  • @JasonsEvilMind 2001 is the greatest film ever made. No question for me.

My top 5 would all be Kubrick films, although I haven't seen ACO, so it wouldn't make my list.

I also think Alien should be on the list, because Alien is artistically deep as a movie, loaded with messages about birth and sex, and a fascist undertone. The alien is considered by the "powers that be" to be the superior race to humans, and the humans on the ship are expendable, the alien is all that matters.

  • 1. American Beauty

    2. The Shining

    3. No Country For Old Men

  • Natural Born Killers Fight Club Aliens Memento Trainspotting Pulp Fiction The Matrix Blade Runner Seven The Usual Suspects just a quick draft of my top 10, not necessarily in that order & mainly of the last 2 decades

  • you all do not understand where he is coming from with this list! he said in the beginning that films should overall entertain and make you think about lifes big questions. Thats what these movies did for him...but just because this is his top ten does not make it the worlds top ten forever! everyone list is different...some people thing Vertigo is the best, some The Godfather, and some think High School Musical. its all opinion based...mine btw is Fight Club, no movie can do for me what it can!

  • I disagree. Movies should ALWAYS be entertaining, but they don't HAVE to be art.

  • aw :( the wizard of oz is a brilliant movie but i'm glad he put vertigo in there and a clockwork orange is probably my favourite

  • blade runner is a terrible film

  • Why do ya say that???

  • very good list

  • brilliant list all of these films are classics and all the ones ive seen that he mentioned are all in my top 50 list.

  • a bit long this video but still good- 3 star

  • what about the godfather or pulp fiction or shawshank redemption????????????

  • I havent seen allot of these movies, tbh i dont think they are the best movies, they are also very dated now.

  • 12 Angry Men is probably one of my favorite movies of all time. I think it deserves top ten.

  • shawshank is the best movie ever

  • he's more right then the guild and he understands what makes a movie truly special.

  • vertigo is my fav movie of all time

  • Several great movies here. Seventh seal, Vertigo, Clockwork orange, all favorites of mine. Seventh seal is from 1957 and Blue velvet is 1986 though ;)

  • Ingmar bergman is the shit!

  • David Flynch? haha

  • wow. this is such a great list. every movie he talked about is a movie i have seen and loved or am dying to see

  • such a bad list lol. seriously

  • The best movies must be these:

    3. Blade Runner.

    2. The Good, The Bad and the ugly.

    1. The Godfather.

  • Like the list mostly. Blue Velvet was just too disturbing to me at the time. I'll have to watch the Searchers! I agree we should bring our brain to the movies. Although, sometmes the sheer joy of getting wrapped up in a good story is enough for me. Here's a few faves off the top of my head not mentioned 1)Brazil 2) Buckaroo Banzai 3)Bride Of Frankenstein 4) Babbette's Feast 5)Princess Bride 6)Wings Of Desire 7)Sophie Scholl 8)Gentleman's Agreement 9)The Fisher King 10) Metropolis

  • godfather / clockworkorange / space odyssey / taxi driver / unce upon america / lost in africa / the elefhant men / the piano / the great ditador /modern times

  • Pretty good list.

  • I was about to comment about the fact that (USING HIS CRITERIA(THOUGHT PROVOKING ART)) Fight Club should be on that list. It is a great anti-system film, but I see a few people have already beaten me to it. Awesome!!

  • anybody who replied negative to that is an idiot.

not only is it his opinion which you can all step the fuck off of

but fight club is a badass movie

  • godfather space odyssey there will be blood no country annie hall star wars ikiru citizen kane dr strangelove clockwork orange bladerunner
  • hahahaha wow man. u missed almost every great movie ever made. u are just another old timer and these movies are from your generation, so u cant look forward to more recent movies such as American Beauty, Fight Club, Forrest Gump, Apollo 13, some of the most influential movies of all time. especially American Beauty, talk about bringing up questions about the meaning of life.

  • Apollo 13 compared to these movies? LOL

  • Comment removed

  • drama: the shawshank redemption/ the godfather 2/ Casablanca

    sci-fi/horror/fantasy: aliens/ psycho

comedy/musical/animation: when the wind blows/ singin' in the rain

historical/ western: apocalypse now/ Z/ the Good, the Bad and the Ugly

  • I like this guy's idea of what a good movie should be....

  • FIGHT CLUB

a very influential satire of consumerism, capitalism, and modern american life of men and their search for power

  • where the fuck is shawshank????

  • Are you serious.. god fucking damn...

  • Wow... misread that, thought you said WHAT the fuck is shawshank, love that movie.

  • watch it. the best ending ever

  • He is entitled to his opinion. But this pretentious redneck needs to just shut the hell up. HIS list is better than AFI's because HE believes these movies carry more artistic weight or some B.S. Well I'll tell you. I am a HUGE movie snob. I agree with Vertigo, and I agree with the fact that Hitchcock is the greatest director of all time. But for the love of God!!! Blue freaking Velvet?!

