  • thanks just reading the manual wasnt enough ! this helped me clean my poor gun properly finally!

  • Hey, thank You for this how-to video. It really helped. :)

  • This is great, This is my first gun and i want to be able to dissamble and reassemble it so this was the most helpful vvideo I've seen on it

  • Great vid period John

  • Hi,

I finally got my Mark II back together, but I have to pull the trigger TWICE to fire; any idea as to why? Did I over lubricate or possibly not assembled correctly? Thanks - nice vid!

  • @brvalk Do you have to recock between trigger pulls? If so, your firing pin might have some grit that is holding it up. It's possible that the hammer spring isn't interlocked properly with the hammer linkage. When you swing the hammer spring assembly into place, do you notice that it won't go in all the way until you latch it down? 5:34

  • This vid on reassembly is makes it much easier than the Ruger one. I was having a difficult time getting my Mark III competition I had just purchased together. Thanks!

  • Thanks for posting this. Spent an hour trying to get that rear in in following the Ruger vid. It just wouldn't go in. Followed your instructions and it zipped right in on the first try with a very light tap from a hammer handle. Wish I had seen this first! Thanks again.

  • Hey BigAgitator, my dad just bought one of these. We figured that before we head to the range, we should open it up and put her back together. The disassembly worked out okay, but in reassembling, the bolt stop pin won't simply slide back in. As far as I can tell it stops on the last layer, the top-most one, as it's made a click and the little spring bit from the bolt is no longer isible. To finish the job do I just got at the bolt pin with a hammer? Thanks!

  • @lionboy55555 I made a comment about this issue in part 3 of this series, towards the end of the video. The spring that rides on the bolt has to be positioned carefully. Also, make sure the receiver is all the way back on the trigger frame. if you jiggle and rack that pin while pushing you should be able to get it to snap in. if it won't, then double check that the hammer is in the decocked position. Sometimes that small black tang inside gets in the way of snapping the pin up into place.

  • Bought a MarkII stainless target yesterday. I'm much more of a shotgun guy than a handgun guy, so I found your video to be very enlightening. Great job!

  • Just got a new MKIII Hunter. Appreciate the help. One question: Used a small tool to access the release and pulled on it as shown in video. But, the bottom of the piece only came out about 5/8" from the grip. Can't get it any farther. Tried pushing in all directions, no success. Anyone have any suggestions?

  • @tkolk13 My first would be to make sure it's decocked. It'd help a lot if you could put up a video to show exactly what's happening. Have you had it apart before?

  • @tkolk13 My Mark 2 has the same problem. It won't budge back in either so I'm a little stuck.

  • thank you your instructional video was very accurate and very helpful

  • @rgarza148 Thanks- I'm glad it helped. A part 3 is almost ready to be put up: how to take apart the trigger frame/sear mechanism, etc...

  • Nice video! I was able to disassemble, clean and reassemble an old Mark II I'd traded for and I bet that thing had never been cleaned.

  • @Lario That's great. I'm glad to hear it and congratulations on the new piece!

  • I watched the video to disassemble the Ruger MKII. I pulled out the piece using a screw driver but the whole mechanism will not lift up. I have lubricated it but can't get it to move. Any suggestions. Thank you.

  • @beardoggin Are you sure the pistol is decocked?

I don't think it will release if there is spring tension on it. If you're positive that the pistol is decocked and the part still won't move, try tapping on and around it with a wooden or plastic hammer. You can also use a penetrating oil. Just beware that some of these oils can damage bluing. The best thing to start with might be to hose it down with CLP cleaner/lube. If you let it sit like that overnight it should loosen up any corrosion.

  • Thanks for the help. I got it. Now I'm having trouble with front sight removal. Both screws are out, trying to drift it out. Very tight fit.... Any suggestions?

