Then the third one showed that when he was younger he was a bit arrogant in a wise cracking jokester way. With the 4th game though he's almost there just to make fun of how serious the game is trying to be. Bosses that in any of his other games would have been something he seriously tried to take down instead have him ogling nudes and making Shakesperian monologues.

Nero's story was all dramatic and romance driven and serious, but whenever Dante did anything at all he almost seemed to be there just to laugh at how hard a time Nero had with the fight. Nero would take it seriously, and then Dante would dick about. Not saying it was a bad thing, just that I'm not surprised they're trying to pull Dante back into being a serious character like he used to be.

Dante>Nero IMO.

Don't get me wrong, Nero is a badass, but he's just a regular badass- the super strong, quick to anger type who never talks much.

Dante manages to be a total badass, with the awesome powers and whatnot, while still being absolutely hilarious, sexy, and confident. Plus, let's be honest- if Dante really wanted to kill Nero, the fight wouldn't last five seconds before Nero was a stain on the floor.
