Strides, I am a marine. And I can tell you from personal experience that, operationally, marines perform better than the army. it's not what is trained, but more so, HOW we train. Ask any soldier about Army history... Battles, Heroes, meanings of uniform items... 9 out of 10 will not be able to tell you. Now, ask a marine. There's a lot of pride that goes into being a marine and with that a lot of Heart we put into our performance. That is why we are better.

@strides1000 we have completely different missions which means the end results are not the same. Marines are meant to be the force that strikes first and strikes fast. Marines are meant to be that first shock and awe blow to knock the enemy off balance. The Army is a larger more cumbersome force that is meant for longer attrition type warfare. They are trained to use their large numbers to fight where as Marines have to use their superior training to fight. Its a fact not opinion

let me correct myself .based on what ive read the attrition rate for marine training may vary some say 12% while others around 30%,nonetheless its still lower then the rangers.

Its a proven fact, even stated multiple times on the discovery and military channels and on the USMC official website. The rangers are a SPEC. ops OFF-BRANCH of the army. You cant compare basic to a highly elite off branch. If your going to compare characteristics compare the Rangers to Scout Snipers.

A Marine gets a title for graduating 13 weeks at Paris Island. You earn your Ranger Tab by going to a 9 week boot camp, a 3 week Airborne School, a 3 week RIP, and an 9 week Ranger School. that's 24 weeks compared to 13
you're comparing some of the army's most elite to the very basic marine. and 13 weeks is just the boot camp. after that marines go to MOS school. marine infantry school is 8 to 10 weeks. and every marine qualifies for ranger school directly after boot camp. only the army's best qualifies for ranger school, but a cook in the marines qualifies for it. it is a fact that marine training is far more intense than army

Strides, I am a marine. And I can tell you from personal experience that, operationally, marines perform better than the army. it's not what is trained, but more so, HOW we train. Ask any soldier about Army history... Battles, Heroes, meanings of uniform items... 9 out of 10 will not be able to tell you. Now, ask a marine. There's a lot of pride that goes into being a marine and with that a lot of Heart we put into our performance. That is why we are better.

I served with the Marine Corps as a FMF Corpsman for 21 years and I can say in complete certainty that Marine Force Recon is pretty fucking hardcore. To say such stupid shit about the Marine Corp could only come from military wannabes or guys with a shit Rating/ MOS, etc. Ive never met people with more honor and courage than Navy Corpsman and US Marines. However, Army isn't that bad either. Get over yourselves shithead, all branches deserve equal respect for what they do for us.

I still don't understand why people say that one part of the army is better then the other. like ammobluff92 for example. The marines trained to be tougher then any other unit? yea right.. no, thats why the army is devided into several parts. 1 of them is the marine. Yea sure they are the best in what they do because that's what we train m for.. But we've got so many different tasks for the army, that's why they've got the SEALS, Rangers and I don't know how many other special units.

Plus all the Army guys on here thinking you are better, it's not the case. marine Corps states that you shouldn't travel in uniform, let alone go around town in it unless you are running an errand for work or going to and from work. @strides1000 actually to correct you and yes i don't serve in any branch but i will be soon. every branch dose have its on standards for how the soldier is trained don't get me wrong Ranges are great and so are marines but the standards, and training process is much different so to say at the end of the day its the same the army will not be as "good" as the marines as the Marines will not be "good" as the army so saying its the same standard is pretty incorrect and just ignore the idiots.

@strides1000 we have completely different missions which means the end results are not the same. Marines are meant to be the force that strikes first and strikes fast. Marines are meant to be that first shock and awe blow to knock the enemy off balance. The Army is a larger more cumbersome force that is meant for longer attrition type warfare. They are trained to use their large numbers to fight where as Marines have to use their superior training to fight. Its a fact not opinion

yea i kinda agree with that, but at the same time, you're still comparing special ops army to regular marines. marines have special ops. and yes ranger school is tough, but when it comes to actual boot camp, marines boot is the toughest of all the branches. and rangers are awesome, dont get me wrong, but you can't compare rangers to regular marines. rangers are comparable to marine spec ops. but if you compare regular army infantry marine infantry, marines are better. thats a fact.

i respectfully disagree,marines are tough but. for 1 they do not fall under the special operations command,the rangers do,2nd the marines lower the standards for women.rangers do not allow women at all.because they're training is more intense.3rd the rangers wash out rate in training falls between 40-50%,marines wash out rate is approx 12%.based on that the rangers training is more intense.

Its a proven fact, even stated multiple times on the discovery and military channels and on the USMC official website. The rangers are a SPEC. ops OFF-BRANCH of the army. You cant compare basic to a highly elite off branch. If your going to compare characteristics compare the Rangers to Scout Snipers.

A Marine gets a title for graduating 13 weeks at Paris Island. You earn your Ranger Tab by going to a 9 week boot camp, a 3 week Airborne School, a 3 week RIP, and an 9 week Ranger School. that's 24 weeks compared to 13

you're comparing some of the army's most elite to the very basic marine. and 13 weeks is just the boot camp. after that marines go to MOS school. marine infantry school is 8 to 10 weeks. and every marine qualifies for ranger school directly after boot camp. only the army's best qualifies for ranger school, but a cook in the marines qualifies for it. it is a fact that marine training is far more intense than army