    Thanks Scott

  • @alplanalp I can't think of anything spectacular. Something that could help is put the gun in your oven at no more than about 150 degrees for about an hour. That will make the part the sight blade fits into expand. It may ease the removal. A search might turn-up some more useful tips. thanks

  • Crap, can't get lower to separate from upper.... As I was taking it apart bolt came out before I could even try to separate lower from upper, will that make a difference? Light taps with wood hammer to separate lower from upper? Thanks

  • @alplanalp It's okay if you take the bolt out first. No problem. Light taps with a wooden hammer is a good method. It sounds like you know how to use your head.

    Thanks for watching!

  • I had to play with the receiver to get the holes to line up. I had the frame and receiver all the way forward and it wasnt lining up. Try moving it back and play with it until the holes line up. then it is pretty easy to reassemble. Thanks for the help man.

  • Hi thanks for the video i just bought a mark III i saw at the end of the video you dry fired a few times i thought dry firing was bad for the pistol is that true?

  • @TimODon87 ruger says its perfectly fine to dry fire these pistols because of their design, regular center fire pistols shouldnt be without a snap cap tho. the design of the ruger is more like a rifle's bolt than a normal pistol's inner workings

  • @jaratt85 Thank you

  • @TimODon87 Yes and no. Rim fire weapons can handle dry firing easier than centerfire can because there is less of a chance of jarring the firing pin. If it's really a concern to you, pick up an empty .22LR case you've shot, clean out the residue(bore cleaner does this easily) and put a bright red/black sharpie mark to note that it is not a live round on the end and use that for dry firing. This is what I do with my Marlin 60 and .22LR revolvers.

  • question, I cleaned and reasembled my Standard (1961) and got everything lined up but its kind of a bitch to cock if its not already, as in you pull the trigger without anything in it and its uncocked, its a bitch to pull back, but if its cocked its easy to pull back the action... any clue whats up with it?

  • @jaratt85 It might help if you put a bit of oil or gun-specific grease on the part of the hammer than contacts the bolt. If that area is very clean and well oiled (including the pivots), I'm not sure what else it would be. Does the gun cycle well when fired? Is this a new problem since reassembly or has it been like this for a while. If it just started happening, make sure you've got the hammer spring mechanism put together properly.

  • @BigAgitator the pistol was my late great uncle's and has been in my grand father's gun safe since '01 when my uncle died, dont know when it was last shot before I stripped and cleaned it before shooting it myself. got it back in october and have only put 10 rounds thru it, it worked fine but its just a pain to cock when it isnt already. I oiled all the parts on the gun, if anything I over oiled it. my father has a 1990 Mark II and it isnt hard to pull back at all, cocked or not.

  • @BigAgitator I wonder if we didnt get the tang seated quite right, we did have the issue of not being able to cock it before we figured out what your video says, but maybe its not 100% in there right. my father works with a guy thats a licensed gun smith (as well as deputy county sheriff or something like that) but hes going thru cancer stuff at the moment so I wont bother him with it.

  • @jaratt85 tang/spring seems to be the one achilles heel of this fine pistol. If that linkage isn't centered on the "button" contained in the hammer spring assembly, it might be able to cause this exact issue. You might try taking that spring assembly & pushing down on the button to compress the spring, then dribble a little CLP into the spring & work the spring up & down to see if it's fetching up. If any corrosion is in there, you wouldn't have noticed because it can't be taken apart.

  • @jaratt85 #2: that spring is hard to compress. A nail set or center punch would work well. If you have a vise, toss a rag across the jaws and gently clamp the spring assembly down with the spring facing up. This will hold the body of the assembly while you use both hands to compress the spring.

  • @BigAgitator well I was going to send you a link to the rimfirecentral forum but I cant find the send message thing on the new youtube channel thing... Im leery of pulling it apart again cuz I know #1 itll piss of my father and #2 it does still fire. I wonder if I just need to put more rounds thru it before it loosens up, like I said Ive only put 10 through it since cleaning it. BA, send me a pm so I can send you the link and you can see what I said on there in full

  • Who ever designed this @$%@#$%ing gun should be shot. What a PITA to field strip.

