Alot of people never played 1 or 2 properly. Now before anyone mentions how there is no "right" way (Goes without saying.) I do feel alot of people didn't get the right experience, I knew a couple people growing up, who were outright pussies, and they played this game- I remember thinking it was odd they'd play an intense game like this, but the truth was, they NEVER had a proper run through, they put in HOURS, yet still, had only played the game via rushing. LAME.

I started playing D2 again recently and heard this piece play in the "Swampy Pit and "Flayer Dungeon" during Act III. It was never the whole track but it's still nice to hear that the Dungeon Theme was inserted in the expansion at some point.
Would of been cool if every Diablo track got this treatment. Other then the Tristram theme, people also tell me Diablo's hell theme haa a remix when your in hell during Act IV, but I can never make it out.

@8Recon8 well world of warcraft i think is blizzards worst game diablo 3 looks better then wow but i see where your coming from. After player the older games diablo 3 doesn't have that creepy dark gothic horror anymore.
@8Recon8 Diablo 1 will always be the best. A lone knight going into the dungeons to battle the spawn of the devil. The mood was so dark... the catacombs music pushed the feeling of trapped people going mad. The game made the player feel so isolated.
Diablo 3 is way too much into the Warhammer theme, absolutely out of what the Diablo series set in the 1st game. Also the music is "too epic" which is a bad thing. I definitely don't like the flashy colorful graphics. Just.. awful..
Does anyone know where I can get a digital copy of the first Diablo? I've had not much luck searching myself (maybe I'm just crap, or not paying close enough attention, but that's the way it's going :/) I'm willing to pay a little, if there's a legit & legal site that has it, & I'm aware that a digital copy of Diablo 2 is sold on the Blizzard site, but I'd rather start from the beginning. I loved making a portal directly into the butcher's room early in the game and convincing low-level guys to walk into it by telling them it's a portal to me or something.
hey guys we may be old now.... but lets be honest here. if there is one thing our generation could brag about it would be video games... they don't make em like diablo or zelda anymore... and i dont think they ever will again. no matter how old i get ill never forget all the epic diablo runs... :D

Diablo 1 had much better atmosphere than 2,first your character only walks fast not runs,the monsters are better for me,and I dont think anyone can forget first time you saw that room with butcher in it and you were the fresh meat o_O
@burexasiromm: If 2 is less darker than 1, 3 is going to be worst, in that aspect. It's sad to say that these kind of games loses their atmospheres with more 3D or better graphic ( I'm not saying that Diablo 1 and 2 are bad graphic, they are very good ) and only becomes action games.
This is one thing that even Diablo 3 won't be able to outdo. This powerful, desperate atmosphere that followed us all the way to Level 22. I can't even track this in Winamp while I'm running the Chaos Sanctuary in D2 because it's too powerful a composition.

ahhhh i remember my level 50 mage legit :D and my program to detect dupes!!! anyway i killed all hackers anytime i cross them.. 12k dmg fireball :D and ultra fast hit recovery couse my own life was 1 (less than a single strike damage, a life glith) and mana shiled on.. and i remember my skull cap unique (forgot name) and my legit arch's of apoc!! +2 to all +16 apoc chrages :D and my 2 obsidian ring of the stars :D and my emerald shiled of stars and a dreamflange for second option.

@vkeiftw For one its not a glitch. Second, you can simply put him on the other side of a door where there are screens and shoot him through them. If youre trying to out melee the Butcher at a low level with anything other than a warrior, then yeah, you suck and youre an idiot. Thanks

I just remembered...the first copy of this I played was a friend's, and his mom wouldn't let him play it because he was too young, at the time. But I could play it. I was a bit too late to play it in the 90's, though.
When I first played this game, I was already a hardened veteran in horror games. I mean, hell, if you can get through CarnEvil, you can get through anything. I made it down to the caverns once, but now I keep getting gangraped by those "unseen" monsters. >.<
Please, listen to me. The ArchBishop Lazarus, he led us down here to find the lost prince. The bastard led us into a trap, now everyone is dead... killed by a demon he called the Butcher. Avenge us! Find this butcher and slay him so that our souls may finally rest...
This scared the crap out of me when I was 6 and it still gives me chills now. If only they had the disk space to make all these themes in stereo.
Diablo 3 will never be like this as the linear approach descending closer to hell would be seen as 'too simple' and not progressive but honestly it seems that not overdoing things and letting a good thing shine has become a lost art in game development these days. Plus it would be too scary for the kids >:(

I remember when I played it online from dusk till dawn back in 97.
The atmosphere was great - the sounds helped making it a real scary dungeon. Never knowing what ones have to face next down there was great.
While Diablo 2 was more story line oriented (and imho had little less admosphere), I hope diablo 3 does the job. I am really waiting for it. The previews looked a little overcrowded.
Back when i was more or less 6 years old, i didn't know about Sanctuary, the Zakarum religion and other features of the Diablo-verse, so seeing a christian crossed archbishop offering an innocent child's body to summon the devil was more than a moral event horizon for me.
I remember i was very scared to go down at every level, expecially the hell level.
I love Diablo 1. Rogues gotta be my favourite but its also heaps of fun with the other two characters. I've killed Diablo with the Warrior and Rogue, and my Sorceror is in Hell and hes killing the monsters in like one hit, so I do reckon Diablo won't be too difficult for him. Oh ya I'm on Hellfire so by the time I got to Diablo I was around lvl 26. :)

I loved how you could hear bits of this in some of the music from Diablo 2. It was always my favorite song in the game. Yes, even more than the Tristram theme.

This scared the crap out of me when I was 6 and it still gives me chills now. If only they had the disk space to make all these themes in stereo.
Diablo 3 will never be like this as the linear approach descending closer to hell would be seen as 'too simple' and not progressive but honestly it seems that not overdoing things and letting a good thing shine has become a lost art in game development these days. Plus it would be too scary for the kids >:(

I remember when I played it online from dusk till dawn back in 97.
The atmosphere was great - the sounds helped making it a real scary dungeon. Never knowing what ones have to face next down there was great.
While Diablo 2 was more story line oriented (and imho had little less admosphere), I hope diablo 3 does the job. I am really waiting for it. The previews looked a little overcrowded.

Back when i was more or less 6 years old, i didn't know about Sanctuary, the Zakarum religion and other features of the Diablo-verse, so seeing a christian crossed archbishop offering an innocent child's body to summon the devil was more than a moral event horizon for me.
I remember i was very scared to go down at every level, expecially the hell level.

I love Diablo 1. Rogues gotta be my favourite but its also heaps of fun with the other two characters. I've killed Diablo with the Warrior and Rogue, and my Sorceror is in Hell and hes killing the monsters in like one hit, so I do reckon Diablo won't be too difficult for him. Oh ya I'm on Hellfire so by the time I got to Diablo I was around lvl 26. :)

The warrior classes, in all honesty, including in Hellfire the barbarian, monk, and bard all sucked late game. Why? Because you have to chase down EVERY single bitch in hell into a corner. Sorcerer w/ teleport ALL the way!
