this is a swipe at the people who risk their lives for America. If they had said I have problems with that Black Student he makes me nervous then The Progressives would be All OVER THIS. This Sucks.
WTF is this bullshit. This is why I transferred out of penn state. Its nothing but a glorified community college. I can't believe that made a video about "the dangerous vet". It makes sense. After all a lot of school shootings are done by vets. A wait they aren't any. Typical liberal bullshit. They rag on vets and give obama a peace prize. Meanwhile he he still has the war in Iraq and Afghanistan and now Libya. No wonder this country is fucked up.
I do agree that if anyone else was targeted, there would be catastrophic events that followed. However, most don't know that PSU is one of the most military friendly universities in our country. Although I don't agree with the targeting, they were very smart in their choice, causing the least commotion.
@Moolz86 "causing the least commotion"? What are you joking? Why didn't they just put on a generic trouble white kid. That would have be less "commotion" Instead they had to make the troubled white kid a vet. Its dumb people like you that voted to "hope" and "change".
@Moolz86 Sweetie pie? You must be a bisexual liberal. Yeah your right I couldn't "hack it" I guess that's why I only got a 3.8 GPA. I guess that's why I transferred to U Penn, because U Penn is a easier school. I guess that's why I made it to my third year at law school and I'm in the top 10% of my class. Your assumptions seem dead on to me. The first thing I learned when prepping for the LSAT is not to assume things. I guess that's why you fell for obama's lies. You assumed.
Why did the student in the video have to be a Veteran in the first place? If you're facing an emotional problem like PTSD or depression or anything else you probably wouldnt even have the desire to be in class much less do a paper two times. All this video did was make it look like all Veterans are emotionally unstable and only in college because the government pays for it.
THIS IS BLASPHEMY!! How could they portray the people that are willing to stand in between us and bullets like that? I am sure there are non-veteran people that do shit like this all the time. This is completely insulting. If anyone in your family ever served their country you have to be outraged by this.
ok its official I did not go to war for Pennsylvania. im glad i live somewhere where im not considered a second-class citizen for risking my life for all the people that are so much better than me it would seem. to the ungrateful students and faculty of Penn State : youre welcome you assholes
This is bullcrap, as a veteran would have already gone through boot camp and would know how to show respect to authority as well as take responsibility for ones own actions. This clip from PSU shows more about how liberals feel about conservatives in general than anything else.
What a joke. I'm a veteran and I get very good grades. Most vets have a lot of experience with writing because of all the counselings, not to mention there's a huge push (in the Army at least) for people to take college classes while still in the service. Is this based on some inaccurate stereotype of veterans as being ignorant and backwoods? Where's the video on the 18 year old students fresh out of high school who write papers in text speak and emoticons?? Lame and horribly offensive.
I work as a graduate teaching assistant at San Diego State University. I grade papers and interact with students in small class settings. I am also a student veteran and have to say that aggressive confrontations over grades are not limited to veterans. Anyone who has served knows you need to have thick skin and be able to take criticism in all branches of service(think of basic training!). I think this scenario is actually much more common among nonveteran students!
Wow. These people have killed, been killed, and seen things that no human beings should see, and you people are bitching about their "confrontational attitude?" Get off your high horse, Penn State.
What was the purpose of this clip? To demean and in-humanize veterans that served and protect our country? If so, then great job Penn State, give yourselves a pat on the back.
not feeling so proud of Penn State right now. I'm a veteran and I work very hard for the grades that I EARN. One semester left until I graduate and then i'm off to UC Berkeley for grad school. Maybe they should make a video about that?
WTF Penn State.. this is sad to say that I go here and I am in Army ROTC there. WOW. do not like this at all. Our veterans do wonderful things for our country. NOT easy to deal with.. grow some balls lady, we will see how your ass if when you get back from overseas.
WHAT THE FUCK? how can people negatively sterotype veterans? they do amazing shit for this country and they should be respected. not insulted and judged
Hey, not all liberals hate the military. As a liberal, feminist, women's studies major who teaches at a major university, I too find this offensive and ridiculous, as many of my friends and family in the military have no such issues. In fact, I was sent this video by a student because he was so surprised that I was nothing like the idiots here. Be careful that when fighting against the perpetuation of a stereotype, you don't make some yourself.
As an Army veteran of Operation Desert Storm, I feel extremely insulted by this video. As Veteran's Day approaches, one would think that these very same people would not have the rights and cushy life that they do if not for those who serve, past, present and future to keep us safe.
BTW, I have a college degree and I know many other veterans/current military who do as well. Penn State University owes our military and all veterans a huge apology.
Wow. I think Penn State owes an appology to the US Military for this one. This is absurd. If they wanted to exemplify poor student behavior, this could have been any student. Why target veterans? They should know better than to utilize any group as an example. This is beyond comprehension from a University that is trying to set itself as an alternate to the Ivy League. Screw Penn State.
I'm speechless. I think Penn State is run by Communists. Why do they portray veterans as idiots who have anger issues? That guy isn't very convincing and seems toolish. I'm a veteran and haven't had any of the problems this clip portrays.
Oh, and how about those Penn State students who threw beer bottles and cans at a guy wearing an Ohio State jersey a couple of years ago. Those guys were not Veterans.
Sad, very sad. Why target anyone? I'm sure racists would have thought is was OK to make a film like that back in the 50s but target black men. Why not just make it about a student who is unhinged? No need to target anyone. Or do they think just Veterans can exhibit behavior like that? Fact is, a Veteran has been trained to keep cool under pressure. The video would've been just as effective leaving at a student who is acting aggressive and unhinged. Shame on Penn State.
I am an Afghanistan Veteran, recently having returned from a tour there. After getting back, I was diagnosed with PTSD and started up graduate school. I have been having some problems "learning material" (not all the brain cells that used to be there are still there). Luckily though, attending a military school, the instructors are more sympathetic to my situation. However, I don't know if I can say my compatriots who attend civilian institutions have been treated with the same compassion...
I'm not sure if I want to rate this with 1 star, for pissing me off, or with 5 stars for being an excellent example of how the left smears our armed forces with lies