  • @ACobra289 its extremely simple i can field strip it blind folded

  • @ACobra289 actually there are much worse guns out there especially some of the newer pistols.

  • Big Agitator, thank you so much. Had disassembled MK II for first time and the bolt fell apart and wasn't sure how to re-install firing pin spring and didn't want to take the chance of not doing it right. Your video did the trick. Awesome. Also made final assembly much, much easier. Exceptional video!!!

    Mark

  • Took me a bit to get it back together but now I've got the hang of it :) thanks!

  • sweet check out my channel

  • i have a problem with mine. im assembling it correctly, but it will only cock the gun if i point the muzzle up. what is wrong?

  • After having a bit of trouble assembling after cleaning, I went looking for a good video for instruction. You did a FANTASTIC job. You are a great teacher and a great videographer. A few others I looked at first were so bad that they should be removed from youtube just to save people time since they will not be able to EVER HELP ANYONE! Thank you for a great job.

  • Exceptional instructional video! We looked at several others for the Mark II, and yours is the only one that showed clearly how to assemble and disassemble the gun. Thank you!

  • Had some problems with my Mark 1 - your vid did the trick.

Thanks for being very thorough and articulate.

  • Great video man. Thanks for doing it.

  • Thanks for this video! I have an old Mark II and shot it competitively years ago. But hadn't touched it in several years. Got it apart to clean, but wasn't getting it back together right, and this showed me what the .pdf manual I found online couldn't ! Thanks again! Cheers

  • thanks man this video just helped me disassemble and reassemble my weapon, first Ruger I have ever owned didn't come with an instruction manual, going shooting tomorrow thank you for such a great quality video.

  • No more gunsmith. I did it, but went more according to the manual, starting with a horizontal hammer and placing receiver on top. Insert bolt later. This is notoriously hard, but once you have it, it's not too bad. If you are a masochist, disassemble every couple of months when you have forgotten how to do this little PITA. lol

  • This video is very good and almost makes it look easy. He does warn of the problem reinserting the main housing assembly and that darn bolt pin. CAVEAT! Depending on your MKII, you may end up frustrated as heck like I did trying to do it, despite the video. Proceed at your own risk. I would guess the more times the gun has been taken down and reassembled the easier it is on the gun and on the person doing so. But I must take MINE to gunsmith. That's okay-still good video.

  • The only saving grace is that this firearm is based on an old design-so is the 1911, come to think of it...but, nevertheless, these guns sold for $37.50 for years-quite a bargain-except for the disassembly-reassembly... :(

  • Well, I tried it again. Got through the disassembly okay, cleaned the firearm. Then I spent over two hours trying to reinsert that mainspring housing assembly and that darn bolt stop pin. I think my gun may be defective because when you look at the receiver alone the hole looks 'off'. Still, guy at LGS a few years ago was able to reinsert it. VERY frustrating-detracts from the enjoyment except for those who have this nailed. Guess that I am not one of them. Well, whatever... a PITA,.

  • I must say this video was quite impressive. It almost prompts me to try to disassemble/reassemble once again-a totally frustrating prior experience following the owner's manual. Definite 'thumbs-up' for this video. Thanks!

  • Hey man, after pulling out my hair for a couple of hours, your vid saved what was left. Thanks for the breakdown and walk through. Got this little pistol from my father-in-law and had no clue about it. Once you showed how easy it was, it makes for a fun little gun. Thanks again!!

  • Is the firing-pin disassembly/Reassembly the same as the Mark 3? My shit needs cleaned! And I don't want to screw this up again!

  • @AZtwoNE I think it is. I wouldn't bet my life but I'm 99% certain.

    hope this helps.

  • This video just saved me probably $50.

    Thank you uploader!

  • @AZtwoNE Thanks for the awesome comment. I'm glad if it helped! Happy shooting!

