Yes the TTR-230 is a bit heavier but the 125 2 stroke has much more power espically in high RPM besides your comparing a cheaper trail bike to a race bike, and you ridden both you would know the difference.

@JuniorPros118 OK put a cr500 up against a crf450r. The crf450r gets way better lap time. 2-strokes have nowhere near the torque a 4 stroke puts out. Go back to school.

the 4t is easier bike to ride but it will weight more and cost more to keep up and you do have to do allot more preventative maintenance and if you do not have the ability to maintain the bike your self the $ will be much higher over time
lock up my yz144 and it needs new crank and piston and cylinder fixed $700
yz250f locks up and piston bangs the head and you need crank/piston/cylinder/head/$2000 if lucky in parts alone
@trimmyboi just remember this - the 2t 250 can be set up to have all most no power band hit and can perform with a very smooth torque curve with the right pipe setup and reeds
my 2000 CR250 is very smooth and has all most a flat power curve and will make you just as lazy as any 450 rider but i also love riding my YZ144 for the ring a ding pin it fun :-)

2 strokes are great when you need a lightweight engine and bike... otherwise, 4 strokes are used to give that extra boost of power in the larger engines.
You have to remember this is not american motocross. Scrubbing jumps has been a trend since the late 90's in the u.s. Those flat landings make my butt clinch and my wrists hurt just watching.

a 2 stroke doesn't have twice the power becuase is fires twice as often. Power is torque by speed. Your saying the torque is the same, but a 4 stroke has more torque. the 2 stroke fires twice as often so the speed in P = T x Rpm is higher, but the torque in P = T x Rpm is lower, so the 2 stroke doesn't actually produce twice the power.
a two stroke has a much narrower power band too, and lower volumetric efficiency so its not the same as a torquey 4 stroke producing low down power
A 4 stroke has pressure above the piston all the way down the power / combustion stroke. A 2 stroke has pressure only for the first half of the power stroke, because the piston travels past the exhaust port, allowing the pressure to escape. Here I found a dyno sheet. In the youtube search bar type in "kx 250 dyno". It shows a kx 250 dyno graph compared to a crf450 and crf250. Compare the kx 250 to the crf250.

always your front break dose 75% of your breaking (i think) so you can keep the gas on longer and you front break stops you in under half of the rear .. you have to get the chain to chatter to get the most out of the rear break .. and still its not anywhere as good as the front

check " Jimmy DeCotis 2 Stroke " or " James Stewart Yamaha 2-stroke" or " Ricky Carmichael back on his bike ", all pro's who still ride 2-stroke.
The riders didnt want four-stroke,James Stewart raced 2-stroke while most were already on four-stroke.
A 250F is a nice bike...but if its not higly tuned,its a " little girls bike " too.
Also check Trey Canard and Justin Barcia on there 125cc's,in training sessions pro's often ride there 2-stroke.

I've got a 2 stroke suzuki rm 125 2001 model, im pretty good on it (: I've always wanted to kno though what's so bad bout 4 strokes no-one has given a valid reason.

@trimmyboi there is nothing bad about a 4t there is a deference tho
the 4t is easier bike to ride but it will weight more and cost more to keep up and you do have to do allot more preventative maintenance and if you do not have the ability to maintain the bike your self the $ will be much higher over time
lock up my yz144 and it needs new crank and piston and cylinder fixed $700
yz250f locks up and piston bangs the head and you need crank/piston/cylinder/head/$2000 if lucky in parts alone

@trimmyboi just remember this - the 2t 250 can be set up to have all most no power band hit and can perform with a very smooth torque curve with the right pipe setup and reeds
my 2000 CR250 is very smooth and has all most a flat power curve and will make you just as lazy as any 450 rider but i also love riding my YZ144 for the ring a ding pin it fun :-)

@bradthornton123 i had an rm 250 and it was a wank of a yoke to handle tired after 3 to 4 laps absolutely strangle ya,traded for a 06 kxf 250 and its far better ten laps with ease no problem.

2 strokes are great when you need a lightweight engine and bike... otherwise, 4 strokes are used to give that extra boost of power in the larger engines.
I like both equally depending on situations.

damn right who needs a 4 stroke! i hear people say 2 strokes are shite and with 4 strokes the powers there for you straight away well yes true, on a 2stroke you do have to go through gears all the time but if you do it properly then you'll be able to piss on any thumper. get down into low gears round the corners , keep it lit and your sorted. and also 4 strokes sound like the shit out of my ass, 2 strokes sound sweeeet.

2 storke enggine give 2 time more power than 4 stroke,on 2 storke engline every time then is priston on Upper dead point the spark gone off,on 4 stroke every second time,there losses a power,if on 2 stroke 20 horse power on 4 stroke will get 10 horse power on same cilinder,2 stoke is esayer to tuning then 4 stroke,npr.2 storke engline of deplasment 49 ccm3 cant tuning to give 50 horse powe and to go on 16000 rpm,that is 220 km/h on 4 stoke 9000-10000 rpm and no more than 25-30 horse power 156 km

a 2 stroke doesn't have twice the power becuase is fires twice as often. Power is torque by speed. Your saying the torque is the same, but a 4 stroke has more torque. the 2 stroke fires twice as often so the speed in P = T x Rpm is higher, but the torque in P = T x Rpm is lower, so the 2 stroke doesn't actually produce twice the power.
a two stroke has a much narrower power band too, and lower volumetric efficiency so its not the same as a torquey 4 stroke producing low down power

A 4 stroke has pressure above the piston all the way down the power / combustion stroke. A 2 stroke has pressure only for the first half of the power stroke, because the piston travels past the exhaust port, allowing the pressure to escape. Thus, the 4 stroke power vs 2 stroke power is very similar to that of a diesel vs petrol:the petrol explodes only at the top of the stroke while the diesel continues to inject all the way down the stroke. Desiels have more torque than petrols for this reason

no... When talking motocross bikes, take a 250 two stroke, and a 250 four stroke. A 2 stroke will make around 33-36 peak torque, a 4 stroke will make around 20 peak torque. Go look up the dyno sheets my friend. Once again, 2 strokes make more horsepower and torque than 4 strokes.

Here I found a dyno sheet. In the youtube search bar type in "kx 250 dyno". It shows a kx 250 dyno graph compared to a crf450 and crf250. Compare the kx 250 to the crf250.

always your front break dose 75% of your breaking (i think) so you can keep the gas on longer and you front break stops you in under half of the rear .. you have to get the chain to chatter to get the most out of the rear break .. and still its not anywhere as good as the front
