I Cpl Clark was the 50 cal gunner on this mission. Aston was the mk 19 gunner. The big flash of light in this video is Aston shooting the transformer above me with the mk 19. I whited out my nvg's and I could not see a thing.

Oh yeah...it was like a week before you guys left too. Thats so horrible. We were like damn that's so horrible....little did we know we were about to get 48 of our own killed. We never had any clue were were about to be the Battalion facing the most combat over that period of time in Iraq. Learned pretty quickly though. My buddy I went tto high school with Brian P. Montgomery wa one of our snipers who were compromised in Barwana. I think that hit home the hardest. We named the highway after him.

Former soldiers who are now members of Iraq Veterans Against the War and Veterans for Peace have confessed to the atrocities that they and fellow soldiers committed in Iraq and Afghanistan. These crimes are also well documented by human rights groups.

Perhaps one of the reasons why soldiers commit suicide is because of their guilt and anguish over what they have done.

There have been a couple isolated incidents. There are in every war and those military membes were tried in court. If those veterans admitted to atrocities they shouldn't be speaking out, they should turn themselves in. Although I will say a majority of the Vets have been exposed to have political backing from left wing groups, former/current criminals/drug abusers, and some never served at all. They aren't a reliable source for anyone on the war.

Semper Fi. I ripped into Haditha over a year ago and have since been home. Thank you all for your sacrifices (some paid the the ultimate price) so that I could patrol those streets day-to-day and I made it home. It is a different world over there now and we actually turned all security over to the IPs and IA. To all that doubt our progress and mission, ignorance is bliss.

This was back in 2005 when Al Anbar Province was real warzone. My unit came to Iraq 25 Days after this happened and took over Haditha from 1/23

man i remember this night- it sucked... those reporters were pretty cool though. the sad part is we were so undermanned that we had to use engineers as our dismounts, so all the rip marines were the attached engineers. they had it rough and their sacrifices will never be forgotten.

We did a little memorial ceremony in thier honor in February in 29 Palmsw before we went over. Little did we know we'd get it is so much worse. Our op-tempo was insane man....we were all over western Iraq

I ain't no military expert, but why don't they use thermal imagine cameras to scan the area during night missions? i mean that way they can see who's hiding where.

Also don't the marines have remote weapon systems installed on their Humvees?

we use them all the time, but when the vehicles are moving the signal gets shaky/un-focused. sometimes it's easier to stick to night vision. the only "remote" weapons systems we carry are the javelin and tow anti-tank missiles. these are thermal and wire-guided. i can't really go into further detail for the sake of opsec. some of the Iraqis used to think the tow was a magic wand that we'd use to curse them. i always got a kick out of that. we had to explain that one over and over again...