  • The devil is in the details which you covered well. Very informative. Thanks!

  • I remember trying to reassemble this gun when I was a kid. It took hours and hours. I got it together by luck but I never know why. Now I know all the tricks. Thanks a bunch.

  • Thank you!!!

  • Thanks. I needed this.

  • Good video... Although I have been working on guns for 45 plus years, the first time I engaged in the disassembly of my Ruger MK11 I had a bitch of a time...

  • awesome. should have watched before spending 1.5 hours with the stupid manual. So tight i could not get the pin out without hitting with a little hammer. Also barrel was too tight, but will try again later.

I'll also attempt the firing pin disassembly after watching you do it.

    thanks

  • HUGE HELP!!!! THANKS!!

  • I can't for the life of me get the receiver off the trigger frame, I push and lift but nothing happens. it is in BAD need of cleaning and it would help if I could get those pieces apart.

  • woulda been nice to see this earlier today when I field stripped my Standard for the first time (just got it yesterday it was my great uncle's) kept having the issue with not being able to fully seat the pin thru the bolt and not being able to cycle the action more than half an inch. by all the gunk on the reciever and mag Im glad I pulled it apart for cleaning but my father is a bit ticked at me, took him almost an hour to figure it out, gotta love living at home

  • Really good video, thanks

  • Wow I feel like an idiot. I've been doing this differently. I put the bolt in after putting the barrel back on the frame, which requires the hammer being down. This makes putting that spring thing on the back a lot harder because it's harder to line up that little pin. Thanks for showing me the error of my ways.

I was just following the owner's manual though... silly me I guess.

  • Nicely done video with very clear straight forward instructions.... Now I just hope I can make it look that easy!

  • baaaaaaaaaaaah OMG i cant find a disassembly of the fricking internal's just the field strip ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • @723STONER i've been editing together a part that shows full disassembly but i've been too busy to finish putting all the video clips together. it is a full teardown of all parts

  • @723STONER figure it out lol its not hard just dont launch parts

  • Dang. Just got my firt one put back together. 1.5 hours. lol. This pistol makes me feel like an idiot, lol.

  • wow thanks that last part where you had to feel that spring part was what I was doing wrong I couldnt cock the bolt back all the way I thought I broke it for a sec. Great vid

  • Much better approach and quality than other similar videos. Great job!

  • @SpoMan2 Thanks! That's awesome feedback.

  • I think Ruger should've hired YOU to make their video! Thanks for posting.

  • This by far is the best vid for putting this gun back together. I spent hrs and clicking vid after vid with no help. Thank you

  • EXCELLENT! I had forgotten the trick about hold the pistol up and back when putting the clamp back in. Glad you were there.

  • Thank you. I've had my Mark II for 20 yrs, and the takedown had become a long forgotten mystery. It took me too long to find your vid, but it was worth it.

  • I recently got a hold of a mkII from my late father. It got a LOT of attention at the range today. This video has made my afternoon SO much easier. Thank you, and good work.

  • can you take the barrel off of the reciever?

  • @L0GAN811 Unfortunately, no. Not easily at least. It's pretty permanently attached. A gunsmith probably could but you'd prob'ly only want to if you were replacing it- not for cleaning. Hope this helps.

  • Best assembly vid out there for the MkII.. Very well explained and the hammer position is easy to see.. Well Done, Sir!

  • Hi, Do you have a vid of extractor Rand R? I just broke mine

  • @oldmanr101 Extractor removal and reinstallation? No, I don't have a video of that. Sorry.

  • i found my grandfathers old 1974 ruger mark 1 and i couldn't find a tutorial for it so i settled with this one and its basically the same.

  • You're a life saver - spent about 2 hrs trying to re-assemble , after watching this , did it in 5 min

  • Thanks BigAgitator for tis video, I just spent the last few hours trying to figure out how to put my new to me Mark - One- back together, and could not figure out how that plunger pin fits into that tang....Man, you made it easy. Two thumbs up bud.

