  • ha ucciso Handel

  • EXCEPTIONNELLE! Vous etes une merveille de cette terre!

  • so beautiful! :)

Brava!

  • I'm studying this piece this semester and I definitely will use this recording as my reference!

  • DI UNA BELLEZZA STRAZIANTE...

  • Goosebumps ... can't say the same thing of all the versions.

  • Cecilia Bartoli has the voice of an angel. This is probably the best rendition of this piece that i've ever heard. A truly touching performance.

  • Brava Cecilia! Merci AV

  • The best phrasing of this piece. She sings it as a crying patriot. Straight to the lyric...straight from the heart. Love her timing and volume....It's the cry of freedom. Makes me cry. It moves like sadness on the heart.

  • simplemente hermoso, intenso, silencio...

  • simplemente hermoso, intenso, silencio...

  • semplicemente perfetta!

  • Belíssimo.

  • Very modest and tasteful performance. Very touching. Very Best..

  • Amazing...

  • Magnifica!

Grazie per aver postato questo brano.

  • Di solito non amo particolarmente la Bartoli! Ma questa esecuzione è stupenda....

  • Perfezione Assoluta

  • ti amo

  • This thing is all light! .All light! Just light...

  • Oh yeah! Antichrist´s Von Trier

  • Yes it is Cecilia Bartoli's voice, as we can easily understand this is a mezzo voice. Małas-Godlewska indeed gave the voice to farinelli's film, try to ear it, because it's a different kind of voice. I prefer this one, it's softer.

  • This is one of the most beautiful voice recordings I have ever heard. Here a translation of the major lines:

Let me weep over my cruel fate, and let me sigh for liberty.

May sorrow break these chains Of my sufferings, for pity's sake.

  • IS NOT BARTOLI SINGING THIS PIECE. IT'S MALAS-GODLEWSKA!!!!

IN THIS FILM, SHE SINGS ANOTHER SONG.

  • @Vinibach I´m sorry but I don´t agree with you. Both are quite different interpretations and the tone is different too. I also prefer this one like nienores, it´s much more elegant and quiet, full of emotion.

  • Meu Deus! Isto é Divino! Não há comparações

  • Sheer perfection!

  • She gave her voice to Farinelli.

  • @TheNotMK It's not true! imdb says "Both male and female voices were combined to create the sound of Farinelli's singing voice. The male voice was Derek Lee Ragin, a British countertenor and the female Ewa Małas-Godlewska, a Polish mezzo-soprano"

  • @qstaa not mezzo-soprano, but coloratura soprano.

  • @TheNotMK

It was not Bartoli. It was Ewa Małas-Godlewska who gave her vice to the film.

  • it´s soo beautiful! Cecilia Bartoli, I love you! <3

  • "Let me weep over my cruel fate

And sigh for my lost freedom"

  • maravilloso

  • heaven in my soul...GRANDIOSA!!!!!!!!!

  • can anyone tell me this version is from which album ? Thanks !

just totally fall in love with this version.

  • Simplemente....MARAVILLOSA!!!!!!!!!!

  • BRAvO

  • Divine!

  • I have been looking for this version since the demise of imeem…This piece was written specifically for her voice..Even if you do not understand the language, the emotion in this song is just palpable!! If I heard her live, I would just die from crying.

  • @sweettickler :thats very true , I dont even know any of what she says nor I try to find the lyrics , just enjoying listening to that with closed eyes means too much

  • it's toooooooooo beautiful

  • Hnnnng, she's amazing.

  • Breathtakingly beautiful, Ms. Bartoli sets the bar ultra-high in this incredible aria by Handel. Her voice is crisp, yet effortless, with unbelievable breath control. One can easily fall for her lush yet deep mezzo soprano voice.

While Maria Callas had more power and could be a bit overwhelming at times, I still appreciate Ms. Bartoli's soft, yet subtile intensity, along with her uncanny and unparalleled ability to grip the music and carry into her soul.

Thank you for posting this piece.

  • Cecilia is one of the world wonders. her voice is heavenly! <3

  • by far the most beautiful version of one of the most beautiful arias ever written. It is just so expressive and addictive to listen to. brava!

  • best version ever..

  • @piccoloBu - have you heard Jaroussky's?

  • Words can not express this beauty.

Imagine an audience in pure silence.

Now please let's be quiet and LET ME CRY ;-)

    Dank je wel

  • @dercluracan "Imagine an audience in pure silence"...yes, I like that. Isn't that pure time travel. We just need to be human, to have ears to enjoy that feeling like those old fellows. You're right. Just like replying to a one year old comment hehe

I'm going to listen to it again...in pure silence.

  • Amazing! Why no comments?
