2 weeks till Toronto show and the next night in St.Catherines.......i cant wait... Mark is the greatest songwriter ever.....thanks for posting.....i hope i will have some footage to post also
The guy should be headlining, with the crowd sat together in the dark , ears open and mouths closed. There is something to be said about not being appreciated in your own time, though. At least he won't be reduced to a ringtone.
Even the best of musicians can be ignored under the worst conditions (like this,) Just be thankful somebody got a video of it so the people who care can enjoy it. That's what it's all about these days.
Being a "working" musician is such a unforgiving, exhausting trudge through the bulls*#t. This man is a musical juggernaut. He has just created a stone cold MASTERPIECE (AFP). No one cares. Harsh, dark world. Is there one critic who can get behind this guy? I owned & operated a record store for 10yrs (when they existed) I have listened to everything you could imagine (many times over) This man's music is golden purity, it is "the reason" amongst a universe of gibberish. Thank you.
@TrapSoulDoor Nice posting. There's a similar posting on YT of Michael Gira being ignored somewhere in Italy. It's hard not to feel misanthropic sometimes. But at least he looks as though he's happy just to play the music. And what music!
@TrapSoulDoor No, TrapSoulDoor, thank YOU! Admiral Fell Promises was an album that really opened my eyes. For the first time since God knows when, I finally found an artist who takes music as a serious, sophisticated art form, at least as much as Mark Kozelek does.
Wow, Mark Kozelek gets talked over. One of the best songwriters in the US and he gets talked over! It would never happen in Europe. He should headline End of the Road festival in the UK and have a whole field of thousands of people in silent admiration.
@stevenstanley This actually is in Europe.. And I believe the level of the noice (chatting and such) gives a wrong impression of how it actually was to be there.
But sadly, I agree that this is not the best setting for his music. This festival is absolutely great, but there are so many concerts at the same time, and so many people, that this kind of quiet comtemplative music kind of drowns.
Dean Phillips from the Chelsea in the Marina S.F.. I'm glad you've followed your heart all these years. Hope we can catch up someday...I'm in West Palm Beach, FL these days.
This is amazing, thanks for uploading it. I agree with the comment below about the crowd, why anyone would talk over something as good as this is beyond me!
Yeah, I call this situation "Nick Drake experience" - singing those fragile heartfelt songs in the midst of all the mindless fuss. It tends to happen to most of quiet music players and I admire those who can still be true to their inner sound. Some passages in the lyrics actually seem to refer to those boring and drunk guys and girls. Great song.
Yay! New Sun Kil Moon album "Amongst The Leaves" out on 29th of May! Been waiting sooooo long.... it feels like, anyway.

I don't understand... what are you people judging this audiences mood on?
just because they aren't standing face foward in solemn silence doesn't mean they don't enjoy his music..

All of his songs make me want to have a beer in one hand and a smoke in the other sitting on some porch somewhere, staring into a sunset.
