well you won't easily break your neck when your head gets bent like here if that's what you're suggesting. Your neck bends back pretty easily without snapping, it's really easier for your neck (and skull) to break when you crash with the top of your head first. So i'd rather break my nose and jaw then break my neck and skull, so heads up is really a good idea.