Also, a conversation like that could happen between any student and teacher, whether the student is a veteran or not. Again, the problem is the teacher used the classroom to vent her opinion on "the war," which would apparently be opposed to it. It's very possible that such a strong opinion would influence a teacher's behavior toward a student who is a veteran. I see the problem on the teacher's side, not the student. Perhaps this was meant to start such a conversation, not insult veterans.

First, the video is being taken out of context and judged out of context. Everyone flying off the handle is not taking the time to think about it and understand the full picture. Second, what this video shows is something that happens - teachers inappropriately mentioning things like their position on "the war" when it has nothing to do with the subject. When a teacher uses their position to give opinion, you'll get confrontational relationships, especially with students who are veterans.

The government denied agent orange affects. Stopped to c infantry vet, 3 of his children dragged their legs and used their arms to move. They couldn't walk. I cried. This fable comes to my mind when I think about this kind of video:
So in the Libyan fable it is told That once an eagle, stricken with a dart, Said, when he saw the fashion of the shaft, 'With our own feathers, not by others' hands, Are we now smitten.'
I think what we are witnessing here is the full-flowering of a rationalization dating from at least the Vietnam war era. In a society where some had to serve and others did not, it must be difficult for many who did not to justify the big, free ride they have taken at the expense of those who did serve. Hence, the myth that those who serve are merely Neanderthalers, knuckle-dragging thugs, who don't know any better, and can't do any better. What a shame.
I like the way they stereotype all "veterans" as unstable angry white males. No bias there.
Watch the video in the related section called "PSU Student Affairs Vet Video". It has a discussion group after this film that will sadden you even further.
One commenter, who has seen all the films in this series, reports that all the bad student behavior is committed by white males.
As amatter a fact, I am in an opposite situation right now, and I think I'm going to go ahead and film 'The Worrisome Professor' based upon it. I've been treated as some representation of imperialism because of my white skin and male genitals throughout the semester, and I currently in talk with administration, to put the spot light on it. THE EXACT OPPOSITE. If this kind of behavior does exist you need to dissociate it with veteran.
TO THE PERSON WHO MADE THIS VIDEO: have you lost your fucking mind?! I am a veteran among many at Columbia University, THIS is the opposite of any real veteran, and certainly any marine corps veteran. We are almost Confucian with are standards of respect for those with credentials, and furthermore, if we did exercise our courage to stand up for something, we would be both justified and admired for doing so.
If the LGBT, womens, African-American, Latino or Asian-American community had been targeted like this, there would be campus demonstrations, a faculty vote of no confidence, and the ACLU wouild be down at the Federal courthouse getting an injunction. This smacks of the worst stereotyping that we saw after the Vietnam War.
Penn State needs to consider the negative impact this will have on public perceptions of returning veterans, and impact this will have on veterans considering attending Penn State. If more faculty members and administrators were veterans, there would be no need for this kind of hare-brained attempt to "train" faculty members how to deal with perceived veteran's issues.
As a potential graduate student and former student of UW-Madison (and a College Republican), this behavior by the Penn State Student Affairs Office is disappointing. Painting veterans as crazed uneducated wackjobs is just wrong. Most veterans have strong academic backgrounds and want the same education as anyone else, and they usually do better than the general student population on academics.
...This is horrible. As a future teacher and a PSU student....I am disappointed whoever created this video at PSU. This is not acceptable at all. The administration owes a big apology to veterans.
Is this for real? I can hardly believe that Penn State folks would be so clueless, although I suppose I should be more realistic. THere are so many stereotypes in the vid it's hard to know where to start. Bad job guys!

