I was born in a conservative, religious home and still am. I am a believer BUT I was NEVER crazy about marriage. Ever since I was young I had a mature image of marriage. If I ever got married it would be a choice I thought through for YEARS. I don't want a mediocre life with a husband and kids, I WANT THE BEST POSSIBLE LIFE. I want to get educated so I can educate my future children. I want to get a career job so I can save up to give my child the most flourished and advantageous life possible.

Good video. You pretty much stated my thoughts on marriage today. I came to the decision a few years ago that I will never get married or have children. However, I think everyone should do what makes them happy...but sometimes self-sacrifice leads to better relationships and therefore a better life. You and the woman in the video are wrong about marriage in what God wants. Marriage was created by ancient Greeks to stop thievery. It was used to stop by making it a crime to the woman that was with a king or a rich/ powerful man to have children from another man's child inheriting. Once again, all comes down to money.
Oh yeah, the idea of god is a man made idea so therefore no matter how you look at it, marriage is a man made idea too.

Good video. You pretty much stated my thoughts on marriage today. I came to the decision a few years ago that I will never get married or have children. I just don't have the desire to be a mother or a wife to anyone, and society needs to stop taking it so personal that there are women and men who don't want a traditional marriage today.

@jankraw Men need to be more involved...that's how. Why should only 1 person be independent in the marriage? From what I understand too, men want things to always be done their way, and often support prescribed gender roles by constantly encouraging boys to "toughen up" and be "men". If I was a mother I think I would be fed up with that and leave too.

I respectfully disagree with you, sis. Marriage was instituted in the Garden of Eden between Adam and Eve. After the Fall and the influence of sin, humans distorted God's design of marriage (i.e. treating women like second-class citizens, etc.). Marriage, as God designed it and followed as such, actually protects women and requires men to be responsible providers for their families. Marriage is good. I look forward to it with the right man. My mom and dad just made 35 years and are happy.

Today's way of life is a complex affairs of money, emotions, societal conducts, political turmoil, and more. I have been married for a while now my wife was born in west africa, i am a black american and it depends on the two people who are getting married, my wife was not exposed to all this anti marriage propaganda that you have here in the states you rarely see single parent African families for a reason but you see plenty of Black american single parents because of their upbringing and their view of there men and women.

Yes i see some of what you are saying but african marriages are lasting and you don't see african men leaving children behind to be raised by women like you do here in the states. Socially the united states is third world in a lot of ways its citizens relate to one another and that spills over into marriage and family, unfortunately that issue and a few more are why marriage is failing here in the states.

@Kandyce1978 It seems people (men and women) have an inner need to share their lives with someone. Most people I've seen that are so against marriage....end up lonely and bitter. However, I think everyone should do what makes them happy...but sometimes self-sacrifice leads to better relationships and therefore a better life. Self-centeredness in humans leads to most of their unhappy feelings.

@Kandyce1978 I always say to young men that they should not marry, should not ever get women pregnant, should not live with them and should never support them financially. Marriage is a trap for men. The only exceptions should be older men marrying older women WHO HAVE MONEY OF THEIR OWN.
