I use masses of midis to get melody lines. I recently uploaded a movie about a superb website for anyone wanting midis of folk music. Programs I use with it are Midi2Wav to convert midi files into wavefiles for use with animations. I use Wavosaur to change wavs to mp3. I use Anvil Studio or an early version of Cakewalk to view midis and edit out the melody lines. Noteworthy is useful but does have restrictions - I'll upload a summary of those.
