  • Theres nothing strange about boys wearing kilts for irish dancing, me & my brother both wear kilts for dancing, were not forced to wear them we wear them because we want to, rather wear a kilt than a dance dress like my sister as to.

  • theyre such good dancers. I do find the kilts a little strange, but I think if guys would like to wear that for dance then they should go ahead. I guess you would have more leg freedom.

  • They're all so cute and little! And such amazing dancers...*is envious*

  • i'm not saying that the girls are bad, but i'm impressed by the dancing here :)

  • I`m glad the boys don`t wear skrts for irish dancing anymore

  • Woah...I've never seen a boy wear a skirt aside from scottish danicng.

  • Unfortunately, they don't wear them anymore. When Riverdance came out nearly all of the boys switched to wearing the black trousers. Shame really to lose this tradition but must say the black trousers do look smart.

  • @zspinks78

The kilt and jacket and mantle also looked very smart and quite unique to Irish Dancing.

  • what yr was this in?

  • 1994

  • go on mr murphy give the young man some tips!!!

  • OMG it is so different from today! The costumes, the styles, everything!

  • Hmm... they're amazing dancers but was it common for boys' steps to be more simple at this time? My brother's are more complicated than these steps and he's in advanced beginner. Granted, he can't dance them nearly half that well.

  • Steps have naturally progressed to become not necessarily harder but more intricate. SO for example whereas back then you might do , hop 1,2,3 and jump over, now days you'd do, hop 1 slip change, bicycle and jump!! And they also do these CRAZY spins nowdays, which personally i can't stand, but each to their own.!

  • I'm an irish dancer im 8 turning 9 and can you give me any tips?

  • practise as hard as you can and continue with your dancing as long as it's fun, when it's not fun any more is the time to stop! try to eat healthy things like chicken and fish and pasta and if you can walk to school as often as possible the cardiovascular exercise you will get from walking will give you more stamina for dancing. most of all don't listen to negative peope and don't let them get you down!

  • thanks for the tip! i have retired from dancing tho :(

  • me too but I'm going back in September I do ballet