  • This is the best reassembly video for the Mark 2/3 on the web!!! Took about an hour watching the "Ruger Guy" from Ruger.com before I got frustrated, found your video, and assebled it first try! So here I am back for 2nd cleaning and 1st try again. You need a job with Ruger!!!

  • On my third hour and going through the sixth different Youtube tutorial and this is the video that really showed how to do it. What a breeze. Salute!!! Thank you very much BA.

  • @stevenvt1 Thanks! I'm really glad that it helped

  • the only trouble i had is at the end with the pin in the grip , but you saved me ! :) thanks

  • THANK FUCKING YOU. your great!

  • Just got a Matk II and am now looking forward to getting home to clean it! My mom has been shooting it for years and never did mor than a bore cleaning.

    Thank You!

  • this is the most difficult gun to disassemble-reassemble in the WORLD..

  • This is the best of all the Ruger .22 assembly guides....really guided me well through that last bit with the little tang thing...thanks a million.

  • Well done. Camera showed everything you did clearly and you provided excellent oral instruction which most do not. Good job, and thanks!

  • Hello Sir, Do you know of a place or website where I can get a Ruger .22 for a low price.

  • @KICKERMAN124 Cabela's has a website (a search for "cabelas" will bring it up) and they have a whole chain of retail stores. They sell new and used pistols of this variety- without a doubt. I have my local favorites but none of the stores are a chain except cabela's. These pistols have been going for about $300 Ruger dot com is a good source. They have a huge variety of configurations of these pistols. Hope this helps. Thanks for commenting!

  • @BigAgitator Thank you.

  • Great video. I used your video the first time I took my MK II apart. Re-assembly was no prob. Thanks!

  • Good video,,,how do I remove the rear sight on a Mark 2 Target to install mount for an optical sight? (gun is not drilled and tapped)?

  • You made that look easy, If your not a gun smith you should be !

  • @cooldog60 Thanks! That made my day.

  • Best reassembly video for Mk 2 . I just might get up enough courage to take mine apart. Thanks.

  • Thank you very much, I was haveing trouble putting it back together. This video is perfect, Thanks!

  • Awesome explanation on how to position the hammer!!!!

Your technique is without a doubt my favorite method.

Thanks for an amazing video tutorial.

  • Very good. Brief and concise

  • This guy is a saint! I was able to take this gun apart. But putting it back together was a pain until I seen this video. Very detailed, make sure u pay attn to the last part that is key!!! Thanks a bunch!

  • Excellent video. I was totally hung up on closing up the latch until you showed that the gun needs to be pointed up when closing. THANKS

  • very informative good video. A+++++

  • the first steps of the break down are almost exactly the same as the gass airsoft version! now that is funny! lol

  • EXCELLENT! Your explanation of the proper hammer position for re-assembly was incredibly helpful. The process the way you outlined it worked beautifully on my recently purchased Mark 1. I was actually a little bit worried about cleaning, etc, since I had heard various horror stories about MK-I misadventures in disassembly. After watching this, though, I went right through a tear-down, cleaning, and reassembly without hesitation or problems. Thanks!

  • @perrogrande22 I'm so glad! Thanks

  • Do all mark IIs have the euro style mag release? Also which models don not have the fire pin stop? Thanks for any info and great vid nice lighting so we can actually see what's going on lol

  • @esparza8888 The MK II has the euro mag release but the MK III has a push button- my favorite. I'd highly recommend a MK III. It's just like the II but with a nice mag release.

Firing pin stop? Mine doesn't have one that I know of. Maybe the MK III does have one. I'm not sure. If you mean like a safety lock, mine doesn't have that, thank god.

  • @BigAgitator I'm sorry yeah, I meant firing pin stop lol (embarrassing), so when you dry fire it, it won't ruin the gun. I heard some models didn't have that, I'm new to rugers and not sure if I was told incorrectly.

