@samymenassa what do you expect? The guy said the boy only had 10 lessons along with what 60 other kids? And on top of that hes 7 years old! Lol. Hes not bad in my opinion.
Point taken. I enjoy dense rich african rythms and play the djembe and the darbouka myself. However the kid still seems off to me. I feel he is stuck to the same beat which doesn't blend in well with the music his father is producing and alternating. He has potential and is quite agile, just not my taste
@samymenassa Sorry for my hasty and cynical reply... The rhythms are quite dense and simulate conversation. Drum relays were used to communicate complex messages across empires in Africa faster than anything until the telegraph. So it may be a bit much if you're not used to it. lol
Willie, I seen you at the Big Beat last year. I just think its great how you take the time to help kids learn music. I got my first kit when I turned 11 and 3 adult musicians gave me a chance to come on stage and play along with them. Little did they know it would change my life forever. At age 12 I became their full time drummer. I am now 14 and have played over 400 gigs with my band ROUGH SHOT here in South Florida. Kids cannot do it by themself.
DIO, Grazie di aver creato tali creature =)

You would get more sound if you had the drums lifted higher.

It's great that Broward County has the money to give a monetary grant to these folks to play the congas. What could be wrong with the economy?

The performance was great! but the interview was too long. Oh yes, and one day the boy will be a master percussionist, no doubt!
