Sachs is a brilliant economist, and he is fairly spot on here. My personal issue with ETS is that, when a companies Marginal Abatement Cost is higher than the market price for Carbon Permits, we essentially have a zero sum game i.e No Change. It will be interesting to see how Rudd handles this and I believe this is why he is talking so closely with the big polluters such as the Coal Industry

I do find it odd, however, that such a die hard Liberal would have someone like Sachs - who is constantly slammed for being a Socialist/Lefty - to illustrate their point.

This administration is far worse than any so-called Liberal Party 'scare campaign' ever predicted and for different reasons. They told us to watch out because the big bad unions were coming and raising interest rates.
