  • @legostarwarsjedi2 Sure, go ahead. :)

  • lol i was making the one from fist totorial but then i found the same thing in this vidio

but its gold . I swear to god that i made it exacly like your in this vidio but im haveing trouble please help me: cant get a bottom that fits to the bottom of the saber

and cant find a button that can go into the socket small button place and my bottom half is the handle its to short dunno where to fid a brass handle

  • what are those strips on the bottom of the hilt called on the darth vader hilt????

  • Dear Sir

    You Are Amazing!

Your Jedi Uniform video helped a lot!

    Thanks so much!

  • i suggest taking some pvc pipe, cut a cool pattern with a dremel tool, paint it black, then secure it over a chrome metal extension pipe, and it has a nice look.

  • AHHHHH, I luv this guy!!!!! definitely gonna try this!!

  • what size of pipe do need to use to make one or at least witch one do you use to make yours, I think i am thinking of making my own Lightsaber's some day.

  • Where can i find a D-ring and how can i attach one to a lightsaber?

  • You could make a lot of money selling these.

    If you don't already.

  • stupid question but..

what do you use to cut a 45 degree angle on the chrome extension pipe?

  • your videos is so awesome!

  • loving your vids mate. haha i need to get me to a plumbing shop

  • could you do some old reoublic lightsabers like darth bane

  • can you send me a list for the sink tube saber please? I've been dying to make my saber for weeks now but can't find the right tutorial or supply lists. im on a low budget here and am willing to go to $60 @ the most. please reply if you can.

  • I cant find the sink pop up tube at lowes and at home depot, it looks very different. where did u buy urs? also, do you recommend a wooden dowel or pvc for actual fighting?

  • Dude, that Vader is F****ing awesome!

  • very nice keep up the good work

  • How long was the pop-up sink drain assembly that you used?

P.S, by "how long," I mean how long in length. Like 10 inches or what?

  • The sink drain is about eight inches long, and after I glue the little knob thingie on the end, it's a little over nine inches long total.

  • What did you use for the butt cap on the Darth Vader light saber?

  • A metal sink drain plug, the flat one with the metal prongs all around the inside.

  • is there a way you could make a Darth Revan Hilt

  • dude, make about 10 assorted sabers, name them,

    line them up,

talk about each one for 15-30 seconds and post a contact.

you'll have a nice little side business started.

    good luck.

  • could you do a tutorial on how to make a lightsaber hilt similar to that used by Ahsoka Tano. I like her unique hilt, and would like to see it recreated by a professional like yourself.

  • Why do I find this video slightly erotic? so much 'working it on' and flanges :3

  • dude, love your vids, but i tried to find the materials to make that pop up sink drain lightsaber and it was super short, it was more like a Yoda saber than a regular length one, could you explain to me why this is, cause it looks a lot longer in the video

  • if you get a 1 and a halve inch metle tube then slide it over the bottm, hope it helps!

  • 1: This guy's a midget. or...2: You should buy a 12'' pipe.

  • i have made one myself and it is short but you can go to the to a hardware store and a 6" or 12" and cut it down to 8" and it will work just fine but the 6" is cheaper and its just as good

  • how did u find out how to build these? they look real even though theyre not! how do u make the light sabers with the handle on the side like maris brood has?

  • the lightsaber in 4:13 i would love to buy it

    ........

please tell me if you are willing too

    thanks

  • what are the regular diameters of your lightsabers?

  • plzz make a revan costume from kotor

  • what kind of black tube did u use for the handle???

  • you are a master what is the most costly one you have made

  • Most of them cost between ten and twenty dollars. The most expensive one is the double-ended Dooku-style saber, which cost, logically, twice as much.

  • can u make one similar to obi wans in ep 3

  • @lflank the double ended dooku it double ended darth maul

  • These r great videos

  • Just wanted to post my appreciation for your great tutorials.

I just ordered 2 light-up sabers from ultrasabers for $40 each and am looking into ways to customize them. They haven't come in the mail yet but they're made out of thin PVC. Looks like lots of room to add fun things to the hilt.

Anyway. I'm rambling. Thank you for inspiration. If I come up with anything good, I'll post a video response with a thanks. :)

  • What section at Lowe's is the sump pump tubing?

  • Same aisle as the rest of the plumbing pipes. It is up on a top shelf at the two by my house.

  • i finished my first lighsaber not too long ago and now im making another. thanks so much lflank

  • My first hardware saber was almost exactly like that I made. I left that screw on flange part on, covering the hole, I used vacuum tube painted black for the grip, cut off that side protrusion (i thought it was too bulbous, but I put an adjustment knob in it..) and used a pop up sprinkler as my pommel, which gave it some more length..

  • what i did was i took a 10'' by 1'' pvc pipe and painted it silver, then i took a pvc pipe cap and but end for the admiter end and the but cap, then used some electrical tape in sections for the grip and finally added some power dials.