There is a difference between someone being black or white and someone being a veteran or a civilian. Race is an inherited trait, and military service is a life experience. I understand the point, but comparing skin color to veterans is comparing apples to oranges.
Sounds like the same bs I had to deal with when I went back to college. As a disabled vet I was called a war mongering welfare leach by an instructor in class one day. I still graduated displite the anti-veteran perspectives of many of the instructors. It was amazing how well vets do in some classes vs other classes.
That's the advantage of clown college. At least they are admittedly teaching farce. What we have here is farce without redemptive self-awareness. I wonder what a course entitled Tensor and Vector Analysis from an Anti-war Perspective would be like. No more absurd than English Composition from an Anti-War Perspective. Akin to the grafting of a "pederast to an Anglican bishop" (from Monty Python).
Never forget the three innocent "white males" that were very nearly framed (with the assistance of Duke University Administration and members of the faculty) for a rape that never happened.
Well, I was going to apply to Penn State this fall - maybe not now, though. The idea of that condescending b.s. being presented as some sort of "advisory" is completely absurd.
This is another example of propaganda in our schools. From grade school all the way to college our youth are being brainwashed with socialist doctrine and taught REWRITTEN history. sad state of affairs
I THINK IT IS TIME THAT WHITE MALES GET CIVIL RIGHTS - WHITE MAILES SHOULD SUE PENN STATE FOR BIGOTRY AND RACISM.
I know bright, conservative students who repeatedly state they are picked on by teachers and that their grades suffer, as they have an opposite viewpont from the teacher. They are the opposite of the ACTOR in the depiction - they are courteous, use excellent grammar and would never threaten any teacher.
The Nazifacation of America has begun(Obamafacation?) . Are white conservatives to be watched then rounded up and placed into camps by the American KGB ( DHS)?
This certainly reminds me of my college years, females and minorities working in unison to marginalize and demonize white males; so as to justify hogging up all the financial aid and scholarship money for themselves. I carried a 3.77 GPA in college and made the Dean's List every quarter and couldn't get a scholarship to save my life because they all had race of gender based restrictions that cut out white males, even dirt poor ones like I was at the time.
You can see how dangerous the right-wing are by watching the videos about the Tea Parties. Overturned cars, broken windows, fires.....Oh, never mind, that was the G20 left-wing demonstrators.
When I got out of the service and attended College I noticed a big difference in the way socialistic professors treated me and my grades suffered as a result. The weapons of choice are essays and papers because a great amount of latitude is giving to the professor in the grading process so if they don't like you then you will notice it and it looks like what is going on in this video.
We are frequently advised that what is needed in this country is a national dialogue about ___ [fill in the blank as you will]. Unfortunately the "dialogue" is "eat this spinach and like it" or "don't let the sun go down on you, veteran" or material suitable only for seedy bus station restroom walls is offered up as if it has value elsewhere. That we have a life, we probably owe to some anonymous veteran. Our way of life, we certainly owe to them. Show some gratitude, some sense of history.
Why are her views on the war brought up in her english class? Unfortunately, that is the most realistic part of this video - and that is the big problem in our schools that needs to be fixed. This video did a great job of revealing the problem because those that made the video are so oblivious to that being wrong that they blindly included it in their story.
What a bunch of BS. No conservative could ever write a paper to please this knothead teacher. The soft spoken , all caring, what can I do to help , I just want to indoctrinate you attitude of this women makes me ill. And of coarse the black man has the answers to all the worlds problems, which are certainly resulting from uneducated , poor white veterans. It is just a shame that the USA has come to this. I can't believe that this is the type of teachers that our tax dollars are funding.
Clever how they paint veterans not only as psychotic but ignorant withthe repeated claim of bad grammar. Apparently anyone who is stupid enough to be in the military is probably stupid in all other ways as well.
