the number of the model, or just some flashy name. The Nokia 3310 isn't the phone of the future (it's obsolete). Yet, it follows the same type of naming convention. Think before you type.

  • Güzel bir klavyeye benziyor. Alışma zamanı olacak ve denemeden işe yaradığını söylemek zor.

  • nice keyboard...

    for 2001.

  • You guys are fuckin losers, get a life

  • the keys are slanted so there is less chance of you hitting more than one key at a time. it doesnt make you any quicker, because the short distances that ur fingers have to travel, and the speed at which you can move them, means that it would make next to no difference where u had the keys, as long as you knew where they were

  • Then why aren't ten-key pads slanted? (You know, like the ones employees use in supermarkets) They're extremely fast and accurate. And do you really think bending your fingers diagonally isn't worse than only moving them up and down?

  • (A) Left hand was sacrificed for right handed slanting, the slant is slight so if both were slanted inward, you'd have some keys overlapping. (B) Ten-key pads were designed AFTER the keyboard, and they either keep their hands lifted when using it, or they strain the outside wrist muscle as I stated based on the up-down positioning...carpel tunnel I think they call it (spelling might be wrong)

  • (A) Fact: the slanting is a artifact of old typewriters.

(B&C) If you position your arms correctly (no bending of the wrist), the diagonal bend of the fingers will be 'canceled out' by the bending of the arms inword. BTW the bending you are talking about is the OTHER way. It's the arm that makes the fingers on the right hand slant left. The fingers slant to the right when bent.

  • Unfortunantly there has been little research on which is best of slanted or straight keys. However there is no doubt that slanting of the keys in only one direction for two hands isn't the best idea.

  • Well, most children learn through doing. They touch something hot, they burn themselves, they no longer touch it. I was fortunate enough to have intelligence prior to the trial-error stage, I never touched the hot pan because I knew it would hurt even though I never really touched it. This is the same concept.

  • Even if I don't buy it and try it first hand, I can easily draw a picture of it and "try it" out and I already can feel tension on my wrists. Some of the key positions really make no sense, but then again it might be trained bias thinking that.

  • There was at one point a keyboard with split positions in slant inward on both hands (can't remember it now, but imagine breaking a keyboard down the tgb-yhn line). I have tried this keyboard and as comfortable as it is for office work, it REALLY sucks for gaming. That one didn't make it very far, and I don't see this one going either.

  • and (C) Diagonal bend of the fingers is genetic (unless you happen to be a freak). Your pinky is smaller than your middle finger and if you lay your hand down, it will show that bend. Your outside palms are also built up in strength to support pressure while the inside curve of the thumb to first finger is meant for slack, as such, the hand lays more comfortably with the fingers facing inward

  • As far as me not trying it in order for my claims to be justified...well, I have enough forethought in not wasting my time or money on such an invention. Sure it might feel "better" or make your games "easier," but in the long run, I can bet too much use will cause hand and wrist complications.

  • You can 'bet' all you want, it won't make it fact. True, an ergonomic (split maybe) keyboard is probably better against hand and wrist complications, but the TypeMatrix is no worse than a standard keyboard. It's probably a bit better because it's very flat and you don't have to move your hands around as much. One of the main points is that it's faster and easier. Everybody doesn't work as a secretery you know.

  • Oh btw, I can't believe you just admitted that it's better and easier. But since you haven't actually tried it, I now know your just pulling words out of your ass.

I'm sure people would rather read comments from people who actually has some experience with it.

  • thats gay, i like my keyboard slanted, it had a more relaxed feel to it.

  • That's just ugly and confusing. The keys are slanted because their designed that way.

  • Wow i like the music! Is there anywhere i can download this?

  • awesom vid made me want to buy one lol

  • laughing my ass off that is the stupidest looking keyboard ever

  • I dont understand a lot of the benefits. The green lines are supposed to mean better than the red lines, I presume but... why? Is it shorter distance to move ur finger? I think the horizontal enter, backspace, and shift keys are nice. I almost demand that shift be big since the bigger it is, the less exact you have to be and still hit it accurately. Also, I never use backspace much and even when I do, it's reflexive and I use the middle finger.

  • A NEW STANDARD IN 2030

    TYPE MATRIX QUALITY KEYBOARD Obfuscatory
