STAGGERING! detroit was about manufacturing,in fact america was based on that.thank bill clinton for this horror scene.fair trade with china, epic fail.now, all these hard working people are down in a hole.i have a college degree, and not one phone call or e-mail.yes.like that woman said,"this is sad".i hope the best for ALL.
Socialism....capitalism....social-democracy. It doesn't matter - the real problem is there are just TOO MANY PEOPLE, and people continue to spawn ad-naseum. There is no easy solution to overpopulation.
No this is a clear problem caused by the economical system - capitalism. It's unequal distribution of money is what makes it possible for some to live in castles and bathe in champagne while others starve on the street!
Reminds me of the Titanic. The rich were the first to get access to lifeboats. Then the middle class got whatever boats remained. And finally the poor were left to fight amongst themselves and die.
Detroit has been sinking for decades. But now the waves are crashing over the bow and the end is quickly approaching. The rich and the middle class tax payers have already left. Those who remain are victims of what philosopher Friedrich Engels called "social murder".
These are some amazing images. Thank you for reporting the truth regarding the social misery that this economic system is forcing on us. Capitalism has GOT to go!

The money isn't coming from the "Rich" or "Elite"!!!
It comes from YOU! It comes from the middle class!! Don't you understand that "they" create their own money from thin air?!

are you stupid?
bush & chaney has spent a billion dollars a week on their war in Iraq. the war has been going on 6years & counting.
it the reason the economy is tetering,
that & their crooked banker friends who have stole billions from wall st. plus they get billions more of the peoples money again for bail-out.
no wonder everybody is broke with no job.
50,000 people lining up for 3,500 slots for help.
i hope Obama plans on doing a lot more than this,
to save the people.
jagib2 2 years ago
By the end of Obamas first year, he will have spent more than Bush did in all eight years of his presidency. Not saying that Bush was better......

CHANGE YOU CAN BELIEVE IN!!!!!!
YamaGrizz09 2 years ago 11
economic crisis effects the poor first. racism is intensified. black people are facing the brunt of the crisis- look how the majority here are black.
Obama is a capitalist and has no interest in helping the working classes, black, white or latino.
The US government is a racist and oppressive government, which lives off the backs of the poor and working class around the world.
time to organise the fightback ! fight racism, fight imperialism, smash capitalism!!!

I'm sure responsible white men like yourself can come up with a "reasonable" solution to the problem.

" I live with my mother and go to college, but I'm like almost homeless and I heard by word of mouth they were giving money out"
Typical. Notice how the reporter managed to find the only 2 white people in a crowd of 50,000!
These lines are to pick up an application? Why doesn't a city employee walk down the line and give the fricken forms out! God help us all.

Are you dumb or what ? These people nearly live in the streets, how do you want them to have internet ?
Plixerify 2 years ago
So instead of letting people print out applications from the internet, the government did this?
Yeah, let's give them control of our health care.