  • scarface!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Agree or disagree, at least you hear the reasoning behind the selections. IMO Blade Runner and Blue Velvet cannot even be considered.

  • Leon is best film all time!!!

  • Fucking twat if you ask me!

  • wht sort of wanker dosnt wanna be entertained by films

  • HELL YES! a clockwork orange. best movie ever.

  • Not the best movie ever, but it does deserve a top ten spot. my top ten 1.The Godfather 2.The Godfather Part II 3.Once Upon A Time In America 4.Apocalypse Now 5.Raging Bull 6.Citizen Kane 7.Blade Runner 8.Barry Lyndon 9.Taxi Driver 10.A Clockwork Orange
  • very disappointing. taxi driver was good though. i dont get why people like the godfather so much. it wasnt really that good

  • The Godfather is a masterpiece, i don't get why people will hate it.

  • im pretty sure i've seen taxi driver. does the guy like shave it head?

  • He shaves into a Mohawk, it is Robert De Niro.

  • ok thanks

  • The Godfather should of been on the list.

    Titanic too.

  • Yeah, Titanic was not that good.

  • This guy's pretty up himself. Seriously, he's only choosing half of these because he wants to sound intellectual.

  • Dont agree with the list, BUT well thought out. Hey it's the internet freedom ring.

  • Good list for the most part. Vertigo, ACO, Blade Runner, Blue Velvet, The Third Man, & the Seventh Seal are all favorites of mine and like or love the rest of the films alot, except for the Searchers which is an overrated western. I have never been a huge John Wayne fan, but I love John Ford(perticularly Grapes Of Wrath). But this guy for got one thing. this is for the best american films, so seventh seal and a pure formality would not be allowed in the list.

  • john wayne my dick

  • WHY does everyone complain about old movies. Its not that big a deal. If its a good movie then it goes on the list. that simple. And besides its not like he wants you to agree with his opinion he just wants to share it.

  • I'm not sure if you people saying these movies are to old are not listing and or just plain dumb because over half of these films are made after 1960

  • he said top ten movies of all time, NOT top ten new movies.

  • amen brother

  • like your top ten more then afi's a lot of movies i love and anyone who says your opinon is bad they can go strait to hell

  • the empire strikes back, the exorcist, indepence day, the craft and rocky are the best we have all seen these

  • indepence day was a chessy chessy movie

  • Rear Window is the best film ever.

  • take it easy dude

  • hey, common people. everybody has their own opinions, and i personally think that the movies he picked are decent.

  • lol

  • Arnold is not a good actor.

Just his physic got him where he is.

The godfather should of been in the list.

Scarface was too much larger than life.

    Rambo sucked.

Van Damme was one of the crappiest actors ever.

Terminator was not bad but still didn't deserve to be in this list.

    Superbad???

Sucked ass only got one or two laughs out of me.

  • My top ten movies, In no order

    The wizard of oz

    Star wars V

    Goldfinger

    Terminator 1+2

Monty python and the holy grail

    ET

    jurasic park

    The karate kid

    rocky I

  • shut the fuck up faggot

  • this is less fun than watching paint dry.

  • great opinion!

  • hey old man! get modernized pls.

  • he's too far into classics !

  • Orson and Hitler? Lynch is influential? God how pointless and uninformed.

Outside of "Seventh Seal" and "Kane" your list is predicated on your assumption that you're a good deal more intelligent than reality belies. Your "reasons" are sophomoric.

"Vertigo" is the best movie ever made, eh?

Do yourself a favor and watch "The Wages of Fear". Twice.

This posting smacks of LA kulture.

Sorry to be negative, but your list and it's presenter are deplorable.

  • Vertigo is the best movie ever made, yes!!! Have you seen it?

  • Satyajit Ray...and he thinks he is a movie genius...pathetic

  • agreed...there cant be a top ten without something by satyajit ray

  • there is no action films or comedys in this list. for me to like a film it has to be very vilent or very funny and have a good story.

  • do u like violent films? I can name very many which are considered art. 1) saving private ryan, the lighting and effects are definitly considered art because they are so unique and fascinating. 2)titanic, there are no films that are comparable to the cinematography in this movie, also considered art. 3) godfather is one of my top movies and if you don't call that acting art, then i dont know what to call it. the excuisitness of marlon brando and his portayal of the godfather is pure art.

  • um doesn't he talk about "the wild bunch", "blade runner", "a clockwork orange" and there are more.

  • No apocolypse now what a let down Its such a powerful and intense great movie.

  • I loved one flew over the cuckoos nest.

  • I agree except for the last one.

