It isn't even "quick and dirty", it's just useless. Even in the easy example picture, the sky and the reflections in the water are totally fucked up by an unqualified use of Photoshop's healing tool.

You can easily imagine what will happen when you try to remove a watermark from parts of pictures that contain great details, e. g. faces etc.

Apart from that: watermarks are there for a reason, not just to piss people off,

Those of you that are saying that it looks terrible clearly were not watching properly and need to listen more. At the start of the video he showed us what the final product was and this looked awesome and no signs of editing, his tutorial was a quick run through of how to do this he was not making it perfect he was just showing us how to do it. Alot of people post their photos online WITH watermarks because they want to promote them so people will buy their prints. If people are going to remove them and then say, send that to someone else, the photo will then be available for printing for free.

Honestly, some people make art for a living and if you are going to take away their credit/watermark from the image, it can make them lose money/profit.

When using the Clone Stamp Tool for the water, it looks like shit, when you did it. When you do stuff like skin/water/reflections, set the opacity down more. Like 60-70% and apply it in layers, instead of a solid copy of what it around it.

I am an artist myself and I understand that people who love art would want to have a piece of artwork without a watermark, but that's why you buy or ask the artist for a copy with no mark. You may have good intentions for this video, and people have good intentions for using this, but not everyone does. You ARE promoting theft unintentionally because people who want to do this use these videos and tutorials to do it. This causes it to happen more because they know it's there free for them.

Thanks for reminding photographers why we need to post fuzzier images with more obtrusive watermarks. When people complain about our watermarks, we'll just send them to this video so they understand how people are stealing our images. Love the comments about saving money on Grad photos! This is why more and more photographers are reluctant to post thier images on-line. You must really like that show that explains all the magician's secrets too. Technically photographers are stealing light for their own purposes. Giving and taking is fact. As rule of thumb in life is to not interfere with another man's work. That applies to murder and stealing, rape tax evasion etc.. Water marks are a nuisance and speak to a larger issue of greed. There are better ways of making money than being in someone's face. If your work becomes famous from others quotation then you'll have the last word on where that work originated from.

im not promoting photography theft in any way. I simply teach people a technique. Posting an image with a watermark online means that it is available to the public. If people chose to download and edit the image, that is their right. It is however illegal if you were to distribute the image, claim rights to it, or sell it without the artist's permission. It's time like these when I wish I had photoshop. I have GIMP because I'm poor, and it SO much harder to get rid of watermarks. I ended up using the Smudge tool... VERY carefully.

I have the tool, but it didn't work for what I was doing. I had a watermark going across a girl's face, so it probably wouldn't have mattered if I had photo editing software from the future.