The teacher is never shown (by the video) sitting down and working with him to show him how she wanted the work done. Isn't it her job to be teaching this? "I'm not doing anything, Matthew" That IS the problem in a nutshell, Not every student can regurgitate back what the teacher wants, whether it be misunderstanding or learning disability. She should have been much more proactive in helping him address the problems she kept dinging him for. Find his problem, help him see how to solve it!
PSU is a state-supported, land-grant college. Of all places, those receiving much of their support from taxpayers should not become venues for political indoctrination amounting to no more than a religion. Land-grant colleges are by definition supposed to be affordable by the average family. In-state costs at PSU run about $25,000 per annum (affordable?). No veteran should pay $100K to be subjected to four years of this smug, ignorant, condescension, and overt discrimination.
PTSD is an anxiety disorder caused by a traumatic events rape, physical abuse, as well as combat. Some people posting and institutions like PSU depict veterans as manipulative and violent. PSU implied that veterans should be closely watched by making their abusive student a vet! I cant recall the number of college students that asked me to change their grades, but I do know that not one veteran every asked. Shame on PSU!
I'm a Penn State student, and this is bullshit. Absolute bullshit, I'm sorry this actually goes on and it isn't a good representation of the Penn State student body.
well, at least in this video the teacher admits her anti-war/anti-military bias.
i'm sure vets, and conservative students, in universities across the U.S. receive grades based on their service and personal beliefs and not their work products.
I am a military veteran and have also taught at the university level and PSUs video is offensive and disturbing. It is offensive to characteriz veterans as being aggressive, confrontational, and abusive. Dont get me wrong, some veterans are aggressive, but I can attest that this behavior is universally proportioned among college students today. Veterans with PTSD need counseling, as do other students that act inappropriately or display psychiatric disabilities at the university.
You mean all Vets aren't crazy? The Department of Homeland Security said I should be very afraid of vets, right-wingers, etc. I believe everything my government tells me
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Typical. I've also read the DHS report. Missed the part where they said ALL vets and right-wingers are suspect. Some are. Timothy McVeigh believed in small gov't, very much so. He vol'd for the GOP. You'd better hope the next nutjob with a gun isn't a Hannitized Dittohead, or Neocon credibilty is GONE.
No, you are typical. Go back and learn history Cornstar. Timothy McVeigh was a COMMUNIST which if you know anything, is anything but for small government. He even threatened to kill an officer while he was in the military because the officer was CONSERVATIVE. He is one of your boys but you are too ignorant or can't be bothered with obtaining facts, and instead, you make assumptions that show how lazy and ignorant you really are. He did NOT volunteer for the GOP, look it up!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
McVeigh was a Militiaman. Being Commie in a militia will get you killed. Look at facts you get somewhere other than right-wing blogs and El Rushbo, and stop revising history to make yourself feel better. Stop ignoring history, too. Vets eff up like everybody else, and are not above reproach.
Being conservative does NOT give you moral authority.
I'm not sure what this video was about to begin with. I kept expecting some kind of message to come about how to deal with difficult situations or something like that but I'm not sure what they were going for here.
The mentioning that he was a veteran was pointless in my opinion. There are plenty of average joes that are quite aggressive. They should have had the teacher just refer to him as a somewhat aggressive or confrontational student.
Watch this video; PSU Student Affairs Vets Video (check related vids) It has a discussion after the video that I believe is more telling as to the bias and comtempt the PSU staff have for white males. One commenter, who reports to have seen the other videos of this series, says that all the bad students are white males.
That would be a common dogma on any college campus in America. In reality what they really mean are working class white males, wealthy democratic metrosexual leftists are welcome on any campus. If dad drives a 34,000,000,000.00 car and plasters it with Obama bumper stickers junior is going to feel very welcome. If dad lost a leg in Vietnam and drives a used shitbox junior is going to be targeted as a fascist right wing criminal far more evil than Hitler.

