Questo si che era VERO WRESTLING, guardate la maestria di Tiger Mask, assolutamente uno dei più grandi atleti di tale disciplina, quando il tutto era sport e non troppo spettacolarizzato.
dynamite always made it look like they were really throwing them with bad intentions. Probably why nobody realized he really was hurt when his back went out in mid match. small wonder his back eventually gave out though. did you see the backdrops he took.
Dynamite slapped his thigh at the perfect time when he did the enzuigiri, also when he delivered the knee-lift, he didn't really stiff it, Tiger Mask flipped at the perfect time to make it look like he did.
Good to see that these guy's crisp moves can still trick us almost 30 years later. :D
A match of this magnitude and this importance should be required viewing for every aspiring wrestler looking to break into the business. Just sit down, study the moves, asorb what Tiger and Kid are doing, take everything in, take some notes, and learn from what they're doing.
Pay attention kids. No pyro. No shitty music. No people running their mouth on the microphone. Just two great professional wrestlers putting on a great match. You can have your 'sports entertainment'.
Tiger Mask and Dynamite had phenomenal chemistry in the ring together. Look how crisp the moves are, look at the speed of these two guys, there's not a dull moment in this match. Even when they hit a resthold they draw the crowd into what they're doing. Wow, what a vicious kneedrop delivered by the Kid from off that second turnbuckle.
Wow this is an insanely fast paced match for its time! It's almost like a WCW Cruiserweight division match 10 years early! (strictly in terms of great wrestling, not in terms of storylines or stupid angles or any of that crap)
Of course we won;'t see wrestling like this in WWE. Matches are timed pretty short and most guys we have don't come from NJPW so you cant put on this style of wrestling without fighting it first. WWE is the modern day big man wrestling.
I had cable back in 1982 (when I was 12) and I remember seeing this match live on the MSG Channel. I didn't even know...at the time...who these two guys were (long before the British Bulldogs, and I had heard of Tiger Mask but never saw him) and all I could remember saying was "Wow" when the match was over. I've been looking for the card from MSG on WWE 24/7 with their "Old School" segments, and haven't found it yet. Best match I have seen in a long time.
This IS the match that Bret referred to in his book that left Vince Mcmahon completely blown away and supposedly considers this one of his favs even to this day.
You have to remember too that New York was not really familiar at all with this kind of wrestling with being used to Sammartino, Graham, Backlund etc. In many ways, The Dynamite Kid was a star overnight in New York after this match.
I hate wrestling today because guys don't sell moves like they used to. Everybody wants to be the star. Credit guys like Hogan, Flair, HHH, Shawn Michaels, Steve Austin, Goldberg for raping the pro wrestling business and it's history. Goldberg was the worst champion ever.
Legend my ass! Sting is a legend! Ric Flair is a legend, along with Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart, Stone Cold, The Rock, British Bulldog, Randy Savage, Mr. Perfect, Tiger Mask & Dynamite Kid.
Hogan was just the Barney the Dinosaur of wrestling, conning kids out of their money, and when they grew up and saw through his bullshit, he went on to play politics in WCW to hold back real talent like Booker T & Chris Jericho.
@williambbertram Bro, I'm wasted and just got home from a night club. Why the fuck are you replying to shit I posted a million years ago? I love you, take it easy. I hope I don't wake up because SHE has a boyfriend and I'm alone. I took a valium at 5 yesterday and had 2 shots of 151, a beer, 2 rum and cokes. My skin fucking sucks, so does my diet. If I wake up I'm going to buy some protein, get to 78kg of muscle and get a tan so I look like Yoshihiro Akiyama. Why am I listening to Death Cab???
@williambbertram FYI I'm logged into my other account but can't be fucked logging in to the one you replied to. Girls suck and I'm inconsistent as ice. Fuck. I liked her.
Pound for pound the greatest wrestler who ever lived, Bret Hart called him. Well, I bet some of the old-time "hookers" like Lou Thesz could have taken him, but Tommy Bilington was certainly the greatest wrestler of the "rock n' wrestling" era. Not that the competition was all that stiff... :-)
Looks like Tiger Mask originated the 619

@Pfresh168 Yes he did, the original name for the move is the Tiger Feint Kick.

The thing I hear all the time about these guys is that they are "ahead of their time." I disagree... I think we still haven't caught up to them yet.

I love how Dynamite is simply billed from "England" and Tiger Mask is simply billed from "Japan." Could Finkel have been a tad more specific?
In his book, Dynamite writes that Vince said to him afterwards that that was one of the greatest matches he's ever seen.

@FireProMMA Lol, I'd say Flair had a reputation for OVER selling. He was quite a ham.
