  • they look like humans

  • Sounds like my neighborhood in the summer time.

  • I'd keep those in my back yard just to annoy the neighbors.

  • siamang

  • These are siamangs. This is alrge specie of gibbon.

  • I remember seeing this with the announcer saying "Monkeys Make Funny Noises." If anyone have this in the late 80's episode of Sesame Street, may wish to post that segment.

  • Anybody got the updated version of this film? I used to remember seeing it. It had a commentary track of a man saying "Monkeys Makes funny noises." It was in the 80's or somewhat.

  • Ah yes, the infamous howler monkeys. They made a recent dramatic appearance in the BBC's Planet Earth.

  • Those are siamangs not howlers.

  • I used to think they were saying "Muh-boo! Muh-boo M-m-m-m-moo! AAAAAAAAH! Muh-boo!"

  • I haven't seen this in over 25 years. My 20 month old is sitting with me right now with a huge grin. He thinks they're saying no. no no :-)

I'm trying to find the one of a boy climbing a tree to get a coconut - has anyone seen it recently?

  • Hi wattamack4 I still have lion371. But Ihave this name now too.

  • I have been looking for this one for YEARS !!! Thanx so much for this and ALL your old SS vids... we have Siamangs here in the Milwaukee County Zoo and they do this ALL the time. I ALWAYS thought about this skit when I hear them. By the way, figure about 30 years since I've seen this !!

  • I remember they ran this in the 80's episode of Sesame Street. Except that we do not just hear the monkeys screeching, We also hear an off-screen man saying "Monkeys makes funny noises." I actually saw this on the late 80's episode of Sesame Street. Perhaps SesameStreet's account might have the updateted version of this film.

  • Hilarious but worth remembering! It's awesome to go retro!

  • These are gibbons.

  • Yep, I go to the zoo alot, watch animal planet and read alot too. I go to the zoo so much many not all, But many know me by name. I stay in in zoo till closed for the day also. And sometimes go back the next day.

  • Gibbons and siamangs live in Asia.

  • You sure do know your facts about animals huh?

  • Yeah, When I saw this, It did have the announcer's voice. He said "Monkeys can make funny noises."

  • The little tan animal at the end of this video is a gibbon. could be a white handed gibbon.

  • No, kevmike, Those big black monkeys are siamangs. Siamangs are in the gibbon family. Gibbons are apes. Apes don't have tails monkeys do.

  • Another animals related to a monkey is a Marmoset. I remember the song on insert of the Sesame Street Creature Feature called "The Marmoset Song" And it went "Come inside the forest, With the Marmoset...."

  • What zoo is this?

  • I totally remamber this! Nope! Nope! Nope! Nope! Nope! Nope! Nope! Nope!

  • Thank you for putting this up, this is brilliant, and totally imprinted on my aural memory.

  • Hey! I believe that in the first segment, they are Howler Monkeys, native to South American rainforests....thanks for the great clip!

  • nOW WHEN I 1ST SAW THIS WHEN I WAS SMALL a man would say, Monkies make funnt noises. And in later years you wouldn't hear this at the beginning.

Also sorry for the capa at the beginning, accidently hit the C button.

  • I like to see that. I remember this was on Sesame Street. I saw this insert right after the Craig Bartlett's Claymation Stop Motion animated film, Marty the Chair finds his glasses. I really wanted to see that. Does anybody have this film with the announcer in it?
