  • @elbagy the name of intro is ( khalloni)

  • Okay people, I've been educated as to the origins of this wonderful music a dozen times over in responses to my original comment. This music comes from North Africa, not anywhere in the Middle East. You've all helped me understand the music much more than I thought I would. All of these passionate responses endorse my belief that understanding the music of a people means coming closer to understanding the people. I would ask that you all please stop responding to my original post.

  • No it's a Tunisian song and the singer is Salah Farzit, he just talked about it a few days ago in a Tunisian show and said that he used to live in Paris and knows Cheb Khaled and he asked him if it's ok with him and he said no problem. Salah Farzit wrote the lyrics and the music of the song.

  • @generosityt "Yal Menfi" is a cover Arabic dialect of an old song of exile Kabyle composed immediately after the insurrection of 1871

  • @generosityt and the verdict without appeal: the deportation of Algerians to New Caledonia for most leaders. "Yal Menfi" (exile) evokes the suffering endured by the Algerian immigrants of all ages

  • @generosityt .it is Composed and their memories in jail by Akli Yahiatene 1961 /watch?v=DVKBelWpbzQ

  • I'm nuts about Algerian rai! Faudel I love you!!!!

  • TI AMO FAUDEL...!!!!!!!!

  • RACHID TAHAA ,KALED,et CHEB SARKO

  • I have to buy the original DVD of the concert..this is just the best concert I have ever seen...wish they do it again..I will be there.....

  • Awesome.

There's a great Minnesota band called Boiled In Lead that recorded this tune.

Truly a shame that some of my fellow Americans think of the Mid East as images of deserts, turbans, mosques and terrorism.

It has such historical and cultural uniqueness, as widely varied and wonderful as any other region. Personally, being able to understand the music of a place would mean being able to understand the people, and that's what we really need in our relations with Middle Eastern countries.

  • i m sorry buddy but i gotta tell u that algerians r not mideasterns,so ,u remember me the times when i m teling peoplr that we r africans , they got like,what the.....................,that s impossible,

yeah that s true that the americans r not too much cultivated but ,still, there r a lot of them who r pretty nice and respectfull for all people, thank u

    sallllllllllllllllllaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaammmmmmmmmmmm

  • You'll have to excuse the American ignorance! I read "arabic" in the description box and instantly assumed middle-eastern. "Algerian" didn't even cross my mind.

  • so i must tell you then, that this band s algerian nd not mid-eastern ,if that interst u of course ,faudel ,khaled nd rachid taha nd algerians living between france nd algeria,i mean sometimes in algeria nd the other time in france ,nd about the what u said the american ignorance ,i said not all of em,nd they r free if they don t want to know about the externell world, but ,still,we all know that s better to have an idea about the others, cause we r humains.

  • @foureyes99 indeed 100%

  • @foureyes99 thanks for your comment. i understand where you're coming from and what you're saying exactly. The only thing I want to clarify is that these artists are from North Africa and not the Middle East.

  • @foureyes99 you are right we should build bridges between the two sides.Btw the band members i gues they are from the former US band B52 where Zachary Alfors plyes drums for very long time, im a big fun of him i love his style of drumming and hhe seemed to reaaly enjoy playing arabic grooves.

  • @foureyes99 this MUSIC is from the maghreb not the middle east ... north africa ... more specifically ALGERIA

  • @foureyes99 Hello dear. If there's someone to blame it's not Americans but the American media who don't make enough effort to let Americans know about the rest of the world.. This music is Rai a music whose melodies are rooted in the ancient North African melodies but that are mixed with current instruments that make the music sound more upbeat.. from a Moroccan-American

    ((Moroccan-American)) Morocco are the impostor

this music is the genius of the Algerian artist

  • @foureyes99 i reckon u are confused!Algeria aint in the middle east, you better get ur self a map lol

  • @foureyes99

the three are from Algeria which has nothing to do with middle east . its in north Africa .

the Music is called Rai , originate in Oran Algeria

  • @foureyes99 this is north african music ,nothing to do with middle east

  • @foureyes99 deserts are part of our identity as Arabs, mosques are "the holy homes of god" (bad translation i know) and they are part of our identity as Muslims, mosques are like churches for you. Terrorism however, has nothing to do with us, although your media have been faking the image about us, and that's why I do not blame your fellow Americans for what they think about us, they judged only what they saw.

thanks for this comment, it's always good to hear such opinions.

