I was expecting this series of videos for a very long time. VERY good, Duane!
I have 2 suggestions to make:
1) PLEASE simulate a condition when vacuum gauge is moving IN SYNC with a rough idle speed. This is not always a mechanical problem, but mixture related, you know better.
2) Hook a tachometer and show us how vacuum is related to engine speed each case.
Duane, what make/model is your vacuum gauge? I'm trying to buy a high-quality gauge, the vintage Snap-On gauges are very nice but hard to find. Can anyone message me if they know what/where to buy a great vacuum gauge? Thanks.
As usual, an excellent video. Thanks so much for taking the time to make them. Your videos have helped me on several occasions to go past my usual comment of "Now what do I do," to actually finding the problem and fixing it.
D, If u have a vehicle with no( service engine light) on and no noticeable problem such as misfires etc. Would this vehicle or such type vhecals make good practice for hooking a scantool , to recognize good data value such as o2 values, fuel trim, etc??
I didn't know you did any sort of teaching outside of these YouTube videos. Only thing I gotta add to this is if you're gonna do any of these tests, get a GOOD vacuum gauge, not one of those el-cheapo vacuum pump gauges like you get from AutoZone. The needles on those have a lot of bounce even on a perfectly sealing engine.
Great informative video, i was just lucky and got pickup a used snap on gauge similar to your,'s for 25.00 with all the fittings and case at a garage sale., thanks i have learned a lot by watching your videos..thanks Duane..
Excellent video Duane! The guys in the field forget about this test all the time. Once it is understood, it is easy to perform and is extremely accurate. Nice work my friend!
wouldn't a cranking no start with zero vaccum reading mean a broken timing belt?

If at snap throttle the needle drops to about 10 then returns to a steady 20 would you say it has a restriction some where on the intake side?
