Help! I had my bathroom granite installed a year ago. It had a slight scratch in the surface so the granite man came out and polished it out but it left a swirly haze. Also the granite wasn't sealing. He has been back 4 times already to repolish and reseal it. Yesterday he was here again to polish out that hazy look and reseal. The shine still does not look consistant and has hazy spots. He said it is just the granite. I put water on the surface and it is still getting dark. Help!
Thanks for the video! I did something really stupid to mess up my black granite countertop this morning. I was using "Easy OFF" Oven cleaner to clean my hood fan and then I place it on my granite counter top. After a while when I return, I realized that the chemical from the "Easy Off" probably hurt my counter top's sealer already. Even I wash it off immediately, but it still leave a hugh spot of mark on my black granite. Please help, what should I do with the white spot(surface)? Thanks!
We have a granite table and we put a sealer on it but when we had family over for dinner strawberry lemonade was spelled on the table and it left a stain... What can I do to get stain out???
Are these products for gives granite more color and shine? Please tell me what I can use for polishing the granite just installed.I'm doing it for myself my kitchen and the granite doesn't have shine and it needs more color. Please.
@ElCaballoDorado Ty cleaning your counter with windex or simple mild solution of soap and water. Then use a paste wax to give it a showroom shine. Just like a car. Or pledge can help but it won't last as long.
how do i know mine is granite or marble? it has a few big holes and many small ones filled with black stuff already, but not very shining as the one in your video. How do i know what I should do to make it as beautiful as yours. thanks.
Good video, Thank you for explaining the sealing step by step. You mentioned after wiping off sealant the surface may be a little hazy. I notice that the smooth glassy polished look is not quite as it was when the granite was new. Should I buff more with a clean terry cloth or perhaps use isopropal alcohol to remove some of the residual sealant?campbells2222@msn.com
@trish123able Perhaps some sealer was left to dry on the surface when it was sealed? Not sure. I would try to contact the fabricator to determine what sealer they used and reapply it.
Hello! I just subscribed! What is the name of the cleaner and the sealer that you're using? I'm having a hard time finding the video of the "first episode" where you said you mentioned the name of the cleaner. Are the products that you're using here toxic? Thanks in advance for answering my questions. Peace2U, Kim
@hojofan Kim, thanks for watching and subscribing! The cleaner and sealer can be purchased at mrstone.com . They are both VOC compliant and are not toxic.
Can you tell me what shall I do if i let my sealer dry out for a whole night without wiping it fully out. now my black granite shows the dry out strips.
@mikavulin It will require a bit of muscle, but what you normally do in such situation is reapply the same sealer and give it a few minutes to reabsorb the dried out stuff. Then wipe it off. Some of it may come off easier but most of the time you'll have to repeat the procedure. Hope this helps.
I have a granite counter about 2 years old. I recently tried cleaning around the faucet with an abrasive cleaner and removed the finish. How do I fix this? The rest of the counter still looks wonderful!
I just had granite installed. It had a gritty feel to it. The installer came back, used acetone and sealed it. It doesn't seem to be as shiny as the granite that they didn't reseal. What can I do to give it back it's super shine?
As far as I know, you are not suppose to put acetone on granite. I just used a damp rag to clean it up then wait for it to dry before sealing. To get a shine, you just need to take a dry cloth and wipe it across the stone. I am sure there are products out there that can assist in shining sealed granite. But once it is correctly sealed, it is virtually maintainece free from what I learned.
Acetone is used a lot on granite to clean it. Usually just in the fabrication shop. I don't recommend using it in the home. It should not affect the surface.
It depends on the type of stone that you have. Some stones do have a gritty feel to them. An inexpensive way to get rid of (some) of the grit feel and produce shine is to wipe the whole counter with steel wool. Doing this will leave little pieces of steel wool that need to be wiped off with a paper towel, but it should bring the counter up to it's original sheen.
Typically no because they should have been sealed by the fabricator. But as you could see in the video, it's a simple process and you cannot "overdo" it. So if you are in doubt, seal it anyway. It won't hurt the stone and will give you some peace of mind.
i have an unfinished new granite table, what type of sealer do I need to put on it, the store said car polish is that true.

@stoneadvisor Good advice! One thing about Pledge though, is that when over used, it can build up a silicone film on the surface.

and if you ever get a stain on your top,,
quickly find a blowtorch if handy and evaporate it
before it settles in for good.
but dont torch for too long for it will chip..
while torching you will notice moisture,
wipe and repeat..
then you know its time to seal..