  • @foureyes99 by the way , Tunisia,Algeria and Morocco are in North Africa not the Middle East.

  • @foureyes99 i guess the band members in this concert are americans partly from the name B52,Gail anne dorsey on bass, zachary Alfords on drums!

  • @foureyes99 i guess the band members in this concert are americans partly from the name B52,Gail anne dorsey on bass, zachary Alfords on drums!

you guys out there need to spread out that message !

  • @Algerino307

Dead to all American pigs !

  • @foureyes99

I like your comment!! I think too, we all need to understand each others and music can keep our hearts in touch!!

  • @foureyes99 what s wrong with mosques ?

  • @foureyes99 you are right about almost everything, exept that Algeria is North African country not Mid Eastern :)

  • thanks...merci....gracias...i love this kind of arabic music...

  • Rai'nb Fever was in 2004 ;)

  • i'm sorry, al- menfi means : a banner (someone who is exiled, not refugee, it's not the same). in french it means : un banni ou un éxilé

  • i love this...but when and where was the concert...i have it in CD in my car.....great

  • During the colonisation of Algeria the french

deported Algerians rebells to their others colonies far away where they were detained .

  • Not rebels boy, they were freedom fighters!

  • taha the best

  • qué buen comienzo, ojalá hubiera estado ahí yoooooo.......

  • Peace and Freedom to everyone of us. let us trying to be without prejedice when we meet. May God/Allah help us.

  • i love this song

  • La crème de la crème.

  • very nice music, with the violins and all that.

  • God I love this song. It's a very sad song about political prisoners and an equivalent in western music would be blues I guess. The man in the song tells his friends about his imprisonment, injustice. He also says "Gullu l'ommi ma'tebgish / Weldek Rabbi ma'ykhelih'sh" " which means "Tell my mother not to cry, God is with your son".

  • hey deepfreeze can you put the video of didi?

  • very good sure

  • It is simply breathtakeing...Saluts from Romania

  • good

  • None of them beat Khaled, when it comes to vocals. HE IS THE BEST!!!!

I am not Algerian, or even Arab.... but I love him still. His voice is just purely majestic, while still masculine.

  • Whah? One of these three IS Khaled! He used to go by the name Cheb Khalid before the French Record Produces got him to change his name. Many male Algerian Rai singers use "Cheb" in front of their name.

Anyway, Cheb Khaled is incredible, but open your mind intisarahmed, there are incredible Rai artists out there, many of whom with Khaled performs. Still Cheb Khaled is known as the King of Rai.

  • Cheb means YOUNG, it is why he changed it to just KHALED,

just thought you might of wanted to know?

  • Thanx for being considerate...i understand that there are many of Rai artists..but even then there is a reason why they say he is the KING of Rai because he is the best at it. I am sorry to fans of Faudel and Rachid, but all I am saying is Kahled's Vocals are Wayyyyyyyy better than both Faudel and Rachid.

But i know they are all better than me at vocal's but then again that is why i am not an artist...:)But I will try be more open-Minded!

  • I agree! Cheb Khaled is the King of Rai! All hail Khaled, his voice flows with peace, love, unity and truth!

From his lungs flow the power of love that will rise and embrace all in peace. The Muslim, the Hebrew, the Protestant, the Catholic, the Hindi will all join hands in brotherhood!

All hail to Cheb Khaled the King of Rai, the magnificent benefactor of love, truth and unity!

  • Excellent

  • Khalliouni is a song from Dahmane El Harrachi isn't it?

  • khalliouni ( the intro) very very strong !!!

  • BAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA this video cracks me up!!

  • This is the best instrumental intro of a song :) Or a cd, I have to say
