Nice run. I'm looking at buying one of these right now. I can't decide on the '08 M5, or the '08 M3. I've read the fuel milage on the M5 of as 17 highway, 11 city. Going that fast, it must have been sucking gas like a Lear jet. :)

I happen to own one with an ECU tune that takes the limiter off and I've personally had the car up to 191mph and plenty of rpm left. If you look in the video, you'll notice he is at 7500rpm or so in 7th gear...Anyone who owns one of these cars knows that 7500rpm in 7th gear is silly fast...no doubt around 200mph+

kids, guys, I've tested some of these cars in Germany on their tracks, these M5-M6 models will do abouit 185 tops. 500 bhp and the gearing in them plus not the best aerodynamics means, based on good math & gears that are OEM, the M5\6 would need 678 bhp to crack 200 mph... The ZR1 has 638 bhp and far better aero, plus gearing to barely get to 200 mph & on to 203mph and ZR is 800 lbs lighter..The only way this car is going any place near 200 is huge pwr, otherwise speedo error over 165 is -15mph

@2180TomWoolley Actually dumbshit, they are limited to 155 mph, and when de-limited have been said to hit 204. 211 is way over that, however there is a slight discrepancy in what the speedometers show and how fast you are actually going. It has been said that it is off by around 5-7 mph which then backs up BMW's claim of 204 miles per hour in this highly comfortable 4 door saloon :) Ah, the M5 is just great!

Ha even if the CTS-V has more power it can kick rocks, it won't come close to 200mph stock. Here's my question given that the 500hp N/A V10 aided the M5 to 200mph plus, would the new F10 M5 be able to make it to the same speeds if not faster with the lack of two cylinders swapped with two turbos and 50hp more?
Stick THIS M5 (I love the 5 series' - I had a 1993 535) on the Nurburgring and see what it comes up with...
BTW - what does this say for the M6 then? I think the 6 series is a waste of money. Better to have seats for 5 and 4 doors, than two plus room for 1/2 [sideways] in the back. Not even a place to hang the dry cleaning. My friend dumped his 650 just because of that reason (and no they are not a race car driver, but an every day user who likes to put the pedal to the metal once in a while)

@THEARMADYLGODSWORDS M5 standard will do 180MPH in 6th gear. When you flick 7th gear it restricts it to 155MPH but yeah they do 200+ in 7th de-restricted. I have had 158mph in 5th gear tho. M5 is more awesome at high speed more so than any nissan gtr or american shit, there geared for acceleration (0-60, 30-120) more so.

im sorry while you can make a faster for cheaper...its still a vette, i wouldent buy the car just on how poorly the seats are constructed. BMW's arnt engineered to be the fastest but to be the best...which in almost every respect they are.
I would be scared to go that fast because if you start to lose control for whatever reason you will never be able to slow down fast enough to not be able to hit anyone or something that would wreck you. When a car is highly aerodynamicly engineered it would take alot for the car to be destabilized at high speeds because of the enormous amount of downforce implied on the car.
oh ya it's true, i did 330 KPH before tuning it and when i did i got 340! but i don't recommend going that fast......the car's body isn't really built for that kinds of speeds

Almost every production car has an uncalibrated speedometer. But if you were educated then you would know that the E60 M5 achieved a 203mph top speed while testing the final production model, shortly before it's release in 2006. Look it up sometime, you might actually learn something.
Your an idiot lol, the m5 has a higher top speed than the zr1. The Mclaren F1 had 627 hp while the zr1 is 638. BMW built that glorious engine and that car achieved a speed of 240mph. Just because a car has more HP and torque doesnt mean a damn thing.
It's not the government. It's an agreement to limit speeds to 155mpy by European car manufacturers. However, speed limiters can be removed in software.

You cannot base a top speed run with the in car speedo. At that speed you are definately getting a plus or minus 15 miles per hour. You need a GPS to do this kind of thing.

@2180TomWoolley Actually dumbshit, they are limited to 155 mph, and when de-limited have been said to hit 204. 211 is way over that, however there is a slight discrepancy in what the speedometers show and how fast you are actually going. It has been said that it is off by around 5-7 mph which then backs up BMW's claim of 204 miles per hour in this highly comfortable 4 door saloon :) Ah, the M5 is just great!

Ha even if the CTS-V has more power it can kick rocks, it won't come close to 200mph stock. Here's my question given that the 500hp N/A V10 aided the M5 to 200mph plus, would the new F10 M5 be able to make it to the same speeds if not faster with the lack of two cylinders swapped with two turbos and 50hp more?

Stick THIS M5 (I love the 5 series' - I had a 1993 535) on the Nurburgring and see what it comes up with...
BTW - what does this say for the M6 then? I think the 6 series is a waste of money. Better to have seats for 5 and 4 doors, than two plus room for 1/2 [sideways] in the back. Not even a place to hang the dry cleaning. My friend dumped his 650 just because of that reason (and no they are not a race car driver, but an every day user who likes to put the pedal to the metal once in a while)

@THEARMADYLGODSWORDS M5 standard will do 180MPH in 6th gear. When you flick 7th gear it restricts it to 155MPH but yeah they do 200+ in 7th de-restricted. I have had 158mph in 5th gear tho. M5 is more awesome at high speed more so than any nissan gtr or american shit, there geared for acceleration (0-60, 30-120) more so.

I would be scared to go that fast because if you start to lose control for whatever reason you will never be able to slow down fast enough to not be able to hit anyone or something that would wreck you. When a car is highly aerodynamicly engineered it would take alot for the car to be destabilized at high speeds because of the enormous amount of downforce implied on the car.

The conversion from KM/h to MPH is 0.625. This does calculate 332 KM/h to be 207.5 MPH.

Almost every production car has an uncalibrated speedometer. But if you were educated then you would know that the E60 M5 achieved a 203mph top speed while testing the final production model, shortly before it's release in 2006. Look it up sometime, you might actually learn something.

Your an idiot lol, the m5 has a higher top speed than the zr1. The Mclaren F1 had 627 hp while the zr1 is 638. BMW built that glorious engine and that car achieved a speed of 240mph. Just because a car has more HP and torque doesnt mean a damn thing.

It's not the government. It's an agreement to limit speeds to 155mpy by European car manufacturers. However, speed limiters can be removed in software.

You cannot base a top speed run with the in car speedo. At that speed you are definately getting a plus or minus 15 miles per hour. You need a GPS to do this kind of thing.