  • um you kinda forgot alot of great films such as , Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Monty pytons work saving private ryan and those films are definatley some of the betsof all time

  • You should try, withnail and I, trainspotting and also there's apocolipse now, Dr Strangelove

  • the seventh seal is the best on ur list

  • 1940's shit

  • i think godfather part 2 and rocky part 1 was pretty good

  • blade runner ftw

  • A great list. As soon as you stated describing what films should be, i just thought of The Seventh Seal, i knew it had to be in your list. Some amazing films here, i would have encluded at least one Nouvelle Vague movie though, like 400 Blows or A Bout De Souffle.

  • what about all the great funny shit?

  • did you from 10 to 1 or 1 10.

  • I think it's in chronological order

  • your top 10 list is the same as my bottom 10 list. Are you fricking kidding!!!!!!!!! one movie in the last 20 yrs???? and that was 14 yrs ago with some fat french guy in it!!! pal, you have no idea.

  • Does anyone like Saving Private Ryan?

  • not really

but everyone i know loves it

  • No 1 for me is 2001. As it addresses the question that transcends ALL political issues around the world, by asking 'are we alone'.

If the answer is no, and the evidence is found, as in the Arthur C Clarks short novel "The Sentinel" it'll change humanity and the way we see ourselves forever, especially if these beings by coming here and then moving on are technologically vastly more advanced then we are.

  • Actually, 2001 is a movie mainly based on interpretation, there was never one true meaning to the film.

  • Actually, 2001 and was based on an Arthur C. Clarke short story called 'The Sentinel'.

  • Great list, check out mine.

  • Thank you for this! Keep up the excellent commentaries.

  • 1 .- is 300

  • do you think that Clockwork Orange could make the top 100? Just wondering...

  • it makes the top 20 stanley's best movie....along with full metal jacket of course

  • titanic?

  • Uh....no. This doesn't work. The problem with this guy is that he is putting films that are "great but not THAT great" in his list. The Wild Bunch and Verigo would be in my Top 100 but not Top 10. Still at least he likes classic films and NOT enough people on Youtube like classic films. I'm 12 and I love 'em.

  • i agree with u about 100% on that. im 13 and all everyone likes on outube are like action comedy tuff, and u can find classic comedy and action tuff, u just have to look past the box office and before u were born

  • Exactly. Thanks for letting me know I'm not alone on that.

  • NOT IN ORDER>>>>>>JUST CORRECT deliverance apocalypse now one flew over the coocoo's nest the good the bad and the ugly cool hand luke goodfellas butch cassidy and the sundance kid fargo the big lebowski true romance scarface anyone kool like me will agree.... honorable mention.............blade runner
  • pulp fiction????

  • quentin's true romance was better than pulp fiction as per my list i suggest you view it more stars his first movie and better across the board.......id argue resevoir dogs gives pulp fiction a run for its money...pulp fiction is a commercialized film

  • true, but its just one of those movies..

he makes films that are just good and can make a conversation out of nothing and make it funny

  • He is talking about art in the movies and has no Fellini, Passolini or Truffaut movie in his list?

  • The reason we watch movies is for entertainment. We don't watch movies for art.

  • to some people art is entertaining, and the seventh seal is a very funny film aswell and being one of the best dramas of all time.

you cant generalize all peoples opinions on yours

  • im sorry but id have to disagree with you. Im a bit offended when u say WE watch movies for entertainment and not art. i think we watch movies for BOTH entertainment and art. I can name many enteraining movies that are art too, its jsut that people dont stop and think about the movie as much as they should. they just watch and go on to the next one. Altho his list is an okay one, there are many other better well known ones that u might enjoy

  • boondock saints should be on every list

  • boondock saints sucks! i hate it with all my heart. im sorry.

  • lol foreign films just dont cut it.....

    most of the time

and this film you speak of is an example i saw it and it was worthy of passin time...with beer, wanna watch somethin watch scene 6 threw 11 on youtube of the thin red line yes its downloaded or should i say uploaded on youtube after you view it tell me of a better sequence of close quarter combat with grenades and guns ever in cinema

  • foreign films are great man. it just depends o the one u see. city of god, the most distubing and a rly great film. diving bell and the butterfly, a man trapped inside his own body after a storke leaves him paralyzed, its amazing

  • well afi had a us film rule so he might to

  • just actually watched the video lol - blade runner is one of my favourite films but its got alot of mistakes and the pacing is kinda bad

  • ok ok - heres the REAL LIST! 10. Pulp Fiction 9. Apocolypse Now 8. Annie Hall 7. The Godfather II 6. Casablanca 5. Lawrence Of Arabia 4. Rebecca 3. All About Eve 2. On The Waterfront 1. The Godfather ok ** that was the greatest films of all time list . fullstop
  • and that list is not my - omg my fucking fav moves EVER! list - its the list of the best movies ever - my personal fav list is different but you idiots below who put stuff like star wars?? are you stupid? star wars has so many flaws in script and direction its unbelievable!

  • Apocolypse Now - yes

    Lawrence Of Arabia - ok

    Annie Hall - no

There has to be at least 1 Kubrick movie on any list.
