Hey man, I've been subscribed for a while and love all your stuff. It's funny that the whole ambient thing (via guitar) has become so popular in the last few years though I like it. I've grown so tired of all the blues based or just distortion distortion distortion. I was just wondering if you have listened to good old Michael Brook? What about any of the Cocteau Twins stuff? Any band project in the works with your current song writing style? Thanks and take care.
I've been watching your videos for quite a while now, and I really, really enjoy them. None of them disappoint. And I really like the fact that you serve God, and I can tell that in your music. Keep it up!
Hey really love your stuff man. I just got into ambient playing and got the strymon BSR for that reason. Stumbled upon your vids, but i have a question for ya. I saw in some of your other vids you also use an RV5. The BSR seems like its got everything you can think of on the reverb front, any reason you got both in particular and use them together? Is it so you can have the BSR on shimmer and the RV5 on smthg else? Lemme know, cause im diggin your sound!
@soapboxracer182 I honestly hate shimmer sounds, I think they're really cheesy. I use the BSR for big plate and room sounds and leave the RV5 on modulate mode.
man u sound great!! i dont know what type of music you listen to but check out a Helios albumn called Eingya. theres alot of parts similiar to the things you got goin on in ur vids so i think u might like it. Sons of Light and Darkness, Bless this Morning Year, and Dragonfly Across an Open Sky are really good off it.
Very nice, I love the volume pedal stuff. I always thought Michael Landau was great at the volume swell "pads", have you listened to him much? I think the El Capistan will be my next pedal purchase, I've really wanted one for a while now...what a great sound. That's some beautiful music you're making, keep it up!
how the heck do you get the looper to stay that clean for so long? even with tape age/bias/flutter set to minimum, my el capistan gets basically indistinguishable after a few minutes. yours sounded perfect throughout
@41224jason make sure your repeats knob isn't all the way up... make it just high enough so that it's not decaying, but too high will make it start getting saturated and distorted really fast.
dude, this is awesome! If you dont mind, what settings do you have your blueSky and Carbon Copy on? I have both but I have a hard time getting my blueSky to dwell enough, but not overpower everything or have a nasty bite. thanks man
how do you keep your swells so smooth? i have a blue sky, but i cant seem to get the same dwell effect as you unless i play louder, which sounds too edgy for ambient. do you just play everything soft?
what pedal order should I have?? Guitar into reverb, into volume pedal into delay? I have a RV-5, dd20, dl4, and a volume pedal on the way. I was thinking of using the dl4 pedal for looping background ambient sound...
Amazing!!... currently trying to achieve this ambient tone but not sure where to start. Im playing out of a fender blues junior and have a dd-20, line 6 dl4, and a boss rv-5 pedal so far. Can't even come close this this sound. Any suggestions, such as exact pedal settings for those pedals?? Other pedals that I should invest in? which way to arrange the pedals? thanks...
yo i know your busy but before i ask have you ever heard of the lunar echo pedal by dmb? If so how does the EL CAPISTAN compare to it? please respond thanks
Quick question about the blueSky...what are you using for power? I just got mine, and my Pedal Power 2 and blueSky don't seem to get along. There is a weird electronic clicking, and the bypass LED flashes. The unit works fine with the supplied power supply, but I would prefer to use my PP2. I will try to contact Strymon as well. And so its said again by someone else...great video as always.
i restarted my browser with this open while listen to "if i could change the world" by eric clapton, and needless to say i was confused. its in the same key and was crazy. haha
There's nothing better when you're a little bit drunk, you come back home, you sit in front of your computer at night and listen to this heavenly music.
@tubescreamer hey got a question....i know you used the el capistan as a loop but was there also a delay coming from it as well....or was that just coming straight from the carbon copy...i just bought a super reverb ...things so freakin awesome....i was gonna wait and be responsible and not buy some pedals but i just cant help it....i have to have those strymons...anyways....just curious before i buy
@tubescreamer Recently I've been really getting into this style of playing and I'm looking for a good, inexpensive reverb pedal. Would you recomend the verbzilla, the Hardwire RV-7 or the Boss RV-5?
Also, your music is one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard.
This is amazing!

How are you running your blue sky and el cap in stereo together? thanks
benbrown4544 1 week ago
@benbrown4544 he's probably going mono into the el cap because it only has mono inputs then stereo out into the blue sky with stereo ins.
