From listening to the man in the video tell the story of how it happened, apparently the shooting stopped after Pat tossed the smoke grenade and he thought it was now safe to stand and identify himself. It also sounds like Pat spoke those infamous last words as he lay wounded. Why desecrate the man's memory? The only thing from O'Neal's statement that isn't clarified is that physicians determined that Pat was shot three times in the head at approximately 9.5 meters (30 feet) away, in addition to being shot in the body. The head shots were clustered, meaning someone took aim. It was also broad daylight, Tillman and O'Neal were barely obscured, so those pulling the trigger really should have known what they were shooting at...

I am an Atheist but I have studied the Bible & I think much of what Jesus says & the overall message Jesus he teaches is positive...However, it seems the majority of American Christians, at least the ones that actually vote, completely ignore most of what Jesus says & tend to adhere to an almost "anti" Christ view of the world. Stock piling wealth, using the Bible to openly discriminate against whole groups of people including women & even demonizing the poor &needy!

@sarsfieldusmc Well, I can honestly say all through my childhood as I was being indoctrinated as a Christian I never was told that "God" was to spelled "GOD"...It was always "God" as that was his name not a description of what he is. So, I honestly felt you were being disrespectful, not to me, but to Pat Tillman as other Christians have been once they found out he was not who they thought he was. Having said that I agree there is no need for insults only respect & honor for Pat & his family!

He was a kind man who believed everyone was equal. Religion has no business in describing Pat Tillmans beliefs.

Yes he may have been an Atheist at the time when he was with his family. don't you forget that while he was on tour he was reading religious texts including the Bible, Qu'ran and The Book of Mormons. She talks about how it makes her uncomfortable that Pat got a lot of focus when there are thousands of families out there dealing with the same loss. And who knows how many families that the military lied to about how they died! Mary Tillman is using Pat's fame to help other military families.

I know this may sound odd but you should be able to understand but it can help to know or read about the fact others are going through the same thing. Mary's book is awesome on so many levels & I think after reading it you will come away with a drastically different idea of who Pat Tillman & the Tillman Family are. Not that you have a negative view but I know you will be pleasantly pleased!

Tillman is my fellow brother in arms...even though we have a different view on life, I still look up to that man. I was in Jr. high when I saw that he died, and my heart was crushed. I am now 19, fighting for the same thing he fought for...Freedom...the same freedom that gives you the right to post idiotic comments such as yours.

From listening to the man in the video tell the story of how it happened, apparently the shooting stopped after Pat tossed the smoke grenade and he thought it was now safe to stand and identify himself. It also sounds like Pat spoke those infamous last words as he lay wounded. Why desecrate the man's memory? He was trying to do what was right for our country even though he questioned it after he was there. His family doesn't need to see your thoughts, they are in enough pain.

JFK, RFK, MLK, and Pat Tillman were all high profile figures that opposed the war of their time. In all cases the war being opposed was never declared, but was rather a military intervention that was drummed up around lies and faulty intel. In all cases the above military interventions had the effect of transferring billions of tax payer dollers into the pockets of a few. All of the above were shot in the head.

Let me get this straight, It was friendly fire for sure. Does the enemy have smoke grenades? So, if you are an American solder firing on the enemy and that enemy displays a smoke grenade, what would be the logical thought. A) The enemy stole a hum-v or what ever and smoke grenades to make us think they were one of us, or B) Given the situation this might be an American Unit, and we should confirm.! The one question that was not asked was where on the body were the bullet wholes.
