Hmm I'd have to disagree with you on this one Iman. Think of it from a different perspective - where you speak a little bit of a different language but aren't fluent, trying to communicate with someone that IS fluent in that language. If they speak exactly as they normally do, it can be very difficult to understand them - the words all seem to mesh together - but if they slow down and use an english accent, it's much easier to work your way through and understand.

I LOVE Reading Rainbow! lol I took high school psych, too (actually it was a college course, so I guess it's college psych 101?) and we learned that Motherese (the term for the way people talk to babies) is actually something they can't help. People just do it. =]P

for the language thing, it's because sometimes the person who can't speak English well can only understand what you're trying to say if you say it the way they can say it. for example, my mom doesn't speak English well and she pronounces juice like "ju-cee (2 syllables) when i tell her i want juice in English she doesn't understand what I want but when i say i want ju-cee she gets it.

This is why I no longer care if my socks match. It is impossible to keep up with them so why stress on if they match up. Especially dress socks with a suit. I hate it when people talk to babies with baby talk like that it sounds so ignorant lol. I talk to children as equals because that is how I wanted to be treated. The sock thing I have what are called sock savers they are two plastic rings w/ teeth in them attached to another so you pull the socks through when you are done using them and then watch them like that. The thin socks though get holes in them. I have heard safety pins work in the wash but I would think that would make holes too.