Apparently no veteran has ever done anything even remotely bad after serving. (Oops, Timothy McVey, oops)
Glad you're all canonizing vets, they're all far above PTSD or other mental problems, those things don't even exist, I guess. Typical Hannitized Dittoheads. Pro-life, except for war. Fiercely patriotic, until the bill comes... "Don't tax me, take away 'entitlements' for the VA!"
Authoritarians with no authority, flip-floppers all. More Neotard backwash from the far right.
What you don't get, besides everything, is the implication only towards military trained people. Who, by the way, are hired far and above into civilian corporate positions of responsibility than public school educated whiners and excuse makers.

I didn't see the part of the video where they said all vets are dangerous. I can absolutely attest: some are. WE do not walk on water. Vets are humans, and some humans are dangerous. Get your news from somewhere other than Faux Nooze, Skippy, you'd be surprised at how enlightening actual reality is. Get over yourself.
Should I hold it against all Koreans that Seung-Hui Cho killed all those kids at Virginia Tech? Based on your reasoning, I should. Not all vets suffer from PTSD, and the overwhelming majority of vets suffering from PTSD don't harm anyone, and that is a fact. Cornstar5, everytime you post you prove your stupidity and demonstrate that you have the very same characteristics that you supposedly imply you are against.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Should you ignore a vet's PROBLEMS? Would you rather just push him through if he doesn't deserve it? Just because he served? You're throwing the baby out with the bathwater, just so you don't have to admit there's a problem. PTSD is real, and dangerous, and THAT is a fact. Get over yourself. PSU NEVER said ALL vets are dangerous, you neocons are projecting your persecution complex... AGAIN.
Nobody said that a veteran's problems should be ignored you idiot, and the typical veteran that goes through college is usually more experienced and mature and doesn't ever expect to be "pushed through." I actually spoke to the people at Penn State and discussed this at length. Strange how even they indicate that the video is offensive and unfairly stereotypes veterans, but you want to cling to some sort of notion that there is nothing wrong with the video. Grow up, moron.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
So you're saying that because he's a vet, we should ignore warning signs? You used the phrase "typical vet that goes through college," ostensibly meaning MOST vets wouldn't wig out... but some have. Do we ignore that? You would.
And of course PSU is going to kowtow to pressure from a special interest. But I don't.
It isn't my fault you can't seem to understand plainly written English. Of course warning signs should not be ignored, but PTSD in and of itself is not a warning sign. Do some vets "wig out?" Yes. Do non-vets "wig out?" Yes, and statistics show that non-vets "wig out" more frequently. I am not a neocon, and your weak attempts to paint people opposed to this video as neocons or right wing extremists just shows the weakness of your arguments. You are a pathetic moron that should try harder.
The video clearly shows a typical left wing extremist shitting all over a vet who only wants to be graded fairly. I got straight As in college because I made a bunch of shit up about my parents being wealthy former SDS radicals who live in San Francisco. I agreed with the every political opinion of my profs even when I didnt.
This is what happens when youre honest. I failed to write papers at all and skipped class constantly, yet I got As.
Colleges allow violent political terrorist groups to operate right on campus. They often ransack newspapers belonging to other student groups, rush stages in attempts to inflict harm upon public speakers, mob assault students who dont agree with them, bring knives to class, and openly support radical Islam.
