  • Changing any action from an unconscious habit to a conscious decision will help you to control what you are doing. Many people lose weight quickly over the first couple of weeks because their metabolism is changing. Once it stabilises, the weight loss slows down, they lose heart and put it all back on again.   • The reason they ate less when they were blindfolded and couldn't see the food, is because they didn't have any outside distractions, and were aware of their INNER feelings and noticed they were full sooner. Studies show people eat much more when in a party group, laughing and talking and not being aware of the amount they eat.

  • The program works. I have been doing it since mid-March and have lost 23.4 lbs to date. The key is if you are not losing more .. to chew even slower... yep, when I first tried I died laughing picturing a cow chewing on some cud...

  • Is this the American version of the same program he made in the Uk. It was a great series and tried some of the stuff.

    He made 4 people eat a fry blindfold and less was eaten cause they could not see the food and have done the eat when hungry and lots of water.

  • I was skeptical as well. I tried it for one week - I weighed in 2 day in and had lost 5.5 lbs... I have exercised every day for the past week. I will weigh in tomorrow and see if I have progressed in 5 days... ;-)

  • Hi to all. I was eskeptical about this program...but to tell ya the true I have lost 2lb since I started it... I did everything He said and seens to work. I am not overweigth or anything but for the first time I am trying to learn how to eat. To everyone Keep it UP!!!!

  • Today is my fourth day doing McKenna's 4 Golden Rules. I've been dieting and binging since I was 13. I have come to realize that I never would have gotten fat if I had never dieted in the first place. I have tons of "forbidden food" in the house right now and I am not binging on it! I seem to be losing my obsession with food. I am learning to eat like a thin person finally.

  • Good luck! I discovered the show lastnight while flipping through the channels. I was intrigued since I had heard all this stuff before, just not explained so well. I started this morning and guess what I had a for breakfast? A cherry fritter! Three bites and I couldn't stand it anymore. I tasted the grease and even a burned flavor. Yuck! Lots of water and HALF a bowl of tomato bisque soup for lunch. Cool, huh?

  • Yes, I agree that I've heard almost all of his tips/rules before, but he really did present it well. He mentioned that about the taste of the food seeming different, so that's cool. In some respects I feel like I've been eating like a pig today, but my food choices have been good ones, and I've stopped when full - what a concept! :-)

  • i tryed chewing each bite of food 30 times before swallowing.

    i ate a lot less.

    unfortunately, i am back to swallowing my food whole.

  • I'm already finding that this is very time consuming! I think I'll probably lean toward leaving the fork down between bites for a few seconds/minutes more.

  • Nothing signals my stomach when I'm full. I'm glad it's coming on springtime... not here yet though, it snowed yesterday... or was it the day before. Have fun with the gardening!! I can't wait to start mine :O)

  • My hubby kind of feels that way also - or maybe it's partly because he likes the feeling of being full? I'm not sure. It will be interesting to see how he does with this.

  • I must purposefully fast to avoid abdominal spasms on a very regular basis.

    It keeps my weight down, but it is a very arcane way of treating this illness.

    Medications aren't working, I think it is my gallbladder but they can't find stones.

    Best of luck to you in your endeavor to get fit. It can be tough and it is easy to fall back into the 'comfort zone' I know this from experience.

  • Walk and talk videos are fun walking is really good for you i used to walk 5 miles a day(power walk) nad i was was in the best shape ever.Need to get back to doing that.Going to check out that link too.Good luck with your diet.:-)

  • It's always so agonizing to think about starting up something like that, but it seems that once you do, it seems like the totally right thing.
