Monacomaverick is right, This game sucked ass compared to the first Rally cross.. They dumbed down the physics, and RUINED the game.. It just goes to show, one must not always listen to only critics. Because sometimes they underrate games (like this), and overrate others..
I have to say I'm a fan of the Rally Cross series. The glimpse of this track really shows how differently designed this game was from the first game. Much less bumpy.
I can honestly say this game was my first glimpse into 'rallying'. Then it was Colin McRae and then Rallisport Challenge. Also, the track editor got me into level design. I'd kill to design or even develop real lift tracks.
I noticed a glitch with the loading map of this track. It shows the Little Woods map instead. Little Woods also shows this track map in the loading screen. I noticed that all secret tracks beside this one were tests of the custom track editor. The only thing I didn't like about the track editor is that you can only have 90 degree turns. But if your smart you can make extra turns of a 90 degree if you use certain track pieces. I love this game I was just playing it earlyer today!
Yup, you are right. I noticed this problem right before we shipped the game and it was too late to fix it. I made 2 tracks, one out of track editor pieces and one custom track as seen in this video. The programmer got my 2 track maps mixed up.
Why was it not put into the main game? I can see that they just added you guys track editor tests pieces on for fun. But why was this not in the main game? I mean it was not made with track editor. I know that Jungle was in Rally Cross 1 and I don't know about Oasis. But this track should have been in the main game.
SONY 989 wanted this track in the main season mode of the game but it was too late. All the programming was finished for the season mode and adding it at last minute would have caused more work. I made this track after finishing up CoolBoarders3 and it was kind of a rush to get it in the game before it shipped. We were just supposed to make some extra track editor tracks but I had to design a full on track that was good for the faster cars.
Wow.. It's an honor to be speaking to someone that helped develop such a great game. Even years after the day I got this, my first video game, as a homecoming gift for arriving to Canada from Russia, I still play it to this day. I just wanted to properly thank you, Chris, for, not only introducing me to video games through Rally Cross 2, but into my lifes passion, racing, as well.
Hey, glad you like the game! I'm playing "Dirt" right now on the 360, it's a pretty fun rally game. I still think RallySport Challenge 2 is my favorite rally game though, along with RallyCross 2 of course.
Yeah, Dirt was definitely fun. I liked the new, unique physics, but I thought they were meant to stay there, instead of CodeMasters designing Grid. But then again, that's all it's meant to be: an arcade game. Even though I'm more of the hardcore simulation racer, it's nice to kick back and play some old fashion arcade racing.
Please explain to me, how I can design my own tracks as well. I have lots of knowledge in 3D modeling, but I have no knowledge of how I can rip down the game and creat custom tracks. I still play this game to this day, and it would be great to add a personal touch to the game I'd always play as a kid. Thanks.

I loved the first Rally Cross, but the sequel's handling simply did not look or feel right. It ruined the game for me.

Glad you still enjoy the game.

Oh, well glad they included it in bonus and that people post cheat codes on the internet!

you made the rally cross games?
orzabal1983islove 2 years ago
The RC2 track editor lets you build and save basic tracks with pre-defined pieces. For custom tracks you need to develop games.
DownSideRider 3 years ago
Wait, since it says you designed this track, does this mean you were a developer for this game?
Remokari 3 years ago
That's correct.

If you really played the game you would know about the custom track editor.
