What a pity that the music accompanying this film is totally inappropriate. Whoever chose music hall comedy music of the era --and most of it is popular incidental music intended for farce and light comedy, indeed - didn't have a clue what this story is all about.
Let me ammend my last remark. Griffth wrote the "screenplay" of an Enoch Arden film in 1915, which was directed by Christy Cabanne and starred Lillian Gish.(oddly, the Cabanne film is credited to Griffith anyway in the titles) The film featured here is actually the one directed by Griffith in 1911
Griffes actually made two films about Enoch Arden. The one featured here is the first. He made another, with Lillian Gish, a few years later. I have that one in my collection.

I'm actually only watching this because I wanted to see what it would be like to put youtube's 1911 filter on a 1911 movie.
