@scottyBoland to be honest, i was in slow sweep innicially, and the guy running the meter was controlling the tones after that, i don't know the frequency. i believe in the mid 40's.
@bawward sorry i don't mean to be a jackass, 150 on AC meter, but i'd say mid 140s on TL type 2 12" type X mainly because those subs are control drivers GREAT SQ which was alpines intention behind the whole Type X series, most people just scream NOOOO THEIR SPLLL, well think this if they were SPL drivers and intended to be, why the hell would they only offer 10 and 12's? their control drivers ;) buts till reguardless nice system my friend =D
@scottyBoland no, i totally agree, very much SQ, wouldn't have spend the money otherwise, Type R's would have been the way to go. Great SPL, but way better SQ. And about the meter, yeah, i dont know much about those. don't know what system type, what note, etc. he told me what the reading was, i was good with it. i didn't bother much because i honestly don't care... it's fun, don't get me wrong, but it's not about the volume. again, type r's for that.
@scottyBoland you're right, the Type R's are solid, basically Alpine's work horse, and being able to be wired down to 1 ohm is pretty sick as well, but after a lot of listening, reading and research, the X's were the choice.
@bawward hands down they'll hit lower notes with the exception being the 15 inch type r's but still if your looking ultimate SQ and dont want focal or JL... jl sucks just lol LOL @ all W7s type X's are superb try running just one once and see how your driver response will increase ;) my buddy did a solo type r 12 and is going type X but that type R has handled 1000rms for over a year, thank O-Scope for gains!
mine is sealed for accuracy. the type X's are 1000 RMS each, so i don't need loud, the subs do that. but, i do like clean sounding music, so sealed suits my purposes... and it can get really, really loud if needed.
Looks good. Im glad that you got another mrd-1005 because those alpine amps can really put out a lot of power. I have almost the same system as you but my cap is only 8 farads.
the mrd's are beasts, they really are. and i don't know why id get a pdx, these things run super cold... only ONCE have they been even slightly warm to the touch.
and i don't know what i think of my power cap yet... i think it does it's job, but havn't really tried this system without it, so i don't know if it's worth it or not. but hey, it's there, so whatever! the yellow top and high output alt were the biggest additions though, TONS of help in the power department!!!
i had the 1210a like 4 years ago...hated it....didnt have a 24db slope only a 12db....didnt like the vocals playin through the sub.....Have you been metered because that does not look like a 145db on termlab
o nice! the mrd 1005 is a nice amp! i use to run a type-x off the 1210a at 4ohms, then hooked it up to a jl 500/1....and the jl was louder then the infinity....thats when i knew to ditch it
you're right. at first, i had only the infinity running 1 type x (previous movie) then i got another type x, with the mrd. after running one sub at a time on the diff amps, there was a pretty big difference, so i went with two mrds now, movie coming soon! lol
there isn't any sound difference... maybe a slight increase in spl, but not much at all. the one thing that you do gain though is port noise and mechanical noises that would otherwise be dampened inside the box. because the sub is a mechanical part, it does mach noise when it moves in and out, especially a sub with a lot of power. you don't hear it unless you're standing right in front of it though.
also, i did it because the box i have is on the smaller side. it's ok, but i wanted as much box volume as i could get, because when you mount the subs, they take up a fair amount of that box volume (especially subs that mount deeply) so i flipped them reverse so i could gain some cubic air
gotta love the type x's man i wanna get some just gotta w8 to do some other shit to my car....how much did you pay for your alternator and your battery?
Yup, I had one, but just got the second one. It is a fair amount louder, I was impressed actually, because even though the cubic air space for each sub is less than what I had for just the one, it still sounds great... if anything, the sound is tighter too.
and honestly, if you're patient, ebay and craigslist have some great finds, just be patient.
well, there's one power cap in line, then a distribution block, then one amp per sub (they are big amps too!). they have to put out 1000 RMS at 2 ohm by one channel. so yea. the infinity is actually slightly bigger than the alpine, but im trying to sell it to get two of the alpine amps.
150db? no way, how what Freq

@bawward bingo ;) i had type R's at one point and they thumped pretty good, and no problem ;) it is a nice system!

That is not dynamat!!! It is a different brand.
caraudioman16 1 year ago
@caraudioman16 hehe, if you state the obvious you'll never be wrong.
Yes, it is a different brand, but for sake of time and explaining things, it's dynomat.
bawward 1 year ago
@bawward not trying to argue, but it is spelled dynamat. With an "a" not an "o"
caraudioman16 1 year ago
@caraudioman16 welp, in a non-arguing way, thanks! never been that hot at spelling.

whats louder a fiberglass box or a ported box
MrBenbejamin 1 year ago
@MrBenbejamin a ported fiberglass box.
mine is sealed for accuracy. the type X's are 1000 RMS each, so i don't need loud, the subs do that. but, i do like clean sounding music, so sealed suits my purposes... and it can get really, really loud if needed.

looks, and to create more cubic air space inside the box for the subs (the box is slightly on the small side, although not too small)

i actually sold the 1210a for another mrd-m1005, and everything (seriosuly) is much louder. the 1210 dosn't put out like the alpine.
it's been metered at 144.8, but with the new amp, i can hear the difference, so i know they will go louder, but havn't had them metered yet.
thanks for the comment!

is there any differance in puttin the subs in the box backward like that?

wire your subs + to - though (reversed).
its mostly for show

well... i got the battery from "Remy Battery", and it cost in the neighborhood of $140.
Then I got the alt. online, it ran around $250.

so you have 2 amps powering both subs? or each sub?