  • could you please try and make ashoka's and nihlus's lightsaers

  • what did you do to make the lego block round

  • just wear it down with something like sand paper or glass paper or a sanding machine if you have one.

  • Good job, man. You're very creative.

  • I know your supposed to use gorilla glue but would you use super glue first like you say in your faq video.

  • What did you use to glue it?

  • See my "Lightsaber Tutorial FAQ" video.

  • thank you x 1000! ill go out tomarrow and buy this stuff and build it!

  • man, your lightsaber videos rock! I was planning on making a duel with effects in it, and this will be really useful.

    i subbed :)

  • lflank I made a great lightsaber for my boss the other day. It looked a bit like Mara Jade's saber but I painted it pink. When I gave it to her she was full of tears.

  • could u make a cont dooko <bad spelling

ive try so many thing but not working for me

  • dude thats really cool. my dads a total nerd ad i myself like starwars, now i know how to make a cool gift for him and all without tools that a 14 yearold is "too young to use" thanks you ROCK!!!!!!!!

  • your ideas are incredibly smart easy and inexpensive!

  • Um, what are those black strips called on the second pop-up sink drain lightsaber? The handle part of it.

  • Foam rubber weather stripping.

  • does your lightsaber realy work

  • awsome

  • I gotta say, I love your videos, but the metal pop-up drains do work a bit differently since the screw on thingy isn't as big on them as the plastic ones, so you'll have to find another stopper. I'll probably be posting my on that kind soon enough.

  • im english too but im guessing that you could get the stuff to make these things at B&Q or any local DIY store

  • You are freakin amazing, keep em comming please, btw im english so any advice? thanks mate i subscribed

  • same i'm English i don't now where to go

  • i know what gray plastic sink drain you're talking about. my bathroom sink has this kind of drain and when I looked at it, it didn't seem like something like this would look good as a lightsaber

    XD

  • what is the black tube called again?

  • It's 1 1/4 inch PVC pipe, painted black, cut off at a 45 degree angle.

  • i mean the vacuum-ish tube, the one that is for the handle part?

  • Oh. It's "sump pump tube". You can also use "bilge pump tube". Lowe's and Home Depot both have it.

You can also use vacuum cleaner tube.

  • how much should that be? cause i found one insanely expensive..it was like 32 dollars

  • Bilge pump tube is less than $2/foot at Lowe's.

  • could u make a vid n show all the ones u made

  • I'm working on it . . . .

  • this one looks cooler and easier to make!

    ur tutorial rocks!

  • What is the length and diameter of the pop-up sink drain?

  • It's 1 1/4 inch diameter. It's an eight-inch long pipe, and with the knob thingie glued on the end, it ends up being about 9.5 inches long.

  • awsome man

  • love the vader saber! its pretty cool!

  • i suggest putting in an old laser diod

  • what u put in it??

  • See my "Lightsaber Tutorial FAQ" video.

  • yeh pleeeeees my friends lightsaber that i made was going to be that but then i got some rubber o-rings added them in 3s and fell in luv

  • can u plez make anakin skywalker from episode 3s lightsaber??? ps pleez

  • this is what i did get a pitcure of the hilt get a friend and walk around home depot/lowes and find things that look like it and spray paint always helps

  • Iflank, who is your favorite star wars character?

  • Oh I dunno --- I guess it would be Yoda.

  • Great videos man! All the sabres looks really good. I wish I saw this when I was much younger haha.

  • thanx for the tutorials cuz me and my friends will be jedi/sith for halloween and we couldn't figure out how to make an awsome lightsaber prop for our costums. so thanx for the tutorial and can u see if u can make a tutorial for hilts with belt grips.

  • See my "A Couple More Lightsabers" tutorial for belt clips.

  • This is an awesome video! Thanks mr.Iflank

    (-.-)!!!!

  • i didnt get it how u make the saber in 3:34.?

  • It's the same as the first saber, except I left the attachment ring on, and used weather stripping for the grip instead of tubing.

  • wow cool. thank you so much sir.

  • Dear mr Iflank,

I am currently trying to make a star wars movie which will be released in the next few months, everything is goin swimmingly but i am having problems with lightsabers, do you think you could create a lightsaber for me and i could buy it off you, the other problem is im in the uk and i can tell by the accent ur american, even if i cant buy a prop from you, do you think you could create another movie. I like your work and i hope we can talk in the future.

  • I don't sell lightsabers -- I tried to make all the designs simple enough that anyone can make them.

  • ths looks like mace windu's lightsaber i have to tell me friend!

  • you are lightsaber jesus you should have like a tv show or something!!!

  • you are so awsome! where do you get your ideas?

  • how can i add a clip to my saber for the pop up sink so i can hang it from my belt

  • There are three ways to do it: use a clip from a cellphone carrier, use a D-ring or eyescrew, or use a paper clip.

I'm working on a video to cover all three.

  • Those are great ideas..can't wait for the video!!

  • i got the d-ring put on but do you have any suggestions for how to make a d-ring belt clip for on your belt?