This guy is a "warning sign" because he was stupid enough to think that he would be treated fairly in class? She probably heads the fucking SDS chapter!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Still not over yourself? PLEASE point out at what point (min:sec) where the video calls all veterans dangerous or even suspect. It's the standard neocon practice to assume a critcism aimed at one is aimed at all. This is simply more neo sour grapes at being dealt such a harsh blow in November. Don't worry, that feeling of helplessness will go away in 8 years. LOL
Cornstar5, there is no hope for idiots like you. You assume I am some sort of neocon, and that I somehow feel helpless. I suppose I should expect such nonsense since there is no substance to your argument. Nobody said that all veterans are dangerous or even suspect. What was implied by the video is the stereotype of the less-educated agressive veteran. That fact that you can't see that only proves that you are stupid. So, go ahead and make your childish comments and assumptions. Moron.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I can easily assume your political lean from the other postings here- all dittohead. You assume the implication of the video, which nulls your argument. You ignore the incident at PSU several years ago, where an ROTC student shot several students from a sniper position in some hedges on Old Main Lawn.
Those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it.
You are the authoritarian without authority. Ending every post with a rubber/glue name. Very mature and intelligent.
Cornhole, I call it the way I see it, and you are a moron. None of my posts indicate anything other than me being offended by a video that Penn State says is offensive. I suppose you think those 2 nerd kids that killed all those people at Columbine are veterans too, or maybe you think they watched Fox News too much. The fact that you succumb to such stereotypes and profiling further proves you have a very low IQ. You just don't get it, and you probably never will. Idiot. Yes, you are one.
My favorite line from the video: "My personal beliefs have nothing to do with the way I treat you." By basing the scenario on a veteran who is seemingly so dangerous I think Penn has proven that the university has some strange preconceived ideas about veterans in general.
That's okay Penn, I spent 30+ years wearing a uniform to protect the rights and lives of everyone in this country - even those who are ungrateful and biased.
While this shit is unbelievable, I have seen instances of teachers being excessively harsh both in the classroom and in grades of the students that have differing political or religious views. That's how college is... it's called "discretionary points." It's how you can get all A's on papers and homework and get a C in the class.
This is absolutely fucking disgusting. The men and women that serve this country to ensure that all of us are free deserve the up most respect. I love the last line the guy playing a veteran says. "I just want the grade that I deserve" I'm sorry but I really wouldn't expect to hear that from really anyone who has served in the armed forces. I know what it means to earn something. No one is entitled to a grade, they must earn it. No matter who the fuck you are.
Penn State is merely resurrecting a tired old smear...the maladjusted vet. Why not, since Obama's DHS has tainted U.S. service vets as potential terrorists? I was on the receiving end of this very same treatment during 1970's college days. The academy is totally rotted with leftist dogma. The termites have eaten everything but the paint.
Cornstar5, you are an idiot. It is clear that you are the kind of idiot that would say "I would support BLACKS...except last week, a BLACK shot a high-school kid." So, based on your reasoning, stereotyping is acceptable and enough of a reason for you to justify your own attitudes and behavior. In other words, you are the reason why people are against stereotyping, because you personify the very essence of the idiot that responds to unfair stereotypes. Moron.

