A great review man! You really know your stuff. I was wondering if you could help me out... I'm having some trouble deciding between this one and the KA11 sub compact model. The intention is to add to an emergency kit and for backpacking... Seems like the fine tuning on the 1102 makes it the stronger choice. 3 AA batteries instead of 2 AA really bugs me. Have you any insight on that? thanks!
Unfortunately I don't have any first hand knowledge of the sub compact model. I also checked Amazon.com and it does generally get a good rating. Read some of the reviews and then maybe purchase one to see if it fits your needs.

It is possible go under 500 kHz (start from 000 kHz) . I modded but now I can't find the URL where the mod is described :( Anyone can help me?