  • you should make many more designs, i think you should have a tv show. i can get enough of you work..=D

  • sorry i meant to say i CAN'T get enough of your work

  • which would be cheaper. by the cheapest sink drain and buy chrome paint. or just buy a cheap metal sink drain like that one u have

  • I think the metal one would be cheaper. And it looks better by far. The painted ones aren't as shiny as the chrome ones, and you'll inevitably get runs and drips in the paint.

  • im going to try to make the second one on this video. What is the material you used for the strips?

  • Foam rubber weather stripping.

  • ok thank i couldnt really understand if it was leather or weather

  • and i did the thing with the lego block im gonna make the first saber u did and put that on. Did u paint the lego?

  • Yes, I painted it silver.

  • It's a pretty cool lightsaber for about $15.

I'm actually gonna start making my own lightsabers as well for me and a few of my friends. Plus, I know alot of people who would buy one, so, I could make some money off of this. Anyways, thanks for providing me with a few more tips.

  • Don't sell my designs commercially. I did them specifically so people could build their own. I don't sell them either.

  • Oh no, I'm doing custom designs that the customer would like. I dont like copying anything thats already done. I'm definitly not going to make any similar to the hilts from the movies.

  • where to put the battries

  • it's just a prop. It dosent take batteries unless you add a light bulb, or if you install a small speaker to project the sounds.

  • Brilliant.

  • He's the next George Lucas...

  • Dang, lflank. You're pretty good at this.

  • hi again

do you think you could make a lightsaber like count dooku's?

or maybe a darth maul lightsaber which can break into 2?

  • He has a video on that called " dual blade lightsaber prop construction"

  • awesome you own at making light sabers

  • dude...you are AWESOME! have u considered affiliating yourself with the sith? if u refuse...well.. all i can say is"the ends justifies the means" join me.lol. you're too awesome not to join me.

  • Grat job man I hope you continue making videos and I cant wait to make on of your sabers.Would some of those o-rings work on these sabers too?

  • Yep. The parts for all these sabers are pretty much interchangeable -- you can mix and match them all together in various ways until you come up with something that looks good.

  • hey could u send me a list of the parts u use for some of ur sabers like the ones in this vid plz, if its not to much to ask tht is.

  • is the energy that comes out of the lightsaber real? if it is then could you make a video on making the electronics for the inside of the lightsaber.

  • where did u get the popup sink drain because the only one i saw online was a 5 inch long one and i was thinking about 10 inches long

  • where did u get the popup sink drain because the only one i saw online was a 5 inch long one and i was thinking about 10 inches long

  • I got it in a Lowe's. It is, IIRC, eight inches, and when you glue the little screw-on knob thingie to the end, it makes the total length of the saber about 9.5 inches. Any hardware store should have it.

  • sweet deal thanks!

    ps. wats IIRC?

  • If I Recall Correctly.

  • o, duh. thanks!

  • It means "If I Remember Correctly" :)

  • Do you have any recommendations on what to use for the blade?

Meaning, is their anyway that I can attach something like a pole of some kind?

Also, nice tutorial for saber hilts.

  • For film props, I use 3/4 inch wooden dowels that I paint bright red. I wrap the bottom seven inches or so in foam rubber, then wrap that in duct tape until it fits snugly inside the handle. Not good for dueling, since the blade usually works itself loose after a while, but works just fine for filming.

If you want a lighted blade for dueling, the handle is completely hollow, so you can fit a polycarbonate blade with EL wire or diodes in there, along with batteries.

  • Well, actually, I was thinking of using them for duels, and editing the film later on...

  • Here's what I'd recommend:

Instead of using a magic marker cap or dowel for the power button, find a long wood-screw with a wide top that fills in the hole where the power button goes. Then place your wooden dowel blade inside the handle, and screw the power button/screw into it to hold it in.

Should survive all but the roughest dueling.

You can add the glow later by computer.

  • can you send me the list of all the names of the things i need to get being as i live in the UK please?

  • Just go to the plumbing aisle in any hardware store, and buy whatever looks like the things in the video.

    :)

  • I like your videos. Better than most on here. I like ur designs, they look gud. I think i am gona build one now, but i think il go for the traditional kind, with the saber grip up towards the emitter end and have the power switch near the butt end.

  • 5 stars, favourited LOVED IT!

  • these sabers look cooler than last videos if you have anymore ideads for sabers please make another video

  • I think they look beter too, but other people think they don't -- it's a matter of taste, I guess. But my next prject will be double-bladed Darth Maul lughtsabers.

  • nice

  • these are really good i like them alot im going to try to make one and put it in my next vid thanks

  • Yep. Lowe's has it, Home Depot has it, Ace Hardware has it -- pretty much any hardware shop should have it.

  • would PVC pipe fit into it? plz respound as soon as u get this comment.BTW love ur work! can't get enough of it!

  • please respond this comment... would the drain pipe be in the plumbing ile