Gotcha, Einstein. Ignore the fact that Scott Garlick was shot at his after-school job without a word from the gunman. Tim McVey was a vet AND a Republican. Like you. Sorry if I can't be PC enough for you, Hannity. Pretend it doesn't ever happen, and it might happen to YOU, look up PTSD, it's a REAL problem. You do vets a disservice by ignoring it. Signed, Proud Air Force Veteran.
So, based on your flawed reasoning, I suppose I should hold it against all Democrats and Black Football Players when they kill kill people, right? Perhaps I should view all black people as a threat. since statistics show they commit more crimes. Do you not see how such reasoning makes you out to be a pathetic moron? Using inductive reasoning to justify your predjudice against your fellow veterans is just as stupid as someone using the same reasoning to be prejudicial against all blacks. Moron.

I live near here. I'd be joining in the chorus of support for the vets... except last week, an Iraq War vet shot a high-school kid (dead) and a woman (seriously injured) at a Subway restaurant, then shot an elderly man dead as he went for his mail. Military service is honorable, but does not excuse bad behavior by vets. This isn't an attack on the military, it's a necessary warning. Some vets are a-holes. Deal with it.
Honestly, how many times has something like this happened? This seems like it is entirely propaganda aimed at those who have sacrificed everything for this country. PSU should be ashamed.
This is ridiculous. Penn State posts this, the Department of Homeland Security releases a report about veterans being recruited by right wing radicals. Why are veterans getting such a bad deal?
The liberal jerkwads who created this crappy little film are disgraceful. Imagine their horror if somebody made this exact film about a gay student or a black student. They are despicable and not worthy to be in the same room with most veterans of our military.
At least the Vietnamese reeducation camps which welcomed the former S. Vietnamese military officers onto their campuses were tuition-free. Now our veterans must pay good money (often borrowed) for the privilege of being redirected to the straight and narrow path leading to the nirvana of political correctness and some sort of phony-baloney job for which such an "education" must surely equip one.
Typical liberal crap from typical leftist buttheads. This video is all too real at most colleges. This garbage will continue as long as students put up with it. I think a few thousand e-mails to the State Legislature that controls the budget for PSU is in order. Let your anger be heard.
Since this all seems to "situational speculation and response", rather than an actual problem or event...let's play "what if?" WHAT IF college staff used their skills of education to combat the NEED for "veterans"? WHAT IF these academians could actually convince the politicians that the history of "foreign policy" is one of massive failure? WHAT IF colleges used classrooms as "interactive libraries", rather than social soapboxes. WHAT IF "JoPa" wasn't the only good thing @ PSU?
So Stupid .. typical out-of-touch liberal bias. Seriously, "veterans" don't talk to teachers that way .. they are trained to respect authority, if anything. He sounds more like a typical bratty spoiled college kid raised up via typical "entitlement" programs (aka: public school systems). I go to school with kids like that right now and its NOT the "vets" who behave this way. I'm glad they pulled the video from their site. The last thing we need in this country is MORE liberal fear propaganda
I'm a university professor, and a veteran. Over the years (17 all total), I've found vets are conscientious and take "real" constructive critique to heart. The "I don't have time for that" and "I need a B" comments are more common from my young traditional students, probably the same type as produced this propaganda piece.
If your a vet, don't let incompetent teachers cheat you out of the education you've earned. Universities have academic review boards to handle just such cases.
What hasn't this been flagged and removed for hate speach yet?

So we're to understand this is how it goes
In the military
Superior: You will do everything I say scumbag! And if I tell you to do it again, you'll thank me for the opportunity to fix your shit!
Subordinate: Yes sir!
Now in the classroom
Teacher: Your grammar was poor, you should get some study help.
Student: How dare you! I'm perfect! Nobody has ever told me I'm wrong, I'll go above your head and ruin you!
Makes perfect sense.

This video is horse shit. What an absolute JOKE.
I would venture to say that most college students who have put on a uniform have MORE respect for authority than their civilian counterparts.
The fact that someone produced this on a serious note and it was approved for release makee me worry about America and her people.

Hey, not all liberals hate the military.

If the LGBT, womens, African-American, Latino or Asian-American community had been targeted like this, there would be campus demonstrations, a faculty vote of no confidence, and the ACLU wouild be down at the Federal courthouse getting an injunction. Penn State needs to consider the negative impact this will have on public perceptions of returning veterans, and impact this will have on veterans considering attending Penn State. As a potential graduate student and former student of UW-Madison (and a College Republican), this behavior by the Penn State Student Affairs Office is disappointing.

Did you choke on the crap you spew? I hope so.

Get over yourself.
cornstar5 2 years ago
Should I hold it against all Koreans that Seung-Hui Cho killed all those kids at Virginia Tech? Based on your reasoning, I should. Not all vets suffer from PTSD, and the overwhelming majority of vets suffering from PTSD don't harm anyone, and that is a fact. Cornstar5, everytime you post you prove your stupidity and demonstrate that you have the very same characteristics that you supposedly imply you are against.

AGAIN.
cornstar5 2 years ago
Nobody said that a veteran's problems should be ignored you idiot, and the typical veteran that goes through college is usually more experienced and mature and doesn't ever expect to be "pushed through." I actually spoke to the people at Penn State and discussed this at length. Strange how even they indicate that the video is offensive and unfairly stereotypes veterans, but you want to cling to some sort of notion that there is nothing wrong with the video. Grow up, moron.

You're still not overyourself are you, Hannity?
cornstar5 2 years ago
It isn't my fault you can't seem to understand plainly written English. Of course warning signs should not be ignored, but PTSD in and of itself is not a warning sign. Do some vets "wig out?" Yes. Do non-vets "wig out?" Yes, and statistics show that non-vets "wig out" more frequently. I am not a neocon, and your weak attempts to paint people opposed to this video as neocons or right wing extremists just shows the weakness of your arguments. You are a pathetic moron that should try harder.
SixStringMaestro 2 years ago 10
"MOST vets wouldn't wig out... but some have"
The video clearly shows a typical left wing extremist shitting all over a vet who only wants to be graded fairly. I got straight As in college because I made a bunch of shit up about my parents being wealthy former SDS radicals who live in San Francisco. I agreed with the every political opinion of my profs even when I didnt.
This is what happens when youre honest. I failed to write papers at all and skipped class constantly, yet I got As.
jackbelias 2 years ago 10
"we should ignore warning signs?"