  • @esparza8888 Oh- I'm not sure but I think that the cross pin in my firing pin keeps it from hitting the back of the chamber rim.... Not positive though. I think a google search might turn-up some useful hits about this (?)

  • I've recommended your video to many a desperado (desperate to reassemble their Ruger Mk I II III, that is)! My BIG question is; HOW MANY ROUNDS DO YOU RECOMMEND SHOOTING IN BETWEEN CLEANINGS? I recently got my MK I back from Ruger and I've already shot around 350-500 rounds. Do you think it's ready for cleaning, as I really don't want to disassemble it until it warrants a good cleaning. Thanks!!!

  • @goofydog2 Thanks!

Well, I personally go about 300-500 rounds between cleanings. You can stretch it out a bit but I think your accuracy might get worse. Looking into the receiver where the feed ramp is--- is a good gauge for how "dirty" it is. if that part is covered in lots of sooty garbage, it's probably getting ripe for a cleaning. After you shoot it and clean it a lot you will get a feel for how long to wait before you clean it. You *could* prob'ly shoot 1000 rounds before cleaning...

  • I have my dad's MKI; the serial number traces to 1955. There is no slide lock, but everything else is the same. I've disassembled/reassembled it numerous times just for the practice. Upon reassembly, I can pull the trigger and push the hammer forward, so that's easy. After that, just point it skyward and reassemble. You're golden. I need to augment the ramp to feed hollowpoints, but otherwise I'm lovin it.

  • @surtcaldera That's great. I have handled a few MK I pistols but never fired one. They seem really nice!

Mine has a little trouble feeding hollowpoints but only teh winchester. no other ammo has jammed :)

  • very good vid!! would recomend this firearm bfor a 1st time shooter? the wife,me myself have revolvers 38s model 85 and model 64 and 1 walther p1 what do you thnk.thxs again for great vid

  • @bennra26008 Thanks for the great comment!

Yes, I'd definitely recommend this for a first time shooter. It was my first piece and it gets use every time I go to the range regardless of what other guns I bring! The only problems I've had have been related to poor quality ammo! I have never had a problem with the pistol, even when dirty. I would just say you should avoid remington 22 ammo (lots of duds). It's flawless and accurate (for me) to 100 yards! Check out my ammo review if you like.

  • Thank you.

  • Very good video, well made and communicated perfectly. This was a big help to me, thanks.

  • MANY THANKS for the video. After 5 hours of swearing, I finally got it. The part where the mainspring post is inserted was giving me fits, every-time I tried to rotate it down into the grip it just pulled the post out. I kept trying...over and over and over again, but to no avail. Then I keyed in on these words, MAKE SURE THE BOLT IS ALL THE WAY FORWARD.........and it went it easy as pie. The dang gun is new to boot and really tight, which didn't make it any easier.

    Again, many thanks.

  • @lupe045 Thanks for the great comment!

    I'm glad it helped.

  • That Las Part Was Fuckin Hard As Hell! .. But IFinally Got! .. IFelt The Spring N'erething Homie! .. Minesz Is Black & Silver! .. This My Babii Gun! Doh! .. ...

  • Thanks for the video, i was having a little bit of trouble but you explained what i was doing wrong!

  • ohh sorry it was about 400 bucks..but but both of the fireamrs together..were about1100 bucks..and silencers in canada r illegal...but yah sill geting over the poor me thing..lol...latter

  • what a pice of shit gun..jsut bought it..and spent the last 5 hours trying to reasemble it..noe it will not fire...sure it racks jsut fine..its fucked now...wast of 500 bucks

  • @blackquiver just get in touch with ruger online or on the phone (phone number on website). they will definitely make it right.

