Thx! But i have another question for you. The Rolls Royce Ghost, Maserati Quattroporte and the new Jaguar XJ are also good looking sedans. Would you still take the Rapide over those? The reason why i asked you these questions is because i have never seen these cars in person. Thx again!
First of all the Quattroporte is just not attractive at all. The Gran Turismo is gorgeous buy the Quattroporte is just not nearly as good looking.
My neighbor has a Ghost and it is beautiful. However, it does not have the presence of the Phantom. At that point and at it's price, you may as well go and get the Phantom. However to me the new Mulsanne is better than them all.
The XJ is just gorgeous, Bentley level materials and stunning.
I am a car enthusiast! But i live on the island of St. Thomas, USVI., and don't get to see these top-of-the-line cars. I traveled to the mainland for the very first time, in January 2010, to attend the Detroit Auto Show along with a friend. It's was a great weekend experience for me! I enjoyed the show, but was a bit disappointed by the absence of Aston Martin, Lamborghini, Porsche and Alfa Romeo. I was eager to see the Rapide and the 8C. But i was able to see the Audi R8 V10 and....
...the Mercedes Benz SLS (gullwing) AMG. To my eyes i thought the R8 was much better looking than the SLS. The crowd just couldn't resist the R8 coupe and spyder! They both looked stunning. But i preferred the coupe because of the side blades and the fact that the engine is visible.
I just saw a short video of the Rapide in red by DomVanquish. It is gorgeous, and perhaps the best color i have seen. It really does seem to standout in this color. Check it out. Thx again!
@m5boarddotcom Really? I had seen on many reviews where they say the front seats are very comfortable and you can fit two average sized adults in the back, which is tight but good enough for short trips. But I've seen alot of 6 foot plus reviewers sit in the front and talk about how comfortable it is.
I love the way it looks outside and I do appreciate the fact that the interior is sporty and futuristic but that doesn't stop me from disliking the fact that it is not luxurious, elegant and classy. It is missing a third trim element, possibly wood. The boxy metallic interior door handles just make it seem so...Scion-esque. Anybody agree with me here?
You can get wood. It's an expensive car, and you can customize it any way you want. New pictures have just been released on NetCarShow, and you should check them out - I downloaded so many that the website blocked me for awhile :P
I do agree with your opinion based on the car in the video above. They should really give the metallic portions a machined aluminum texture.
@rollingstonedstudios LOL there are videos of Rapide's with wood veneers; personally though i think piano black lacquer would look amazing in this car
That car looks too long on the exterior from the side view! And yet it's not that spacious. I'd rather go for a Maserati Quattroporte GTS. It looks good and sounds better than the Rapide.
While i respect your opinion i don't agree with your assessment of the interior. The interior is, in fact, luxurious, elegant and classy! It is just not spacious.
This aint made for people like Yao but im sure if he liked they wud build it custom made specially for him, and he can afford that option so its never a problem
CAN THIS CAR BE CONFIGURATED TO HAVE A COMPLETE BACKSEAT? (like not two separate ones)..
ALSO.. Is it possible to configure it with a HARD-TOP. (thing that pops into my mind.. cause this one IS hard-top) and I always understood that the rapide has a glass-roof....
Please, someone who really knows, answer. Thanks, I'd appreciate it
@AsanMaeng like.. i know this one has a hard-top, but it's strange.. cause every single one i've seen on the internet (google images/here) has a panoramic sunroof...
Im sure itl have a nice thud when you try it...dont worry....on the plus itl come with ounces of more style and class than that entire German contingent put together.....
I actually prefer the original design of the interior centre console (where all the buttons are) from the 2006 concept model, this one looks like it was lifted from the DBS and has been added a few more desgin peices but overall it still looks excellent and i would definitely have one.
You have to remember the doors are made of aluminium, which is a more sound conductive material than high strength steel. Lighter doors mean that the sound of the power window mechanism can vibrate more when the door closes, thus the clunking noise. I wouldn't worry about anyone criticizing the car for noisy doors, because the only thing that can fit in the car to hear that noise is maybe a bag of crisps and a couple of Werther's Originals....
What a beautiful car!!! Like that it must have been back in 1968 as JAGUAR presented it's all new XJ, which was in fact a 4-door-coupé, from 1972 on with the only serial production 12-cylinder engine in the world, with just a little space in the rear as well. In recent year they wanted to build a Limousine out of it, what enabled first Mercedes to lance the CLS, then Porsche the Panamera and now Aston Martin best best of all: the Rapid. - How silly JAGUAR Managers where to give up this domain!
You censor the vid so we couldn't see the face of the guy on the backseat and yet it can be seen from the mirror at 2:50. Not like anyone cares or is interested but I wonder why bother if not to do it all the way ;)
Video of the interior is much better than seeing a few promotional photos.
Not seen the Rapide in the flesh yet but I've had it penciled in as the replacement for the M5 since the initial concept drawings years ago, either that or the Panamera but don't think the Panamera looks will ever grow on me. I'm hoping the replacement M5 will be tempting but at the moment the Rapide is probably next.
Ah shiiiiiiiit.

I saw one of these about 3 weeks ago at an Aston Martin dealership.
It is flat out gorgeous.
The back seats are a joke, strictly for putting 2 extra, drunk models, in the back for a trip back to your house or hotel...lol

Did you find that it looks too big on the outside?
tmat04 1 year ago
@tmat04
No, it is proportioned beautifuly.
I don't think Aston is capable of making an ugly car.
It is the complete opposite of that horrid pig the Panamera.
I thought that car would grow on me and it has not happened yet.

@eleganz its not like you couldn't choose wood instead of metallic or carbon-fibre elements. so, frankly, the whole post is pretty irrelevant.

No, it's just the two back seats, which took LOTS and LOTS of engineering to place. The backseats are the whole reason for the car.
I'm pretty sure panoramic glass roof is available as an option.
AsanMaeng 2 years ago
@AsanMaeng thanks,
although about the roof, my question is: is it possible to buy the rapide with a "hard-top", as in.. not with the panoramic roof??
just wondering.. how do you know the details on engineering and effort put into the making of the rear seat? just curious.
thanks man,

Yes it comes without the panoramic roof, that was shown in the original concept car.

It only comes with the two rear bucket seats. Mechanical gear runs through the middle space. I ordered one so I know.
