i was in japan this past summer (my roommate from university was japanese, finally got to visit her), and i am in luhhh with that country. i wanna move there, but speak very, very little japanese. did you know japanese before moving there? did you learn it on the fly, or in classes, etc?
ALSO, HEY. i was told to say 'suimasen', rather than the 'sumimasen' the old japanese-travel-language book told me to say. is there a reason for the difference? different meaning?
LOL I love how people always say what the first english a japanese person learns is "this is a pen". When my mom first told me I was laughing. XD I mean, out of all things a pen.
Hey, when i'm 18 i'll be going to Japan for 2 years for a language course. Gotta work to pay for the apartment, food etc. Any pointers for arrival and up to a week in?
@Deadkandy Forget the distal (teinego) form for survival Japanese. There is usually no t on the end of the Japanese word for toilet. So you could simply say "toire?" to get one.
I think my anime-english would suffice for just being a tourist... But what if a zombie apocalypse were to happen when I was in Tokyo? How would I ask for a safe heaven or maybe something like... Shottogun wa doko desuka?
heeeey bro!

Book off 最高!でも、安く買っちゃたらまともに買えなくなるかも。。。ww

This is a good lesson and true. Don't let your lack of Japanese language skills hold you back from going to Japan. Just go.
Did anyone ever tell you if you "Book-Off" too much you may just go blind?

Oh yeah,
"Chotto ukagaitaikoto ga arun desukedo" is really useful if you want to ask questions.
They should know to say Arigatou gozaimasu after everytimes someone helps them.

Vanawesome and Tessa coming to Japan, they MUST go to multiple neko cafes. Cat lovers. They'd be in heaven.
And... this reminds me of the beginning of an old video o' mine.... back when I used to over-edit stuff...
