I post this as a Latin American. I will not comment on the rivalries which have ever existed between our countries. I would rather like to comment on the bond which unites us when we see an "enemy" which we've all had in common historically; that is the USA. As such, and even though this is sport, our ideological principles always made us feel for those in a conflict with the USA of any kind and whatever the case was, we supported them. It saddens me that sheer passion can go above that bond.

This game meant a lot for the U.S. Two reasons why this game was important for us. Charlie Davies accident and wanting to win this for him. Two, the fact that the U.S finish first put them in great position in the world cup draw.

@Morolongo - - There are over 200 countries in the world and only 32 make it into the World Cup. That's something to be proud of, even if you're eliminated in the first round.
If you're American, remember that the USA didn't qualify for 40 years. Hell, even Argentina had some trouble qualifying for South Africa. Unless you're the defending champion or the host country (who qualify automatically), it's NEVER a walk in the park . . .

I keep reading shit like this. Honduras deserved it way more Costa Rica. Example, CR got beat 3 games in a row (including on their own turf) without scoring a single goal. Honduras didn't go through such disgrace. Honduras scored more goals than CR. And if that's your complaint, that Honduras passes because of goal differential, then what do you expect? US MNT supporter here, but I'm secretly rooting for Honduras just because of how much their country needed this. Plus the fact that this i
