Great video. I am older, and am studying with a great drummer . . . . but I never comprehended what could be done with a double paradiddle til I saw your video. Thank you man, for helping me understand how important it is to master the rudiments.
Nice video keep up the good work. Also thanks for showing me how to use the paradiddle on the kit. It's too bad people make the comments they do......I guess their glass is always half empty.
how long does it take for you to tear down your kit, and then set it back up? like if you were going to a gig or going to practice with a band or something?
@flymarvin haha. normally I don't reply to idiots like you. but I'll have some fun with this one. With the 10 trillion videos that there are on youtube.. why are you wasting your time watching mine, obviously you searched for something for this vid to pop up... Secondly I live in Canada, and this video is available worldwide so It's not just about you.. Your profile says you are 49 years old.. REALLY?? you sure you're not 9 years old still living with mom eating Kraft Dinner.
@mikemichalkowdrums Haha, Nice one. Reppen' Canada. Also, clearly this guy has never seen much of your other work, in which you clearly do rock, jazz, etc
@flymarvin Get the fuck out man, this guy can play some serious beats and what do you do. Sit in your boxers trollin on videos because your an arse hole. So shut your mouth.
@flymarvin * This is an american asshole. Get the spelling right at leased before you go sounding like a jackass. & fuck off. Your the one sitting on your ass watching American T.V. programs everyday. America rules the world that's probably why your so upset.
@flymarvin You're an idiot. I just thought I would let you know. Beats and rhythms are universal. And, um, I'm American, and love rock n' roll, but it was founded in the UK. Have a nice day.
@philconey11 Actually, Rock & Roll came from African Americans in the USA. The UK did eventually play a part in the development of the genre, but that came after. And anyways, I think you're thinking of Punk, which originated at about the same time in both NYC and the UK.
@flymarvin I myself at the age of 42 self taught by playing my knees and finally being able to afford a used 13 piece 1967 slingerland completly enjoy your instruction. There is a lot more than 4/4 rock out there, which is what I have played most my life, but I am now reaching out for knowledge since my technique is SLOWLY comming together. Its PERCUSSIONIST like yourself that make me stride to entertain the masses with a complete and well rounded style that blows their brains out. Thanks
Hi Mike my name is blake. I have been drumming for 5 years now and Im having some proplems with my stick holding. its like when I have been drumming for 10 to 15 min my thumbs and part of my palm start to hurt and start to go numb then I lose complete control of my sticks. I dont know whats wrong maybe you could help me and show me a exercise or a warm up that I can do to prevent this from happening agian. thank you
Try playin' straight triplets between the hats (w/ foot as the" trip") and the bass drum (as the "ple et") underneat that same groove. . .works great and is not so herky jerky.
Thanks for the lesson...I've been learning triplet grooves (e.g., Bernard Purdie half-time shuffle - although I prefer to call it a "triplet groove") which can group 12 strokes to a measure...just adding 4 single-strokes within a simple (8-stroke) paradiddle groove adds to my repertoire of 12-stroke measures...great!
It's a credit to drums altogether (and perhaps on other instruments as well) that playing something simple on different pieces (drums/cymbals) can sometimes sound rich and intricate (and interesting)...thanks for the lesson...keep up the good work!...

Hey Renerich23, that fill is just alternating singles between the snare and mounted tom....that one is actually pretty easy....for a real challenge....move the singles to the floor tom and kick.
