übermensch is right. it was meant as a joke to use the nin beat. I lived in seattle by the time I made this. I was broke and needed money. I made that in less than 2 days and got 1k for it. I still like it and the manson song is one of the best he ever did.
@necro2607 ...a whole lot of them are? Sometimes you don't need any more than that amount of time... Just like so many great sounds out in the world were written in the matter of hours...
this is an OKAY cover... nothing more, nothing less... i say that because the music isnt bad at all, but the lyrics are boring as hell to listen to...
@Dakedoom It sounds like it, but can't it just be a beat? That's like me taking all the EBM ever made that is Dj friendly and saying BOOM BOOM BOOM is from some random old school trance song. I mean really..
@Dakedoom That you said it was from a Nine Inch Nail's song because that is the only thing you had reference to, when it is just a beat that you were only able to identify. So by someone creating a beat that sounds similar, they have to be accused of "USING" someone else's song? Of course not, unless they have something else, such as the bassline or a melody. That's my point.
@24okay i know what you said, but i don't understand why. melodies aren't the only things that can be copied/borrowed/plagiarised. a beat is not just a beat. it has a distinct sound consisting of percussion, synth effects and production. not only that, but the song Closer is far too known in the electro-industrial scene for this to be some astronomical coincidence. and even so, i do not care. i'm not judging anybody for it, simply pointing out what i considered to be ironic
@24okay also, Trent has often stated that he lets people use his music to do whatever they want. use samples in their own music and such. i don't understand what you're so defensive about
eew. manson's original song is perfect! wtf is this trying-to-transform-manson's-song-in-a-dance-music?? the whole music is crap! sorry people, i hated it! but don't hate me! it's just my opinion..
The NIN-Closer percussion is Daniel's sense of humor. It is a jab at the MM/NIN feud of a few years back. (when this came out) Daniel owned this song period. The depth of this song is so much more fully realized in this version.
A cover of a Marilyn Manson song that samples a Nine Inch Nails song that samples an Iggy Pop song...

I like Manson's version better, but then I've always liked dark lyrics with dancey beats.

It's easier to dance to perhaps, but I wouldn't use "deep" when describing this cover.

It's shame this sample is from Nine inch nails Closer. I think this group really messed up this song

It's actually a sample of a sample-the sample being from Iggy Pop's "Nightclubbing"
