  • Beautiful piece by a great guitarist. Uh...someone should have ironed his shirt before the show, it looks like he fished it out of the hamper...

  • Great music

  • This is agreat music!!!!!!

  • Genius of guitar, one of the greatest masters!

  • Lovely. Always think it sounds better on a steel-strung acoustic though (as per the recorded 1972 original).

  • Quando ascolti cose di questo genere rimani senza parole... immenso Steve!

  • if hackett had been born some centuries earlier , .............. i cannot image what have been changed all around.

  • Cool ...

  • legend

  • Immensa...

  • And yes, I do feel lucky...for having seen this wonderful clip.

  • beautiful! but l prefere the more austere slow version of the album.anyway Great man ....

  • Beautiful !!! Sends chills up my spine ..

  • Increible, puro sentimiento

  • At the end his left eyelashes are playing too.

  • What an impressive resonance! It seems as if a whole orchestra is playing or at least Bach`s organ

  • Walking across the sitting room...I turn the televsion on...sitting beside you...I look inot your eyes...as the sound of motor cars fades in the night time...I swear I saw your face change...it didn't seem quite right...

  • Amazing takes me back many years, I still have the Foxtrot LP in my collection...

  • Take your time slow down!

  • There are pieces of music which, regardless how bad things are, just make you feel good. This is one of them.

  • there are many great covers of this on uTube, but non are as great as steve himself doing it live. He really puts his heart into it.

  • grandeeeeeeeee

  • Slow Down!

  • @macpatdaddy Excellen comment! He is rushing this thing. Nice tune, but not a great performance.

  • Magic!

  • um..WOW...

  • foxtrot rules

  • Damn that guy is great!

  • @naildatbomb though it sounds a lot like the cello suite it was unintentional. Steve Hackett said he must have just had it in his head when he wrote this.

  • how come when i play it (and even if it's especially good and correct), I can never sound like that??

  • the man is gifted

  • truly, Steve is a Master of the Craft- where are you now ?

  • This piece is not written by Bach and, thus, it is not Bach's Prelude in C Major. If you listen to the 2 pieces, any discerning mind can discern that they are not the same pieces of music.

This is originally written by Hackett, and originally performed by him.

  • @Slip1man But of course it's inspired by the Prelude to Bach's Cello Suite 1. This is clear, and he means it to be quite clear.

  • @Slip1man

well, of course not the Prelude in C. But definitely a theme quote from the Cellosuite no1 in G. Even the same key, come on...

  • Bach, Prelude in C Major??? What I do not think that question or plagiarism or a subtle one copy, it is rather the result of some inspiration, suggestions, but only that. Except the intro really do not resemble too

  • sublime!

  • @igalflint D'accordissimo

  • Yes...exactly like Prelude in C Major - in that it's music and is the result of a musician playing an instrument. Other than than it's nothing like it. At all.

  • Steve Hackett a true master of guitar, with great feeling for tone and how to play the instrument!

  • Epic....this man oozes it! Pure skill!

  • J.S. Bach Prelude in C major

  • it´s my feeling ....

  • Nice.

I do prefer it on a steel strung accoustic as opposed to a nylon classical though

  • @PXR05 So do I.

  • nice suit detective Callahan.

  • Lovely guitar work there by dirty harry

  • @ste75n I knew he was good with a gun but not a guitar...lol.

  • There are similarities with Bach's Cello Suite #1 in the timing but Horizons seems to have greater subtly and touch. And I agree with the comment re Eastwood and Jones - why did Hackett feel the need to grow such a heavy beard as a young man. He looks much better without it!

  • A gem

  • simply epic!!!

  • In this video Steve looks like a cross between Clint Eastwood & a young Tom Jones.ANyone else out there agree or am I losing it? Thx for the post ,Beautiful.

  • dio mio, niente di più dolce...

  • I-L-O-V-E-Y-O-U

  • Hackett est fabuleux !!! Honteusement sous-estimé ...

    Un grand bonhomme...

Steve, you are sooooooooooo great !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Wonderful!

  • Really good, where is the rest of suppers ready?

  • @ponzalina Its not part of Supper's Ready...

  • lovely

  • He looks like a young Christopher Walkin

  • steve at its best

greetings from an old progger from berlin :-)

  • MAESTRO!!!

  • it's nothing to do with Bach's Cello Suite. Horizons is much more intrincated and complicated to play.

of course great musicians are influenced by all sounds arround and their brain makes the rest.

  • 0:19 it looks so much the Bach's prelude

  • see efectivamente una de las mejores canciones de genecis y steve hackett pero bueno algunos no lo entiende y piden metal

    !!!jajajaja pobres

  • If you love Horizons you should listen to Bach's Cello Suite no. 1 :-)

  • @vonhaller that is what I thought this was !

  • @vonhaller I DID ! Well, you learn a new thing every day ! thanks for your comment

  • E' stato molto bello poterlo ascoltare. Grazie

  • I remember long trips in my dad's car with only genesis albums on repeat, great memories. I love it.

  • I absolutely LOVE this track, it is so moving... reminds me of better times...

  • I can almost hear the vocals right after this piece.

    Walking across

    The sitting room

    I turn the televsion off

Sitting beside you, I look into your eyes...

  • @codematrix

    yes,true...peter gabriel

  • @codematrix When I was a kid I thought that Horizons was actually part of Supper's Ready, then, when I got an MP3 of Supper's Ready I thought "Where's the guitar intro?"... Just then I knew that Horizons was another song

  • @CoTeCiOtm I did too. so i have to listen to them both together for the complete trip..haha

  • @codematrix You trot your fox then? lol

  • @codematrix ... to take them to the new Jerusalem

By the time you typed the first four lines your supper must have been ready !

  • This is the song of my childhood - my dad always played it to me and my siblings when we were little. Such a beautiful song. :)

  • mettttttttttttttttttttttal!

  • I heard him playing this beautiful piece in Zoetermeer Holland on Oct 29th 2009. Marvelous!!

  • el màs corto pero tambièn uno de los màs buenos !!

  • "Horizon's", es el tema más corto que hay en el álbum "Foxtrot" del grupo Genesis.

  • Marvelous.

  • Genesis were never the same after he left!!

  • I will see him at the Prog-Rock Festival next month, can't wait.

  • well, how was the fest?

  • this is originally Bach

  • Only the first part of the main theme, as Hackett readily admits.

  • What do you mean by writing this is originally Bach...where can we hear Bach's version? Any youtube link?

  • + 1))))

  • @naildatbomb

Are you serious ? I thought Hacket wrote it ?

  • @naildatbomb Parts of it are and parts of it arent

  • @naildatbomb Well, Bach wrote many things for musicians of all time, right? ;)

  • @naildatbomb maybe I borrow that original idea, and a certain air about it, but is an original. I'm talking about Bach, hey, he he

"Entre dos Aguas," which gave so famous Paco de Lucia, is actually the work of a guitarist still alive, but sick and unknown Niño (Child) Miguel, and some work more ... some succeed, others are forgotten

  • @naildatbomb what bach piece is it? kind of sound like cello suite....

  • @naildatbomb Not really...it uses the main theme from the prelude of Bach's first cello suite but otherwise it's its own piece...

  • @naildatbomb

BWV 1007, first solo cello suite, first movement