LOL
cornstar5 2 years ago
Cornstar5, there is no hope for idiots like you. You assume I am some sort of neocon, and that I somehow feel helpless. I suppose I should expect such nonsense since there is no substance to your argument. Nobody said that all veterans are dangerous or even suspect. What was implied by the video is the stereotype of the less-educated agressive veteran. That fact that you can't see that only proves that you are stupid. So, go ahead and make your childish comments and assumptions. Moron.

Very mature and intelligent.
cornstar5 2 years ago
Cornhole, I call it the way I see it, and you are a moron. None of my posts indicate anything other than me being offended by a video that Penn State says is offensive. I suppose you think those 2 nerd kids that killed all those people at Columbine are veterans too, or maybe you think they watched Fox News too much. The fact that you succumb to such stereotypes and profiling further proves you have a very low IQ. You just don't get it, and you probably never will. Idiot. Yes, you are one.
SixStringMaestro 2 years ago 6
My favorite line from the video: "My personal beliefs have nothing to do with the way I treat you." By basing the scenario on a veteran who is seemingly so dangerous I think Penn has proven that the university has some strange preconceived ideas about veterans in general.
That's okay Penn, I spent 30+ years wearing a uniform to protect the rights and lives of everyone in this country - even those who are ungrateful and biased.
JoachimGutz 2 years ago 3
Replace "veteran" with "african american". As a veteran myself, that's how offensive it is to me.

While this shit is unbelievable, I have seen instances of teachers being excessively harsh both in the classroom and in grades of the students that have differing political or religious views. That's how college is... it's called "discretionary points." It's how you can get all A's on papers and homework and get a C in the class.
IVIoI3iuS 2 years ago 5

Deal with it.
cornstar5 2 years ago
Honestly, how many times has something like this happened? This seems like it is entirely propaganda aimed at those who have sacrificed everything for this country. PSU should be ashamed.
jjmatt04 2 years ago 2
It used to be that even mainstream liberals didn't really attakc the military.
But now, it must be that the academy is so radicalized in their administrations that they feel confident enough to pull this crap.
I want to see an apology by these lowlifes, but the best thing about being a liberal is that you don't have to apologize for shit.
HollywoodWags 2 years ago 4
This is ridiculous. Penn State posts this, the Department of Homeland Security releases a report about veterans being recruited by right wing radicals. Why are veterans getting such a bad deal?
robbyshankar 2 years ago 2
I went a took a look at the PSU site, all "problem students" are white, the only really controversial subject was tihs one, and it was removed.
Nothing about inner city hoods, nothing about leftist radicals disrupting class (which certainly happens), nothing about anything controversial...
Guess the US military personnel are the only ones those administrators feel ballsy enough to rip on in such a nasty way.
F those bastards.
HollywoodWags 2 years ago 5
The liberal jerkwads who created this crappy little film are disgraceful. Imagine their horror if somebody made this exact film about a gay student or a black student. They are despicable and not worthy to be in the same room with most veterans of our military.
dagalagas 2 years ago 5
At least the Vietnamese reeducation camps which welcomed the former S. Vietnamese military officers onto their campuses were tuition-free. Now our veterans must pay good money (often borrowed) for the privilege of being redirected to the straight and narrow path leading to the nirvana of political correctness and some sort of phony-baloney job for which such an "education" must surely equip one.
capr1c1ous 2 years ago
Typical liberal crap from typical leftist buttheads. This video is all too real at most colleges. This garbage will continue as long as students put up with it. I think a few thousand e-mails to the State Legislature that controls the budget for PSU is in order. Let your anger be heard.
surfrider321 2 years ago 2
Since this all seems to "situational speculation and response", rather than an actual problem or event...let's play "what if?" WHAT IF college staff used their skills of education to combat the NEED for "veterans"? WHAT IF these academians could actually convince the politicians that the history of "foreign policy" is one of massive failure? WHAT IF colleges used classrooms as "interactive libraries", rather than social soapboxes. WHAT IF "JoPa" wasn't the only good thing @ PSU?

I wonder if the vet tried to write a paper about the real work but found the instructor only wanted the PC response to the issue?