  • @BigAgitator ..hay thanks for the responce....i feel better now ...not like yesterday...man i was pissed..so i might be able to get it warented..if not met a new friend and he will help me out..it isa good vid u have there came in handy

  • @blackquiver well don't worry man. Like many things in life, there's always an option. As long as you don't do any intentional damage to it, you're all set. I'm pretty certain ruger will repair/replace it free of charge minus shipping. If it's just a problem your'e having with assembling it, I'm happy to help out if I can. If you can make a video of the gun and the problems you're having with it I can try to help :)

  • @BigAgitator ..yep theres a vid i have of it..check it out....im working on gettting it fixed..hopefully it willnot cost me too much..but yah man thanks for the concern...i do like ruger.and im thinking when i get my mark 3 fixed..going tohave to make a vid..latter

  • @blackquiver You spent $500 on one of these? Did it come with an integral silencer or something?

  • @blackquiver I've had one for many years. Never regretted the purchase! It's impressed many with it's accuracy, etc.

  • I went through a lot of videos looking for one that didn't assume I knew what the heck I was doing. Your video was fantastic! Now when my twelve year old son comes home from school I can show him how to properly disassemble and assemble his Mark ll 22/45 gun. I will then take all the credit without giving you any (kidding). Actually I will refer back to this video as often as we need to. Thanks for your efforts.

  • @K9Midas Thanks for the great comment! :)

  • BigAgitator - you know, another direction you could go with your terrific close-up work is into showing how to repair/replace parts in pistols, etc. For instance, the recoil spring in my Mark 1 does not fit tightly in the bolt. It just flops down into place. Secondly, the hammer strut, as well as the hammer just don't behave like all the ones I've seen on Utube. The pistol is 34 years old and fired mostly many years ago. Now that I'm shooting it again, it needs repair. Wonder where to get parts?

  • Thanks very much for the close up camera work! NO ONE shows how the small spring that fits under the firing pin goes in place. THANKS MUCH!!!

  • @goofydog2 My pleasure!

I'm glad it helped. I'm trying to muster the energy to make a video of trigger frame takedown to the last piece (trigger+sear removal).

  • Yes. A quality video. Good lighting. Near. In focus. Gives the IMPORTANT details, like where the trigger is and safety catch and that main spring pin.

    Well done..

  • @prefermetal Thanks for the great feedback! I'm going to make a part 2 which deals with FULL takedown of the trigger frame.

  • Great vid! I've been looking for another .22 and the weird takedown and reassembly on these was about the only thing (besides the odd grip angle) that was keeping me away from these. I might have to give the Mark II's a second look thanks to this, as you've really shown how it's not nearly as difficult to service them as it normally seems.

  • @darkwriter77 I'm glad this has been of help to you! If you don't like the funky grip angle just get a ruger MK II or MK III in the 22/45 version (same grip shape as a 1911 pistol). As you can see from my videos, this sucker is a good shooter. I regularly plink with it @ 100 yards (propane tank=gong).

    Thanks for the comment!

  • Excellent video! Some of the Mark II videos mention the little metal bit inside the frame, but this is the only one that also mentions the positioning of the hammer! That make a big difference!

  • Thank you very much! I spent 3 hours trying to figure out why my slide wasnt cocking back! I found your video and solved my problem...THANKS AGAIN!!!

  • You did a great job of making sure the camera was focused on what you were talking about. This is one of the best videos on the mark 2 I have found on youtube. Great job and thank you.

  • @jlloyd75 Thanks!

  • This is honestly the best video on YouTube for these guns. Thank you.

  • Very, very nice video sir. The best way to put my MKII back together ever demonstrated. I had a lot of trouble with it at first, but not that you've competently shown me how to do it, it's almost as easy as putting a P22 back together. It's just that there's some little tricks to it, like tipping the barrel up during the final step.

Also, you're the first to show how to take the bolt apart so one can get in there and really clean it well.

    Fantastic job.

  • @pilotstever Well, thanks for the comment. I'm really glad to hear that it helped!

I may make a video showing how to remove the trigger, hammer, slide release, etc... Please let me know if that is of interest. The trigger are gets really dirty and it's much easier to clean when disassembled.
